The outward bank on the second hill of Steel Vengeance isn’t only the best airtime element but the best element. Quad down on Hot Rod plus the double down on The Phoenix put up a fight for amazing airtime moments.

My favourite airtime moments that I've experienced in no particular order are are 1: Millennium Force's drop in any seat in the back car; ( rows 17 and 18); 2: the outward banked hill on Steel Vengeance in the back car (rows 11 and 12), 3: The drop of Behemoth in the back car (rows 15 and 16); 4: the camelback on Behemoth in the front car (rows 1-2) 5-9 Behemoth's other camelbacks in the back; Coaster at Playland 10-16: (front single bench car for all camelbacks and back for 1st two drops, drop of the MCBR, the last southern turnaround and the 3rd and 2nd last camelbacks that face north in the back single bench car) 17: The drop of Leviathan in the back (even though I don't like it as much as the drop in the back car of MF or Behemoth), 18: the speed hill in Leviathan in the front row, and the 19: following camelback in either the front or back row. 20: The drop of Ghostrider, in the back row, 21; the following camelback in either the back or front; the drop of the 22; MCBR in the back, 23 the following lateral airtime speed hill in the back; my favourite element in Ghostider. 24: The drop after the launch of an Arrow shuttle looper; either of the two that made Lighting Loops at Six Flags Great Adventure or Revolution at Blackpool especially if guests avoid the inner two cars (4 rows).
That's 24 airtime moments from my 6 favourite coasters and two other coasters which aren't in my top six but are clones of each other (with different length trains) so I'm sure there's at least another 24 airtime moments on coasters I've forgotten to mention from my coaster credits which total less than 100 (if I don't include coasters that don't use gravity). Thanks for this great video!

For sustained airtime, don't sleep on I305's second hill under the lift. People don't think of airtime when they think of I305, but there are several outstanding airtime moments on the ride - even those whippy transitions will give a pop of ejector to one side of the train or the other.

The quad down is certainly legendary, but my personal favorite moment of airtime has to be the double camelbacks on El Toro. Those two hills along with the first drop try to rip your clothes off with how powerful it is.

As someone who has mostly only ridden coasters in FL..
    Sustained:
Iron Gwazi wave turn, first drop, last drop
    Velocicoaster tophat
    Mako 5 second hill
    Pops:
Iron Gwazi “double down” (Asian Camelback?)
    Velocicoaster Immelmann (only back row)
Ice Breaker double down and pop before tophat
    Upside down:
    Mosasaurus Roll (by far)
    Iron Gwazi death roll

I’m an ejector fan but Fury’s first drop is likely my favorite airtime moment of all time so far. It’s more like flying than anything else. Shocked just a bit that Twisted Timbers didn’t make the list. It has those consecutive ejector hills that are sustained!

    A little Europe Version:
    Ride to Happiness
The Tophat after the first launch has the most intense airtime i EVER felt. Especially backrow, going down backwards. Or in the Front when you shoot up
    Helix
The last big Airtime hill that also dives down the mountain and offers muuuch longer airtime as you expect when you Go up. Strong and sustained everywhere in the train, amazing work by mack
    Kärnan
The non inverted Sea serpent roll has mental negatives and laterals going up (ESPECIALLY first row left seat)
    Lost Gravity
The speedhill straight after the steep drop into the banked tophat thingy into the ejector hill is really really good, underrated coaster that is doomed by its 2nd half
    Star Trek operation enterprise
It has 3 little, different sized speedhills straight in one row that all offer strong ejector airtime. My fav moment on the ride :D
    FLY
Basically any airtime on this ride kicks 4ss, but especially the end of 2nd launch in the Front row offers super strong sustained airtime. You cant get ejected since its a flying coaster but you wouldnt need your restraint up there for sure
There are more but this should be enough... Mack knows how to do airtime

My favorite moment airtime moment is the highest point of Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens Tampa after the second launch. When you go up that near vertical spike before entering the figure eight turn, you really feel like you're standing up as you go over the top of it.
I don't want to say I don't care for airtime on roller coasters, but I will confess it's one of the last things I care for. I usually enjoy speed and whether the ride is smooth or not. Otherwise, I am not a picky rider, unlike some enthusiasts.

