Hey man glad you finally got your LE...awesome stuff. The oil c02 is for you to use every 500 rounds. Byrna recommends to oil it every 500 rounds. You can use the c02 or use their brand mineral oil...no pellgun oil. The LE is great. Definitely wish byrna made a new mold for the LE because it looks so ugly with the boost. They made a longer barrel but did not make a longer chamber...weird.
Thanks for demonstrating the BYRNA LE which is advertised @16 joules. Wow, you got 29.61 joules on the first shot & 18+ joules after that. It will be a great one to buy, so I don't have to modify it. I still haven't modified the power or painted my T4E HDP 50 & I don't need to now I'll just buy the black version of the BYRNA LE.
A second question... If you ever figure out how to mod them for slightly higher power, please let us know. I'd love to see the SD and the EP doing 20 Joules and the LE keeping that 28-30 Joules for at least the first 5-7 shots. Can't wait to see the Umarex HDB and the HDX getting modded by you.

That would be my guess. I was talking to a fellow RUclipsr about disassembling the burner, and he said that it looked like it was literally designed like a time bomb to explode when taken apart. :-) my guess is that they honed out the internal cylinder to hold a bit more air. A little bit of air on the inside is a great deal of increase on power on the outside. Also, it does have me wondering what kind of power you get out of that primary shot with an extended barrel. Perhaps we will find out :-)

As an old retired organic petroleum chemist, I was interested in your comment about pellgun oil. As you mentioned, pellgun oil is a petroleum-based oil. I've often wondered what it would do to the seals in the Byrna. Note that the Byrna oil from the Byrna Oiler Kit is described as a "mineral lubricant oil." This would make it similar to the pellgun oil, at least in the base component. I wonder what oil is used in the oil cartridge contained in the box of Byrna CO2 cartridges? The T4E Marker Oil I have seen you use with the Umarex weapons is silicone based. Would T4E oil be ok to use with the Byrna? I share these questions out of curiosity. Perhaps your contacts at Byrna could help clarify some of these issues. To be safe, I use T4E Marker Oil with my Umarex weapons, and Byrna oil with my Byrna LE. I have never used pellgun oil. I would appreciate any thoughts you may have. I love your channel, and I loved this episode. I had my Byrna LE nearby while I watched.
Greets! Thats EXACTLY the type of input I was hoping for! I had a gentleman with a background similar to yours tell me that the pell gun oil can cause the degradation of the seals. I haven't personally verified, nor would I even know where to start, but his explanation and yours seem reasonable. I'm using the T4E oil myself. As for what's in the C02 cart labels "oil", I sent an email to them right after this posted. We shall see what the response is.
Ok i just orded this LE in orange. But im worried its going to be big and awkward to carry around. And i wish i knew where or whom could give me one to one instruction.
@CompleteTechnologySolutions Also, I have been thinking.... like where and when should I have it on me. We can't always have it. Like going to work.... (I have to walk across this long parking lot.) Going swimming at the beach, traveling out of country. Walking around NYC? I bet people can't take it to school? Does extreme temperatures affect it? Should I hang it in that compartment flap on the inside of my camping tent? What if a branch hits it, will it go off? Shooting my eye out? Should I sit on the couch with it holstered to my yoga pants, while I await for the pizza delivery guy? Should I use it on a mass shooter in Walmart? Should I always have it in the bathroom when I take a shower? Should I keep it locked up? I'm joking but I'm not! Should I take it to the movies???? If so, how do I hide a Byrna LE on me when I'm wearing a tee shirt in 98 degrees weather out? Don't say to store it in my car either because the reason I bought one was because someone smashed our car windows and went through my glove box the other day. At home. Then I got to thinking, this will be good to have when I go on my hikes or am on my bicycle. Then again, will it be in my way? Riding a bike. I mean, I'm somewhat serious, and somewhat being funny. The reality is that I'm not always going to be armed. I guess I just hope I am if I really needed it. Btw, I live in Connecticut. So recap: #1 How to use it, etc. #2 Where and when. BTW, I'm just curious....what happens if someone is hit in the nose, ears, eyes, throat, knees, or groin with these? Should you? And what if it's 5 degrees out and your attacker is wearing layers of coats? And btw, I guess I should start wearing gloves instead of mittens? So I can operate this thing. As is, I can never even push the button up fast enough on my flashlight stun gun. If you're laughing or think I'm crazy. That's fine. But I shall have this Byrna LE in my possession by tomorrow. Thanks!
