  • We’ve released the STORM 80c and 1000c which comes with many innovative features standard to the STORM family, such as IP65 weather protection, ProLock Bowens Mount, and advanced control options. One of those features exclusive to the STORM C-series lineup is the ground-breaking BLAIR-CG light engine, which mixes blue, lime, amber, indigo, red, cyan, and green color chips to offer unmatched color performance with 90% of the Rec2020 color space.
    But what does that look like? Ted and Tim go in-depth with the discussion about spectral fidelity and break down the tests that have been conducted to show how BLAIR-CG elevates the standard for film RGB LED lighting everywhere. In this walkthrough, we’ll cover what BLAIR-CG is, how it compares to traditional RGB light engines on the market currently, and what it means for filmmaking.

    The crazy thing about this video is that years ago I was told by my Gaffer to watch that Indy Mogul video about RGBLED lighting and gels 2:59. It was a very informative video and I learned A lot about LED coloured lights from that. Fast forward to this video they reference that same video about six years ago and now RGBLED lighting has completely transformed. I love how film Always keeps evolving.

      600C mk2 released earlier this year, so it will take time for this.

    • @EffectiveCommunications
      @EffectiveCommunications 2 месяца назад

      @@Aputure-Tim_S_Kang I know there may be fear to cannibalize the 600c mk2, but I believe it needs to be done. If there is BLAIR-CG in this range, it is tempting to buy units to fill out the entire range for Owner-Ops. I like many, hesitate because I have 1200d's when I need punch. I have nanlite 60c's for when I need little specials (especially with spotlights). It is tempting to dump all of these and get a full BLAIR package, if it existed, but instead I will wait until there is a mid-range BLAIR unit because I'm not going to mix in the old tech of the 600c. Another important note, can the mid-range BLAIR-CG please have the ballast and control built in? I think having a separate ballast is unnecessary until it is a much more powerful and heavy light. The Prolycht 675 was excellent for this reason - a separate ballast is a waste of time on set until we get to big lights. Unless of course you have a rare powerful head lightweight combo - for instance, the original nanlite forza 500 mk1 was this exceptional lightweight head with punch. Thanks for all you're doing to push the light quality forward in our industry! Best of luck.

      @@EffectiveCommunications Two arguments people make against an all-in-one light.
      1 - Heavier light means beefier junior-pin stands. For a mid-sized light many prefer a baby pin stand.
      2 - Difficulty running off batteries. Lots of clients enjoy sticking a couple bricks on the ballast for easy mobility. You could stick a battery adapter on the stand and run this to the lamp head, but it will be far less convenient.
      We went through this same dilemma when I was at Prolycht. Ultimately the design of the 675 was such that the lamp head was going to be pretty heavy even if the ballast wasn’t in it, so that sealed the deal to me by removing one of the two above arguments. And as much as many people appreciated that design there were plenty more who complained because of the reasons I just gave. There’s logic on both sides.

    • @EffectiveCommunications
      @EffectiveCommunications 2 месяца назад

      @@mitchgross592 indeed both designs have logic. You have more idea where the customer base is landing at large. Perhaps you have enough market share to make two models? I generally don’t like the idea of draining batteries in less than an hour (neither do the longevity of the batteries), so something like a lightweight / boom-able 300-400 with separate ballast that runs off two v mount or gold mount - 26v and 14v and a 600 that has the ballast in the head? I am definitely in the world of ecoflow battery with a/c inverter when I get to bigger units when I need portable power (or gas generator). Thanks for looking into it!
