A DNA microarray (also commonly known as DNA chip or biochip) is a collection of microscopic DNA spots attached to a solid surface. Scientists use DNA microarrays to measure the expression levels of large numbers of genes simultaneously or to genotype multiple regions of a genome. Each DNA spot contains picomoles (10−12 moles) of a specific DNA sequence, known as probes (or reporters or oligos). These can be a short section of a gene or other DNA element that are used to hybridize a cDNA or cRNA (also called anti-sense RNA) sample (called target) under high-stringency conditions. Probe-target hybridization is usually detected and quantified by detection of fluorophore-, silver-, or chemiluminescence-labeled targets to determine relative abundance of nucleic acid sequences in the target. shomu sir i owe you a lot, because in youtube i find very less channels to explain the fundamentals of bioinformatics and making biinformatics so simple and understandable
"Way back in 20th century" - Loved it, instant like
Thank you
Crystal clear explanation sir....along with your teaching the animated video makes the concept intresting and clear... Thank you so much sir
Thank you so much for appreciating my efforts
I have never known anything about microarry before watching this amazing video. Thanks a lot for your great effort.
Thank you very much for the effort made.
Amazing work.
the animations make learning very enjoyable, thanks
thanks, really do enjoy the video and you saved me from having migraine reading boring lecture slides.
Dude, I don't know how much effort did u put in that!!! But definitely that was incredible.... At first I didn't understand the microarrays and how they work at all... But after watching the video I now understand more than what I need to understand!!!... Thanks man... Thanks... U r the best!!!
Thank you. Glad you liked my lectures
good job! amazing animation, one of the most detailed ive ever seen
You're welcome. Glad to hear that you're getting benefit from my lectures
Thanks for all your videos 🤗 I have learned so much from you. You make things easier.

Thank you so much, it is extreamly helpful.
Thank you so much! Really helped me understand the process! an excellent explain
Hello sir i hope that u can answer my qst plz
In casse of when we want to understand the origine of mental delay that's correleted with chromosomal deletion and we use the ACGH do we fragments the patient DNA or not
i'm french , and i'm study a master in bioinformatic and today we started to study the data genomic analysis, and i didn't understand the teacher when she explains the microarrays method. i was completly lost but now you save my life, i get it. thank you very much man. Could you do a another video to explain how to analysis the data of miccroarrays with excel and R. it will be so answome.
I studied it before by myself but couldn't understand. Thanks for explaining in such an understandable format.
Very clear, thanks a lot!
you make it sound so easy! thanks!
is this part of any playlist or just a single video? thanks
This video is so helpful! Thanks Prof!
+fismail you're welcome
nice sir what is the name of software that is used in this topic?/
wonderful presentation..thank you
Excellent video!
This is so so amazing!
Can't thank you enough sir!
You're welcome
Thanks alot man!! explained in a very simplified manner :)
You're welcome. Glad to hear that you are getting benefit from the videos
Very well done! Ive been enlightened :)
sir, i want Data representation using micro-chip array via MATLAB. will you send that video to me.
Thank you sir , for uploading this vdo...it helps me to understand the concept.
You're welcome
Have question, what disables (referring to biochemistry here) the non expressed genes to hybridise with the dna probes in the microarray spots? Brilliant video, though. Did you make this for school students?
Thanks for this video, I needed It!
You're welcome
Thank you so much! :) I could understand a lot :) Have you got another video that explain more? Hugs from Argentina
Sir very urgent question. Are the healthy and unhealthy samples collected from same patient or from different people?
Very nice video...such a complicated topic made such as easy one....thank u sir...
Finally after alot of struggle understand it easily .
awesome vid for bio 1a student, thank you!
best video on the topic thanks!!
This vidio is very informative and easy to understand.😊
Great job!
Thank you so much this has been most helpful
You're welcome. Glad to hear that you're getting benefit from my lectures
One of the best video I hav ever seen
+Dheeraj KC glad to hear that
very informative ..it really helps me alot...GOOD JOB
Thank you for appreciating my efforts
Sir you are the greatest!!!
I have question what is the methodology, observation, and results of this experiment?
Excellent! Please do more videos like this! One of the ebst videos I have ever seen! Very clear and stunningly useful!
Your black board classes/ppt are much better than animated ones🙂
like all your videos such a great effort you do
You're welcome
Thank you soo much for making this topic very easy 🤗🤗🤗👍
You're welcome
Amazing video, good job
Thank you
Yes ... thank you ... this really is very good. However, what happens if the good cells 'hog' all the samples at a certain spot before the bad cells get there. By using the same array, is there not a possibility that the results could be incorrect?
Beautiful explaination.
Thank you
I understood this video. but , i have a question. my teacher say using annealing method in DNA microarray after applying , though this video does not refer it.
He probably meant to say the annealing of cDNA with the oligo present at the chip.
where is the rest part of this video?
you're great... thank you
Thank you so much. I have watched many videos on this topic but this is the only video that summarizes all I have learnt so far from the previous videos on this subject. The animation was spot on! :)100%
The question about how the buffer solution detached the mRNA from the column beads? I think it has to do with the breaking of the relatively weaker hydrogen bonds that exist between A-T base pair since they have fewer hydrogen bonds compared to G-C base pair. Please I hope this is right if not what is the answer?
I also have a question. Why do some microarray hybridizations use Biotin-cRNA for the labelling of the cDNA (they call it in-vitro transcription) in the sample instead of the labelling mix used in this video which would result in a labelled cDNA and not a labelled cRNA? Thank you.
Hello! Thanks for explaining the technique!! So hard to understand this only by reading papers!
Thanks a lot!
very understanding video
yes!! finally i understood!! thank you
Nice video and good animation.Kindly correct the mistakes in the narration given for the video so that it feels more professional
thank u sir for this video