Great question and I just confirmed with byrna. You’re supposed to use one of those cartridges for every 500 rounds put through the launcher. It just oils all of the internal parts. I would probably use them a little more frequently but that’s what I was told.
No, they hit very very hard. However, they have a lot of contenders crawling up from behind them, so they better be careful :-) they’re king of the hill at the moment, but who knows what’s coming.
Good day Jon. I'm curious about the LE model. I've seen several different people testing this particular model. However, I haven't seen anybody do the off safety puncture and shoot with the LE model. As you know the power is supposed to be reduced when using it in that manner. Depending on the situation that could be the more likely use in an emergency. All the Le versions seem to have a much higher-powered first shot. I believe it would be interesting to see how that works on this model when using the puncture and shoot not using the safety at all. Perhaps all the subsequent shots are more powerful than after puncturing it on safety and firing. Just a thought. Thanks again for all your hard work involving the less-lethal community. A quick edit. I just found your newer comparison with the byrna models and I believe this question was address although I haven't watched the video yet. Thanks again.
I'm watching it right now. I understood your point of why you're doing this I didn't notice the video till after I commented. That's why I edited. Some of the people perhaps didn't understand what you were talking about at the beginning concerning puncture & fire. Byrna perhaps is realizing people want more power although they may be concerned about exactly doing that. Legal ramifications ecetera. I do want to comment about bright colors being used on some less lethal launchers. As you know actual firearms are available in wonderful bright colors as well. Law enforcement does not have the luxury to make determinations by colors which weapon maybe a firearm or not. Also, as shown less lethal could still stop somebody including police. Thank you again for all your hard work.
Oh, there’s no comparison brother. The LE is considerably more powerful and has a much higher payload. However, once you modify the HDP 50, it becomes more powerful.
How was thinking on buying one, but after so many videos I saw on youtube it haven't convinced me yet that this is possible to stop a person or persons trying to hurt you or your family or else... Still looking for alternatives sadly...
Hey brother, welcome to the family. I can understand your trepidation, but I can also tell you after hundreds and hundreds of tests. I am 100% advanced of these will put a person down without having to kill them. Also, I am 100% convinced that you should mix a mix of kinetic rounds with a high-quality pepper ball round. Thanks for watching!
The difference in power must be in the valve assembly. I wonder if that would swap into my existing SD. And I can't deal with that hokey extender. It looks goofy, and it places lasers and lights mounted below the rail too low. Not to mention having to buy new holsters. Definitely not in my budget.
Understood brother, you might take a look at the salt supply S2. It maybe exactly what you’re looking for. have any of us up on it as well as head-to-head comparison’s.
Thank you Jon for sharing your initial review and tests! I wonder how your 7rd magazine tests turn out. Will it do 7+1 with chem payloads without cracking? I know it will load 7+1 solid balls, but maybe it depends on what kind of chem ball youre using. Thanks agin Jon!
@@AlternateArmsSD The 2x 10 extenders I got are amazing, and could still fit for EDC, as my torso is quite large. And, the 14 extenders, though too chunky for EDC, make for a great home defense LTL sidearm. They greatly improve the capabilities of the Byrna.
L.L.A.F. did a short video of a police chase where their Byrna leaked all the air at once... Guess they didn't tighten the front seal all the way. I've had it happen when I didn't tighten mine quite enough LoL 😆
For those who don't know Police departments require the non-lethal guns be orange color for visual confirmation is Not firearm. This applies even to personnel who purchase/use their own.
@@AlternateArmsSDI am planning on getting an orange LE/SD (or EP) when I get the chance for that exact reason. The Tan one I am using is nice looking but may not be signaling the right thing using it for EDC. Either way, I'm glad that Byrna is innovating. And still, the 7 rd mags are nice and worth testing.
