Not sure what everyone is freaking out about. Almost every character can do this if you just plink H~L then jump MH. It's just slightly better on Vergil cause helm breaker, wolverine can do the exact same thing but it dive kicks.
So, I play Morrigan/Doom/Vergil, on Hitbox, using the Pope Select layout and have been for the last ~5-6 months. I'm considering switching my dash setup on the bottom row to S H+M L A2 so that I can utilize this tech as well as plink dash with Doom easily (I can only do the uf/df tridash with him in flight mode). I can also plink dash using the top row H~L+M fairly consistently, and the only times I use it are with Morrigan (who has 0f unfly and soul fist coverage to make my bad plinks safe) or to backdash with Vergil. I understand that using L~H+M sacrifices the Pope Select as we know it, but none of my characters can really seem to abuse it. Do you think it makes sense to switch to H+M in this instance or am I missing another application? I tend to get bad inputs when I mash H+M on the top row so I'm definitely interested in doing away with all these problems like this.
Doom abuses pope select to no end, so it's worth keeping. Keep the pope select layout, but change the L+M button to L+M+H. You get everything. Vergil shenanigans while charging RT, plink dash, doom plink dash, pope select etc. That's what I'm using now. To plink dash with Doom, plink down from M to L+M+H. Kick out your elbow so your arm is perpendicular and you can use the same fingers and muscle memory as your normal plinks.
HitBox Dustin Damn, that is really hard to do consistently. I'll have to wait for a Doom Pope Select video because I definitely don't fully grasp how to abuse it with him. I have one more question: does it make sense to try to do upforward+LMH, down forward+LMH (in a matter of up to two frames for maximum speed) or do you have to do forward+LMH, uf, df, LMH all as separate inputs? (so up to four frames for max speed)
prodiGtv If I understand your question correctly, using SOCDs you can get a prefect pinball dash with no fluff inputs to slow you down; a perfect UF/DF alternation: Hold Down-Forward, then alternate [Up+LMH, LMH]. This works because DF+U = Up-Forward. Just use your right thumb to make pinball dashing dumb-easy! Similarly, Hold F and alternate [U+LMH, LMH] and you will dash F/UF perfectly and hug the ceiling. Any interest on a tutorial for this?
But why people are complaining like this is exclusive to Vergil? EVERY CHARACTER CAN DO THIS! You just need to plink H+M for the dash. This is a bit old tech to be honest, this is like Wolverine vanilla day 1 tech lol.
i think it's just particularly stupid with vergil considering he's the only one with a mashable dash, not a plink dash making it unbelievably easy to do while others have to execute clean plink dashes or risk whiffing a normal.
Hey has anyone seem the ability Vergil gets with the Swords pointing forward he can cancel his normals as long as you remember how many you have. I think he gets high-low mixups hope I am wrong.
when you switch to it you get a hi-low and yea you can cancel normals but the normal cancelling isn't that bad. it costs 2 bars as well so if it fails it's a waste of 2 spiral swords. This however is the derpiest shit ever. it's so spammable and just safe and easy and...

but you can grab rapid slash.. if thats os is true for falling characters shouldnt they grab you if its teched then you still get hit by swords?
