The overall dynamics of this machine are incredible! Every inch of this thing is just very satisfying and classy.. and that engine is something special. Sounds really good, and for it to have a smaller motor and produce good performance is really nice. The smaller motor and other little quirks gives this vehicle a very attractive and unique character
Some people say this interior is already dated, but I think it's the opposite. Mazda designed it so well back in 2016 that it still keeps up with new offerings from competitors. The CX-9 is so much value for the money.
Witsend Cottage I mean yeah it’s somewhat dated, but they replaced it with a larger and higher resolution screen for 2020. Hopefully the next gen has better infotainment integration into the dashboard.
I agree. While I will say the dashboard/infotainment is somewhat dated, it’s not like it feels that way. Mazda has always had quality interiors for their price.
I extremely appreciate the fact that you incorporated a completely distraction-free 0-60 acceleration section of the video because WOW that engine sounds like heaven!!! I can't stop listening to it!
I’m as impressed with my CX-9 Signature as I was when I bought it. The new one seems to exhibit much less road noise than my 2016. I cannot fathom the captains chairs in the second row. That should be an option for all trim levels. They built the CX-8 so they could sell a lwb 7 seat CX-5. I think a no bench option on the higher trim CX-9 is going to cost Mazda, in terms of sales figures. See, I need a middle bench. I wouldn’t want to trade down from my Signature to a GT-unless I could take my auburn Napa leather bench seats with me. They need to figure something out or I may have to get something else. This middle row captain chair thing is an industry fad. Do not like to see Mazda joining in with it. I bought the CX-9 Signature specifically because it was the highest trim level vehicle I could find that had a middle bench.
Depreciation is a blessing (maybe not in 2022 with used car prices being so high). Wait for the CX-70 and CX-90 to launch and the prices on these will crash
I clocked 7.5 seconds to 60 on a wet(?) and cold road with some wheel slip (10:19 mark). Probably on a dry, warmer day this would be around 7 secs which is properly quick for a 3-row, non-luxury crossover.
I wish manufacturers would do away with the "dash mounted iPad" look. There has to be a better way to integrate a screen into an interior. It looks like it was an afterthought every time I see it plunked on top of the dash like that.
They sorta have in newer models. Mazda's latest infotainment setup (seen in the '19+ Mazda3 and upcoming CX-30) have better integrated displays. That said, the screen will almost always be placed up top, rather than lower in the center console. It's done for visibility reasons; it's more intuitive to be able to check info while driving if the screen remains in your peripheral vision.
I think I heard the paint chip four times during this short drive. Is the special wood worth the jump to Signature trim? Does it do anything better than the Sport or touring trims? As the driver, can I tell a difference? Some of us don't like leather seats or sun/panoroofs.
We have no way of knowing for sure, but the 10 lb-ft bump is likely negligible. However, all CX-9s (since 2016) make 23 extra horsepower on premium gas, and that would likely be more noticeable.
Is it 6 seater or 7 seater?? Does the central panel in the rear seat goes back into the seat? And looks like the central speedometer is digital while rest are analogue..
For 2020, Mazda added captain's chairs to the second row of top-level Signature models, making this one a six-seater. Lower trims still have seven seats. And yes, only the center speedo is digital.
Winding Road Magazine Thank you. I prefer analogue speedometer it just looks cool and I believe from a family point of view 7 seater might be preferable depending on what features are lacking.. However, thank you for your review as always I enjoyed it.. Keep up the good work..
@@AK-ce8lg The digital speedometer in 2019/2020 Mazda CX-5 & CX-9 (maybe others, I just have experience with specifically these) has an option where you can turn off all of the extra info on the screen to make it look like a classic analogue speedometer with a long needle, with the exception of the outside temperature on the bottom left and mileage on the bottom right. I find some digital speedometers look very tacky depending on how they're implemented but this one is very nice looking in person. Here's some shots from the owners manual that has examples of what you can do with the screen in the middle: imgur.com/a/UL65oVY
Thanks to this, I got to see this new 8" (edit: 9") screen and confirmed it's using the same software. And saw the captains chairs in the second row (and apparently there's white piping now). Did you wash it before the end? I know for a fact Soul Red loves to get super dirty in these conditions. Also when you mess up (say forget to show a feature when you had the chance), do you re-do it?
So much potential to be the best in its class, but Mazda seems to always be content with be a “B” student. Give this thing at least a solid 300 hp engine, a panoramic sunroof, remote start and move the infotainment screen at least an inch closer for shorter drivers. If they would do that this vehicle would give some luxury vehicles a run for the money.
Thanks for watching! We have reviewed a 2019 CX-5 if you'd like to check it out ruclips.net/video/RhqY_i8tQRI/видео.html. We will cover a CX-30 as soon as we can!

I don't think it will. The Ford exploder just started with that shitty infotainment system.
If you look at the new Mazda 3 interior this one really is dated though.

Sounds like it lost traction tho, even the light for it came off briefly - maybe the snow had a part to play
Love the sound when you touched the steering wheel.
You recorded the best video of Cars. 👌🏻

It has dual-pane windows that help keep it more quiet!
I see this as not car review video i see this as satisfying video
I love the CX9, always have. I would buy one in an instant if I could justify the 45k price tag lol
Hehe
You can go for a lower trim.

You need to come back and do the 2021 Cx9 they made some improvements new infotainment system

Lateco Braxatoris as quiet as audi q7, seriously.

Neat vehicle I want the 2020 mazda6 when it comes
Not a big fan of the 4-cylinder engine, but the rest of this car is AMAZING!
That is a pretty decent size vehicle. I really hope you can get your hands on a CX-30.
Wie immer Mazda Zoom ZoomZoomZomm 🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍💗💗
Schade das es den nicht bei uns gibt !
Yes
You might as well turn this into an ASMR channel since it’s so relaxing.
Only thing wrong with the interior: the outdated infotainment.
good thing it's not touch screen.
And the way it sticks out the dash.
i love it that it sticks out the dash, and it is touchscreen when not in movement

These are nice! I was surprised and slightly disappointed to see that it has a manual sun shade on the sunroof, though.
It's only manual for opening the cover
@@serolp6244 Oh I know. I prefer the electronic ones. It's a little more premium, but this car makes up for it in other ways.

Markus Williams
Q7 of course
If it is the 2.0 the Mazda may be faster, both engines make similar power iirc.
heavy car build on weak engine will consume a lot of fuel plus i really hate automatic transmission . but nice review from you
