You've been picking some good ones! 😊 It really is a legendary video, one of the first big ones. It exposed RUN DMC to a wider audience, and it revived Aerosmith's career.
Great reaction Lead singer of Aerosmith name is Steven Tyler, I was a kid when this song came out and I was one of the kids that was into hip hop and rock which was not a very cool opinion back then so when this came out it was an eye opener for a lot of people.
Story about DMC, I was an off Duty Police Sergeant, in the 1990s. I was doing bodyguard work for DMC, at an autograph signing, at a CD store called, Coconuts. After they left, the manager approached me, and showed where DMC stole over a 100 CDs ! Are you kidding me ? Lol. So, I don't think to highly of them. Lol
Hey girl - Kathy here - When you did Dream On, I recommended for you to check this Collab out as it is so great and funny! And I can tell you really liked it! So glad you checked it out, and man you were jamming to this one! Loved the smile on your face! Glad you liked it!
The story goes that when this came along; specifically when their 'Greatest Hits' album hit #1, Steven Tyler was somewhere waiting for his dealer to turn up. He nearly died before they re-hit the big time and became to legends they are today; not that they weren't before, but the fame they had the first time around nearly killed them. Covers like Run DMC's were part of what saved them, kerk
My fav all time Rock band is Aerosmith.. but they were a decade b4 my time music wise.. I'm a child of the 80's.. loved my hair bands especially.. but I remember when Aerosmith and Run DMC came out with this.. reignited Aerosmiths career like crazy... but ICONIC... This is FIRE
This was 1986. Run DMC had a couple year run as the Kings of Rap (1986 saw the Beastie boys become the first platinum selling rap group and they started Def Jam records with Rick Rubin). Their popularity stifled, and Aerosmith having a few years of splitsville due to drug problems, this was a revival for both groups. LL Cool J, Public Enemy, and Kool Moe Dee also made their debut into American culture in 1986.
Such a fun video from when life was actually FUN! Now, you gotta check out Anthrax/Public Enemy Bring The Noise. It was originally a Public Enemy song but Scott Ian from Anthrax want ed to do a metal version with Public Enemy. VERY VERY AWESOME!!
💣This was **literally** how white people were introduced to rap. 1986📆 📕This is actual history right here.📖 Next up: Beasties: "You've gotta Fight For your Right To paaaaaaaaaaaaarty"

It's not a collab, but "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard is LEGENDARY in my book.

Might’ve been the first time rock and rap got mixed together, and the result was total fire.
