G'day Dom, thanks for sharing. Well I spent my youth fishing the stragglers, but that was 60 years ago. Last night I fished solo in my 25ft wooden boat. I did not get back to the Marina till 11pm, absolutely wrecked......You know, "Might be another" or "Just one more cast". Had a great night with KGW, Pinkys and squid. 75 years old and still rocking it Dom, over here in Vic... Cheers. Oh forgot to vote........In my opinion, the best eating fish is 45mm flathead.

Over here in Victoria Dom, the sand flatties are quite the table fish…very sweet white flesh. The KG’s are renown for their flavour but the humble flatties (especially sandies) are very welcome. Love the video, especially your “rustic” cooking techniques. Backyard Chef Master!
Hey Dom I love the flavour of flathead but KG's will always be nostalgic for me and I'll always rank them as my top. Was brought up in Rockingham fishing with the grandparents, and we'd always score a dozen or so KG's out in Shoalwater bay. Those weekend fish tucker lunches were some of the best of my childhood!

I fish Port Phillip Bay in Geelong and surrounding areas and I think both KG Whiting and Flathead are excellent table fish but as you have shown its about the love you put into the cooking. Personally I spend a lot of effort chasing KGees because they are sooo good.
Good Lord man 😮 sweet fried flathead fillets on a cracker , the cream from my apple pie , the coke from my rum , how many bush chooks did you have to ask which is better “ dogs or caviars “ there is no comparison, goodness gracious me ,I have to go and get another glass of rum and gather my thoughts 😂cheers 🍗 🍻 🐓 🍺
Yes my vote goes to flathead though the ocean KGs are great eating. Rate yellowfin and sand whiting over KGs but Spanish Flag is my favourite enjoyed the episode Cheers.
Hi Dom. Prefer the flathead because the flesh seems to swell up when cooking and gets nice and chunky. Nothing wrong with KG though. Keep up the good work.

I like both, flathead taste great but the advantage with KG's is they are easier to find. You catch a big flathead and you can fish that spot another 20 times without getting another one, KG spots are a bit more predictable. During the demersal ban KG and flathead fishing is gold IMO
As a South Australian this is going to sound like blasphemy but Flathead over KG any day of the week, Kg Whiting in my opinion is over rated, its not really a fish that has much flavour. i would rather eat yellowfin whiting, Garfish, Silver Trevally, Mulloway, Shark,Letherjacket and of course Flathead over KG Whiting.

I haven't tried the River for fatties much cause I seem to catch heaps as by catches out in the ocean. Glad you're into them and catching a few👍🍻

Mate I prefer the flathead from the ocean if it was from the swan river they taste muddy but to judge between both I would eat both. But not together
