The question about purpose of one’s life used to bother me. Until a hermit (Poornaji) told me that the purpose of life is to live. Be good, do good, serve others.
This is a brilliant way of explaining what the Buddha went through during his quest for enlightenment. Matt, you're an accomplished knower of Buddha's teachings. Thank you for opening my eyes.
Wow, this was such a captivating breakdown of Buddha’s path! The way each teacher contributed to his growth and understanding is inspiring. It’s a reminder that wisdom can come from different places and lead to something truly transformative. Thanks for making this complex history so engaging and relatable!
Simply to “be here now” is true, but misleading. What he found was that everything he had learned from his former teachers was true, but like the blind men examining the elephant, they hadn’t put all their insights together at once to see the elephant ‘as it is.’ Only then could he see: “The radiant awareness that is always present.” And the keys to it all, that he left for everyone, are the Four Noble Truths. But you do not, you cannot simply dispense with all of your desires at once. You must meditate in stillness until: fading away your desire comes within reach.

An AI voice, obviously (weird pauses, but moreover, the different pronunciation of the same words...), is it also an AI script? Why not be transparent about it?
What bull! Most of the teachings you mentioned came after Buddhism. That was the false matrix not the “influence”. You mention teachers that Lord Buddha never mentioned. Fake news! In the end all he had to do was breath and be calm. No teachings even came close.
It’s a valuable observation that much of what’s considered “Buddhist teachings” evolved over centuries as different schools, cultures, and influences incorporated their interpretations. The Buddha’s original teachings, found primarily in the early Pali Canon, focus on the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, emphasizing direct experience over elaborate doctrines. The simplicity in his teachings-such as mindfulness of breath and understanding suffering-reflects his emphasis on experiential wisdom over intellectualization. Later texts and commentaries do add layers, but the Buddha’s core message is often about the simplicity of observing, understanding, and letting go.
@@MindPodcastEnglish actually, the only reason merely breathing worked was because he had been practicing Sila and paramitas over kalpas of lifetimes - something other Indian sects have NO clue about - the perfection of Sila and paramitas comes from Buddhism- where Lord Buddha is the Law! Sakyamuni’s body was very different, and had developed over lifetimes - that’s why he said he didn’t honor anyone as his teacher except the Law.

This is what made The Buddha so unique. He was a self seeker of wisdom, and encouraged his students to be the same way.

Gee I wonder why no one knows them?
Because it’s fake news.
Stop seeking
Said 5 teachers were not hidden. In fact it is mentioned very many times in Tripitaka
An AI voice, obviously (weird pauses, but moreover, the different pronunciation of the same words...), is it also an AI script? Why not be transparent about it?
I stopped watching when you compared to Tony Robbins
All wrong. It’s not understandable by the western intelligence.