    Pops
    - Untamed Quedouble hills and Double down/up
    - Piraten Twisted Trio

    My favorites:
    All of skyrush's ejector moments
    Phantoms revenge finale
    SteVe outer bank
Phoenix finale (or Phoenix in general for that matter)
    Corkscrew (CP) ejector hill
    Maverick's 3 ejector moments
    Sky rocket (KW) top hat
    Magnum finale
Ravine flyer 2 both speed hills over the bridge
Honorable mention: Dragster (in the back row specifically) I was out of my seat from the top of the top hat to the bottom of the drop. It was at least 5 seconds, the most sustained moment ive experienced

A little surprised Steel Vengeance and El Toro were in the floater air time. I consider both more ejector. Here are some of my favorites:
Floater: Mako, Candymonium, Diamondback, Fury 325, and Phoenix (Knoebels), Millennium Force
Ejector: Lightning Rod, Steel Vengeance, Iron Gwazi, El Toro, Twisted Timbers, Maverick, Storm Chaser, SkyRush, Iron Rattler, Magnum XL-200, Phantom's Revenge, RMC Raptors (WWGL, RailBlazer, and Stunt Pilot)
Hang Time/Inversion: Velocicoaster, Pantheon (Stall is so good), Goliath (SFGAmerica), Twisted Colossus (Stall), Cannibal (Lagoon Roll)

The terms "ejector" and "floater" airtime are part of the coaster enthusiast lexicon and not scientific concepts in and of themselves. So the exact definition is up for debate. That said, I personally consider floater airtime as being when you experience zero gravity and ejector airtime as being when you experience negative gravity. I personally also consider this to only be when your physical orientation is generally upward and away from the earth, but if you just consider your orientation within your seat then hang time would also count.
In this regard, floater airtime is experienced either when you feel that your downward acceleration is equal to the downward acceleration of the your seat in the train. This is most common when you have a steep drop and have at least some degree of acceleration into that drop or if you have a vertical drop. However, you can also get that sensation if you hit the crest of a hill just before you lose all upward momentum so that you float out of your seat for some duration of that hill. While this can be a drawn out element, it certainly doesn't need to be. Many small hills on classic wooden coasters have floater airtime (as I define it) but it can just be a short pop. Great examples of floater airtime are vertical drops with no forward momentum (e.g. B&M dive coasters) or the first drops on coasters that are steep enough to bring you out of your seat (classic wooden coasters, camel backs on B&M hypercoasters when not in the very back seat.)
Ejector would then mean any time your acceleration upward exceeds the upward acceleration of your seat or your seat is pulled downward with a greater acceleration than your body. This is commonly found with hills that are approached with much more speed than would be required to reach the apex like speed hills and bunny hills. But that can also happen with more drawn out elements like the quarry dive on Iron Rattler. And because your position relative to your own seat is what matters, seats that are behind the center of gravity of the train can experience this same sensation on any drop as long as the drop is steep enough to bring you out of your seat because the center of gravity is ahead of you and therefore will pull the train downward with greater acceleration than what your body will experience. So in this regard, good first drops can produce ejector airtime regardless of how sustained or drawn out that airtime is. The best examples of this include the first drop on El Toro, B&M giga first drops and drops on Intamins with a top hat, but this is only true for seats toward the back of the train where the train is effectively being pulled out from underneath you.
    Just my take.

    • @TB_2006
      @TB_2006 2 года назад

My simple definition is purely based on how strong the airtime feels. If it feels like the ride is forcefully throwing me out of my seat, then I'd consider that ejector. If I feel like I'm floating out of my seat, then I'd say that's floater airtime. Anything that falls kinda in the gray area in between I'd say is flojector. Even then, there's a whole spectrum of airtime between moments of Skyrush's strength and the weaker hills on B&M hyper coasters. I also don't care how sustained the airtime is. You can have sustained ejector and quick pops of floater.

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 2 года назад

@@TB_2006 I think we're essentially describing the same concept. My explanation was a bit more long winded and wonky and yours was more succinct. Kudos.

    • @spentron1
      @spentron1 2 года назад

      Yes thank you.
_Sudden_ ejector sort of makes sense because sometimes you are on a trajectory to leave the seat, it just might not persist long enough you'd actually leave. Example: Phoenix. OTOH sustained ejector requires stronger restraints and upstops, burns up upwards momentum at an increased rate, and can provide good air in every row. Examples: most hills by RMC and Intamin.
Of floater, B&M clearly are in their own league, you might barely touch anything for seconds at a time. Newer ones get that in more rows too, but they all deliver.
El Toro's drop maybe is floaty for about .1 seconds, but then goes into negative Gs, and then more, and then even more before finally flinging you down into your seat. Skyrush tries to give you that full strength all the time. ;)
