This is from one of my favorite films "Sabrina" (the 1995 version with Harrison Ford) sung by Sting (solo...I was just informed of that)

Worked in a movie theatre when this film was released. Cleaned up between showings while this song played over the credits. Danced in the aisle with my co-worker more than once, I admit it.

It's absolutely beautiful
This song personalizes the entire movie. Sultry, romantic, sophisticated, decadently rich, classy, magical and explicitly clean. The movie has Linus, older and worldly, ultimately coming together with Sabrina, younger but wiser and poised, just like this song, a mixture of old and worldly with the bossa nova, yet soft and young with Sting gently crooning it. A song and a movie to take my breath away, every time.

I was watching the movie "Sabrina" and this music is played at the end part. Right away it catched my attention because of the Bossa Nova beat which I love so much. Beautiful rendition of Sting, as always. And the movie, btw, is wonderful. Harrison Ford, aside from his usual "stud" roles in Indiana Jones and Star Wars, is also great in romantic roles.
I thought he looked too old in this personally. But I still love this movie. Julia Ormond is breathless

see the Bergmans once again keeping alive the tradition of the great American
lyricists. They've consistently been the best lyric writers of the last 30 years.
For me what really made this tune work was having Kenny Kirkland on piano. He has a beautiful sense of rhythm. His voicings always evoke deep emotions and when he suddenly makes those runs -- pure bliss. His lines go in directions that always surprise me. RIP Kenny. I hope you are still playing in heaven and making jazz angels happy.

Great song by John Williams, he always knows what to write. Sting's breathy vocals add a very nice sultry touch. I wonder who scored the arrangement. Has a Patrick Williams feel to it, but doesn't really sound like his work.
Lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman, if the arrangement wasn't done completely by John Williams, then Andrew Brown was the guy who did it...

I love the movie always have but I'm not sure of the Harrison Ford casting. He looks like her father not someone she would ever fall in love with. Idk
Be sure and catch the Humphrey Bogart / Audrey Hepburn version of Sabrina. They are both perfect in the lead roles and the supporting cast is wonderful.

Onlyonekiney I really like Sting too ,he is very talented and he does so much justice to this song ,I've heard it by others but Sting's rendition is magic. However, as far as his commitment to his marriage , well I hope so this time because Sting wasn't committed to his first wife , his current wife Trudie was a neighbor and a babysitter for his children by his first wife and pretended to be a friend to his first wife ,while all the time she and Sting were sleeping together and eventually succeeded in destroying his first marriage,then they got married. To me a committed man would wait until he got divorced before hooking up with someone else and certainly not deceiving his wife and helping her friend betray her... but that's just my opinion and it certainly doesn't take anything away from Sting's extraordinary talent.

It's a shame we don't hear more from Sting these days. He really hit the pavement running. I was living in Holland in 1980 and his music was on (The Police) quite a lot. As time passed, he & his music grew up and I enjoyed it more 'n more. Just miss the music and the times. I see he's still doing concerts here n there...

At first I thought it was written by a Brazilian composer because this is very much like a Brazilian style of music called 'MPB' (Popular Brazilian Music). Here's a video with Tom Jobim (Who is Brazilian and composed the Girl of Ipanema and many other songs this style) and Frank Sinatra singing Girl of Ipanema. Sting is one of my favorite Singers of all times. I love his songs, his style. And this song is really great. Thanks for posting.

I love it.................I was twenty-eight........happy and hopeful-it was a great year for me.......Julia Ormand's beauty and performance was notable, but Greg Kinnear's spontaneity added levity to the film. Harrison Ford always the consummate professional. This song at 55 still haunts me and am thankful for its resonance.