Depends upon state. I am approved by state, county, and city. I carry a black launcher. Have been seen by PD carrying. Only comment was, how does your lancer compare to byrna
@@brotre3 i’m planning ahead to head with the Byrna and the Lancer, but I’ll be honest, I don’t think that the hornet or the scorpion is going to be able to keep up with the power output of the Byrna. However, they are both easier to conceal for sure.
I’ll see if I can locate one. The funny thing is, it’s not just the impact, or how little the mask actually offered protection, but how much is buried in skully behind the mask. It’s like it didn’t even exist :-)
how fast can it repeat , every video shows click......click...............click. dump the mag as fast as you can in one camera shot with reload speed please
You know, I think your right. Part of me thinks that retooling a factory to make a different launcher is far more expense that just adding on the extension. We shall see.
I wouldn't want the colored one. I'd want mine to look as much like an actual firearm as possible. I'd prefer the person I'm forced to draw on thinks it's likely a firearm. That is far more likely to deter them than if they think it's a CO2 gun.
@@MrPbip Fortunately, we don’t live in the OK corral and most humans aren’t supermen. Pava and OC will put the baddest boy down fast. Also, don’t forget the most important rule, don’t pull it until you are prepared to use it.
No, you will not crack a skull unless you are incredibly close. However, it would definitely be a debilitating shot that would stop the attacker. Also, if you mix a pepperball into that, the game is over.
Keep in mind, Scully, while he is printed dense, is not as hard as human skull. I have a ballistics gel dummy ordered and when it comes in, we’re going to do some very close range testing with these. At the average engagement range of 3 to 5 m it would absolutely not be deadly. However, that’s not to say it would be pleasant. :-)
You can see him come closer to the target in the reflection before he fires. This was DEFINITELY not an honest review. Really disappointed in this. I like john😢
Hands down the worst joule/dollar launcher available. Good for what it is, but poor when compared to anything else. 4x the price of a Umarex HDR/HDP with the same power......or less after shot 2. Ouch.
That’s a fact, with umarex weapons, you can get a lot of power with a few modifications. However, out of the box in stock form, it’s hard to rival that kind of performance. However, it does make me want to get the Grimburg in here even more! :-)
What are the laws as far as pulling one of these on someone? And being able to actually shoot it? Is it possible to get into legal trouble upon using this ?

Thanks!
Ill see if I can put something together ;)@@danab172
Will do!@@danab172
Bro one answer what is the realistic gun that shoots the hardest. Most power point period
@@Ernestosgarage Byrna LE, Pepperball trp, salt supply s2, gavle, or the pistelle 68.
Can you remove the 12 gram adapter from the le to make it more compact?
Yes you can! You just lose a few shots.
great video !!!!!!!
Thanks Brother!
How many effective shots from one co2 cartridge?
On the LE I found that it would fire around 14 on one C02. However, you change the magazines which eliminates the need for reloads.
What is the oil air cartrige is for
Great question and I just confirmed with byrna. You’re supposed to use one of those cartridges for every 500 rounds put through the launcher. It just oils all of the internal parts. I would probably use them a little more frequently but that’s what I was told.
I'm so confused I thought these Bernas were weak but they seem strong given that joule rating.
No, they hit very very hard. However, they have a lot of contenders crawling up from behind them, so they better be careful :-) they’re king of the hill at the moment, but who knows what’s coming.
Can we modify these so they shoot harder
Give us time Brother :) Folks are working on it now.
Watch my head to head brother! Its the next video... (I caught so much flack for testing it like that) :)
Thank you again for all your hard work.
wielding a butterfly knife like you do, tells me you married Filipino girl! 😊
Hehe no, just a TON of experience with them since I was about 8 :)
how do you think this is compared to the hdr50 11 joule
What if you charge it then carry it. Will it leak?
The beauty of that launcher is that you don’t have to charge it until you need it.
