Hello Maya! How exciting! The dip dyeing service is still offered by Hermes today. In fact I sent one for dip dyeing early this year, in my city it costs less than USD60. The scarf is not ready yet so I do not have a feedback.
@@cranleyplace I forgot to mention that the end result is lovely! I would love to see a follow up if your scarf washes well, any fading or patchiness after washing. And also if your local store offers this service. I brought mine back to the store for ‘repair’ because the scarf (it was the denim dyed version) started to turn patchy - from light denim blue to pinkish slivery patches.
Thanks for the info and the inspiration! I have three vintage Hermes’ scarves - all from the resale market and one that only cost $2.50! - that I don’t wear because I don’t love the colours or the designs. I am going to try this diy dip dye method with them later this week. Fingers crossed!
I think it looks beautiful! I'm thinking that I will dye my Eperons D'or purple. I'm at my Mom's house rn so that will have to wait until I get back home. Love this video! Mmm
Damn, I can't believe you did that, amazing! I just bought my first Hermès scarf a few days ago and I'm slowly discovering this new world through your channel. Love your videos, keep it up! 🥰
Thanks for your comments, Kimberly! The stain didn’t completely disappear, but it is much more camouflaged given the new color. I notice it because I know it was there, but I don’t think anyone else would. 😂
Glad this turned out well for you. I Dyed an Hermes scarf a few years ago, it turned out really well, funnily enough i receive more compliments on the dyed scarf than the original.
Hi Maya can't believe how nice it came out. Have you tried white vinegar?? Carefully I apply a tiny bit with a Q tip (front & back) to check out results. Soak in cold water for a few minutes in a plastic container, then in the machine, gentle cycle using white colored liquid hand soap. Soy sauce is terrible but I have successfully removed stains on silk, polyester ( the worst to get out) and cotton. Anyway I guess you saved your scarf and really looks beautiful. My husband found Les Clefs in a Brocante in Les Mans in the 90's. I thought it was fake but he bought it anyway for 1 French Franc . Had it checked at the Boutique only to find out that it's real. Mine is green and I have learned to look more closely when on the road. Unfortunately, I have never found a real Hermes again 😕
Hi Martha, thanks for your tip about the white vinegar! I will give that a try and see what happens. Love your story about your husband’s one franc find in the 90s; what a stroke of luck! I appreciate your comments, as always, and wish you a lovely weekend 🤗
Hi Martha, you still looking for a black and white 140? This is the silk design I mentioned to you a while back: www.fashionphile.com/p/hermes-silk-le-pegase-dhermes-cut-wash-140-scarf-black-white-or-1054408 🤗
How brave! Total success! So excited to be attending a silk embroidery event at my local boutique next Friday. Any advice suggestions on what to get embroidered? Thanks!
Thanks for your comments! And how exciting to be able to attend the upcoming embroidery event. Your options may depend on what they have available to personalize, but if it were me, I’d probably see if I could get Robe Légère or the Gene Kelly scarf done. Have fun!
@@cranleyplace My sister got the robe legere and I actually got the plumets et panaches. It'll take 2 months to get back, but it was so cool to talk to and watch the artisan!
Thank you Maya! Love it! You are giving me the courage to dye my vintage Hermès scarf. I love the main colors (denim blue, browns) but the border is a Pepto Bismol pink tone that I just hate. I'm thorn between dying it fuschia pink or dark blue, two of my favorite colors. My scarf has no stains but I feel it would give it a more contemporary look.
Hi! Thank you for this video on Dip dye. I’ve been into Hermes scarves since around 2008, and then seriously fell for them since 2011- now I’m looking at their scarf catalog from 2011aw… They made Jungle love in carre 90 and Cliquetis in carré géant 140 for thé season, and that was the first time I saw their Surtient as long as I remember. Hope more details will be updated by anyone else!
Thank you, Maya, a great video! It gives me ideas... I have a vintage scarf (Bonzaï) with a discoloration on the turquoise hem. Dip dyeing it might be the solution. I could try some green tone. Your scarf turned out beautifully. Les Clefs is a great candidate for this kind of activity. And the vintage scarves in general, they have often a rather neutral background, nowadays it feels a bit dated. If one doesn´t use them, as I don´t mine, can dip dyeing give them a new "lease of life". Have a nice weekend!
Aww, thanks for your feedback, Suvi! You have a good weekend too and let me know how it turns out with your dip dye! I’m already looking at what other vintage scarves I should do this to 😂
Wow! It looks fantastic. I'm scared to dye a scarf but I do wash my scarves in the washer! I put them in a lingerie bag on the delicate cycle with minimal soap and then hang dry and steam as needed. The scarves aren't "crisp" any more but I like them soft and flowy
Thank you very much, Linda! You’re giving me reassurance about taking that leap to a machine wash on delicate cycle. I agree with you about the scarf softness giving it a nice flow. 💗
Wow, you are brave and it turned out so well! Thank you for sharing this I just may try it someday. Right now I'm nervous to wash my Hermes at all. I hand wash vintage scarves I find and they have turned out just fine. But I really like the 'stiff' feel of the Hermes and am not sure about how to reproduce that so I'm just really careful:)
Very very interesting! Great video!!! 💜💜💜
Thanks so much for your feedback!
Fantastic result!
Thank you, Marlena! I thought so too 🤩

Good to know, thanks for sharing, Karen! What a bargain! Definitely will need to investigate locally here. 🧡

great video, thank you! especially loved the details about the keys, so interesting! may get up the courage to do one of mine . . .
Thank you, I appreciate your feedback! Good luck taking the leap to dye one yourself. 🤩
I have to get the original scarf. Love the pattern!
It is such a classic pattern, Sheila, thanks for your feedback and good luck with your search!
Is that wall of scarves in your home? 😍
Oh, heavens no, Lisa, just inspo! I prefer to hang the scarves on me versus the walls 😂

Thanks for sharing your experience, JD! Not surprised that you get more compliments than the original, it’s such a dramatic look. 🎉
Your scarf turned out beautifully, I love the color!
Thank you, Suzanne, delighted you think so too!

I bet it was, thanks for sharing your experience!
Please elaborate on the 'S' found on the corner of the scarf. Was it from an Hermes sale? Thank you.
Exactly, yes, that indicates a sale scarf. Thanks for your question, Elyse!

Thanks for your comments, Barbette! Like you, I’m a hand washer of my H scarves. 😉
Has the feel of the scarf changed?
It was already pretty soft due to age, so I can’t say I’ve noticed a difference. Thanks for your question, Susan!
Oh no😆They made Brides de Gala carré géant in 2010 ss!! Sorry!!
Nice that you collect the catalogs too, very helpful reference!
