Why was the Czechoslovakia talent pool so born between 1955-57 beyond Peter Stastny so thin? The US talent pool was absolutely bettef. In fact beyond Canada the US absolutely produced more talent then Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia and Sweden.
A best USA Team for this tourney would have been G LoPresti - Reece D Sargent - Milbury Nyrop - Chartraw Larson - Langway Roberts C - Howe - Ftorek - Miller - Sheehan LW - Jensen - Fidler - Bolduc - Debol RW - Talafous - Rowe - Holmgren - W Miller Younghans That team given a month an 6-7 exhibition games would have been competitive with Czechoslovakia. 9 players from the '76 USA Canada Cup Squad plus some good NCAA Talent in Larson, Langway, Miller, Rowe, Fidler & Debol.
US had 3 forwards 20 years old. Two had just finished playing in 1977 Frozen Four Bobby Miller - UNH Dave Debol - UMichigan Tom Rowe - Washington Capitals Miller & Debol were the leading scorers. Rowe would become 1st US Player to score 30 goals in NHL during the 1978-79. He scored 31 in 69 games but suffered an injury. I don't think he was ever the same after. Dave Hynes played also, he played against my brother in HS.
05:33 Dzurilla's mask is terrifyingly cool, like a Gorilla from the opponents' point of view 🙂