Thanks Brother! I don't think Id risk it... There simply isn't any play when that magazine is topped off with 7.
Yeah, I hear you on that. They make for great hosts for Mr Wixon’s 10 and 14 extenders! I’m guessing that too is on the list for testing.
@@JackofNothingess They are indeed! I have SO many emails to send out :)
Do me a favor Brother, will you shoot me their info.. Jonreynoldscts@gmail.com@@JackofNothingess
if possible can you do a test with the byrna boost removed from the LE with an 8 gram co2 ? if possible...... love your videos keep up the good work
Hey man! I have a whole Byrna series planned now :)
L.L.A.F. did a short video of a police chase where their Byrna leaked all the air at once... Guess they didn't tighten the front seal all the way. I've had it happen when I didn't tighten mine quite enough LoL 😆
Oh, now that would SUCK :) Maintenance and practice are always a good thing ;)
For those who don't know Police departments require the non-lethal guns be orange color for visual confirmation is Not firearm. This applies even to personnel who purchase/use their own.
Yes indeed! Ive actually had folks buy launchers BECAUSE they were orange due to restrictions in their states/countries or just personal preference.
I'm glad I just irdered an orange one then.
Mid 300s is still capable I would say
Oh yeah! This would get the job done for sure.
Only one to say about it NICE
Its a hitter for sure ;)
it would of been better if you used a paintball mask to show the difference between paintball markers and these launchers
It can repeat as fast as you can pull the trigger. I have to put them in the time between shots for accuracy and the Chrono.
i think they would have built a new longer body for it if the economy wasn't so bad the last few years.
You know, I think your right. Part of me thinks that retooling a factory to make a different launcher is far more expense that just adding on the extension. We shall see.
Their "blood orange" isn't as bad as "blaze orange"
VERY true! Im also thinking a dye job might be in order.. but .... we shall see :)
I wouldn't want the colored one. I'd want mine to look as much like an actual firearm as possible. I'd prefer the person I'm forced to draw on thinks it's likely a firearm. That is far more likely to deter them than if they think it's a CO2 gun.
I would tend to agree. However, there are some states that simply don't allow them. Its a shame really.
Until the person U-Pull-It on pulls out a real gun
@@MrPbip Fortunately, we don’t live in the OK corral and most humans aren’t supermen. Pava and OC will put the baddest boy down fast. Also, don’t forget the most important rule, don’t pull it until you are prepared to use it.
Let's say they have a gun. You shoot them in the head with a pepper ball. Are they toast?
No, you will not crack a skull unless you are incredibly close. However, it would definitely be a debilitating shot that would stop the attacker. Also, if you mix a pepperball into that, the game is over.
@@AlternateArmsSD Execelent 🦸♂️
Looks like to me it would kill you , not less lethal
Keep in mind, Scully, while he is printed dense, is not as hard as human skull. I have a ballistics gel dummy ordered and when it comes in, we’re going to do some very close range testing with these. At the average engagement range of 3 to 5 m it would absolutely not be deadly. However, that’s not to say it would be pleasant. :-)
You can see him come closer to the target in the reflection before he fires.
This was DEFINITELY not an honest review.
Really disappointed in this.
I like john😢
What are you talking about? It was the EXACT same distance.
This is not a firearm. The same laws that would apply to this would apply to pepper spray. I’d verify the laws and regulations in your local areas
Hello sir is James pixie Canada could you let me know the shop number so I can talk to you would be great Ty.
Hiya James! Shoot me an email Brother! Jonreynoldscts@gmail.com
@@AlternateArmsSD aww man lol Ok I understand. After I look at the list you sent me I found it thank you by the way 😊. I am going to look through the whole list and then just go to you tube too see what everything is first then give you a shout with e mail. One other quick question can I use the pre pay credit card they sell in town as long as it is a Visa ? This way I won’t have to bug my mother to use her card to pay. It would make it a lot easier on my end I really do not like to use other peoples credit cards if I can use my own . I have used the pre pay visa with cabelas a couple of times and had no problems. So if that’s ok I will send you a E mail tomorrow if that is ok . Thank you John
