The Centaurus wins. It's the best sounding radial ever built. That raspy growl...i love it. Great video, that formation with the F8 gave me goosebumps...
Listen to that sound, Music to me ears, love the sea fury, just one of our great planes that we used to build, those were the days. Thanks for the up load. Great bit of flying by these guys.
I'm fairly certain Richard Grace flew the Fury regularly . I read today that Richard very sadly passed away after a short illness at the age of 40 . Blue skies Richard
Spectacular ! I bet Duxford sounded very quiet after they landed, really nice to see/hear the Fury with its proper engine in place, what a beast, very nice ground shots as well, thanks for posting this one Steve, Chris B.
Chris - As always, it's my pleasure to share the sight and sound of these beautiful aircraft. It's a pity that one currently has the P&W engine, but I'd rather see that than not see it fly. I'm sure that eventually it will get back its original engine, but although many dislike the P&W I must admit that it makes a glorious sound and has phenomenal power, as does the Centaurus. Steve.
@@HighFlight : Steve, many thanks for your reply, I was led to believe that you could not get a "permit to fly" on a Sea Fury/Fury in UK, but it may be flying on an experimental permit, it would be nice to see the proper engine back in place, I am amazed there are not more engines around as they were used in quite a few types. Chris B.
Being a bit of a puritan the Centaurus wins without doubt. Do not get me wrong the P&W is a wonderful lump but it doesn't have the same musical tone of the Centaurus which if you have been brought up with the Sea Fury goes hand in hand.Long live the CENTAURUS,18 cylinders of oil burning bliss!
Whist the Centaurus sounds good, the R2800 is much louder. Though sadly we never see this T-20 fly again, though Navy Wings Sea Fury FB 11 will fly again next year it will have a R2800 fitted though.
Anything with a Centaurus is pretty rare now. I'd rather see a Sea Fury in the air with an R2800, than not in the air. As well as Navy Wings FB11, hopefully the Fighter Collection will get one or two of theirs flying - I think they have 4 airframes now including the ex Navy Wings 2 seater?
There were twice as many pilots lost in WWII to accidents as there were to enemy action, so it is no surprise when one crashes over 70 years later. Poor old Invincible! Hopefully they can rebuild it.
Lovely stuff! One query - would it be possible to lock the focus on infinity and leave it there? The ******* autofocus keeps hunting in and out and wrecking the sharpness of the picture.
Thanks. Yes, the auto focus can be annoying for that reason. I’ve also tried setting to infinity, but then there are occasions when things get closer and even that’s off. I tend to choose whichever is best for the expected situation, but don’t always get it right, but will try more infinity lock in future. 🙂
What are all these we see displayed running in back yards and on lorries ? My guess is there are probably enough around but insufficient knowledge And maintenence training going on . I can sympathise with the owners keeping the T20 airborne as a trainer to keep, her airworthy with the hours required as long as the original motor Which after all is what makes it a sea fury as Sydney Camms masterpiece ), is still in existence and earmarked for the aeroplane.
@@johncrispin2118 I think that you're right about the lack of knowledge, although I would think that any Centaurus engines off aircraft and display running on rigs, are in all probability power plants that are not and could not be used in an aircraft because perhaps they are 'past it'? Weald Aviation Services at North Weald are pretty expert with the Centaurus and in servicing and maintaining Sea Fury's - they rebuilt the RNHF/Navy Wings T20 and have an ongoing servicing contract for it and other Sea Fury's. Thank goodness for skilled engineers and one day this T20 will have it's real engine back.
@@HighFlight Thankyou for the info. that is most reassuring to see. I often wonder what happened to the two Tempest 11s once owned by Brian Angliss amongst his collection of motorcycles at Autocraft Brooklands. I visited in the early nineties and saw the Centaurus engines on the workbenches.
@@johncrispin2118 One of the Brian Angliss/Autokraft Tempest's is MW763/G-TEMPT. This has since gone through various owners including Tempest Two Ltd and Anglia Aircraft Restorations. It was being seriously worked on by Weald Aviation Services at North Weald, including a full restoration/rebuild of the Centaurus engine. The airframe is now a project with Air Leasing (Richard and Caroline Grace) at Sywell, but still owned by Anglia Aircraft Restorations and probably with Weald Aviation input also. The other ex Autokraft one is G-PEST, which is currently also registered to Anglia Aircraft Restorations. There's a good website here that covers surviving Tempests - www.hawkertempest.se/index.php
I've seen it once in South Africa at Wonderboom airport. That Centaurus is something to hear! Is it my imagination or does the Centaurus "tighten up" between take-off and landing?
Absolutely gorgeous sounds ❤

Thanks. There's more of the Sea Fury and F8 together here - ruclips.net/video/RKj_Pknm3wk/видео.html
i realize it is kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good place to stream new tv shows online ?
@Pedro Leighton Lately I have been using flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Elias Mathias Definitely, I have been watching on FlixZone for since march myself :)
@Elias Mathias thank you, signed up and it seems to work :D Appreciate it !

You can't beat it!
Round sounds are the best! I can't choose between them!

He did and was exceptionally good at it. R.I.P. Richard. Such a sad loss.

@@453421abcdefg12345 Chris, I'm not sure about that, but it's listed on CAA G-INFO as G-INVN with a Permit to Fly until 26/2/20.
That sleeve valve Centaurus was a beast. Wonder what the differences were at altitude.
I got an advert for an electric car at the start of a video for monstrous piston engines. Talk about misreading your audience! 😂
They were amazing! I was their that day as well
It was a good day indeed!

Theese planes are very fast even by todays standards!
Almost at the limit of piston engine performance!🙃
Grandad flew these, and I'm building a model of his plane in his honour. Such beautiful aircraft!
Very nice - bravo! Enjoy the model build.👍🙃

To bad enough of the old Bristols aren't left to make it a viable engine for most operators.
I believe that the original Centaurus from the T.20 is being rebuilt for eventual inclusion on the aircraft?

Cannot believe that the two seater has cashed for a second time in its life!!!!! Get that baby back in the air please!!!!
Sadly it's in a bit of a mess and may take some time. At least the crew survived.
CENTAURUS WITHOUT DOUBT!!!! sorry about the capitals
На стоковом Кентавре самолет летит медленнее, визуально. P&W лучше, быстрее😊
Könnt Ihr bei dem Sound nicht einfach mal den Mund halten !!!!!!!!!!
