"miss those days when players had no need to worry about being hurt by fans/crowd" absolutely. We worshipped our sporting heroes. No Indian would have hurt a single hair on the head of Srikkanth, Shastri, Gavaskar. Had anybody done so, the rest of the fans would have dealt with him. Even today, which Indian fan will countenance another 'fan' creating disturbance for Virat or Jinx or Che? We will put that fan in his place.
Yashpal Sharma and Mohinder Amarnath won us this World Cup. Mohinder Amarnath was an excellent swing bowler who took crucial wickets at crucial stages and scored high quality runs as a middle order batsman saving his team. Yashpal Sharma was an excellent player against fast bowling and he was a very attacking batsman who dared to play pull shots and hook shots against the fast bowlers. He was an underrated batsman. So this World Cup belonged to Mohinder Amarnath (allround performance), Yashpal Sharma (semifinal knock which took us to the finals), Kapil Dev (175*) & others like Madan Lal, Roger Binny (crucial breakthroughs). Balwinder Singh Sandhu was remembered for his dismissal of dangerous Gordon Greenidge in the finals🙂 But again, it was Mohinder Amarnath in the finals..... 👏👏👏👏 Mohinder Amarnath was a product of Nepotism (son of Lala Amarnath), but still Mohinder Amarnath proved it wrong by giving outstanding performances. Mohinder Amarnath had some issues with the selection committee and he was knocked out of the team. Mohinder Amarnath famously termed the BCCI selectors as "Bunch of Jokers" after he was dropped from the team. Mohinder Amarnath was a genuine alrounder India has ever produced as he was technically a much better batsman than Kapil Dev. Mohinder Amarnath was an excellent player of hook shots. India could never produce a genuine alrounder like Mohinder Amarnath again till date (match winning medium pacer/match winning batsman).
Watched this match live ,,,,it was incredible, 1983 WC was like a never ending dream...even most diehard Indian supporter never expected us to win the cup...even today it seems so unreal !!
I liked the way Willis arranged his field for the last ball. Get halfway to the pavilion chaps. He knew what was coming from the previous ball. "RUN LADS".
Just plain simple cricket which makes it more exciting. Golden days, one doesn't get to experience the crowd running on to the field anymore. Pure Unadulterated excitement and passion.
The players were less agile, but they kept the spirit of the game at the highest level Thin bats, time and placement meant how you skimmed your boundaries out of the bowler. One can see the pride of representing their own country in the world stage. And players are cricket players, not a running billboard with names of thousands of companies all over their body..
We the viewing public are largely responsible for today’s state of affairs of the game. The moment we turned the sport into entertainment, the leeches that companies are, followed
First time saw this.. gentleman Yashpal Sharma.. he is so brave..liked that single leg six(@17:33) ..In England..Ian Botham's reverse sweep at that time :)... last one is last ball, but not the least.. How cool guy Patil is..smiling , hit 4 never see any tense :) so cool! Thank you for uploading!
SANDIP PATIL made 51 runs of from 32 balls. Extraordinary strike rate for 1983 standards and great even by today standards. But not shown in the video.
Hello! it's 2023 and having just watched it brought back my University memories when we were waiting at Delhi railway station for a Jammu Tawi train that night. The late night commentary on pocket transistor kept us so excited amid the cacophony of the station. Brilliant performances with twists. We were a batch of students from Hyderabad OU enroute to Kashmir and eventually watched the final in Srinagar with a camp fire to boot!! Again, thrillllllssssss😄😄😄We won!
Last ball logic is awesome. All filders on off not to save a single, but so that they can get to the pavillion faster ( it was on off side). Batsmen and Bowlers did not even care to check if the run was scored. They just dashed as fast as they could. The grin on the batsmen's face before the ball was bowled was hilarious to watch.

Balwinder Singh Sandhu was remembered for his dismissal of dangerous Gordon Greenidge in the finals🙂
But again, it was Mohinder Amarnath in the finals..... 👏👏👏👏
Mohinder Amarnath was a product of Nepotism (son of Lala Amarnath), but still Mohinder Amarnath proved it wrong by giving outstanding performances.
Watched this match live ,,,,it was incredible, 1983 WC was like a never ending dream...even most diehard Indian supporter never expected us to win the cup...even today it seems so unreal !!
i also 👀 seen this match on t. v in my childhood days😉 🤗
Players bowling the last ball...run not to field but to save themselves from crowd 🤣🤣🤣
Bowl and run to save ur life
Yes, I too feel that way
Did anyone checked that ball really travelled to boundary line or not? 😂😂
@@PRASADSHKL2007 who cares. Even umpires were running 🤣🤣
@@rudrarishi2523 aw question
I liked the way Willis arranged his field for the last ball. Get halfway to the pavilion chaps. He knew what was coming from the previous ball. "RUN LADS".
Just plain simple cricket which makes it more exciting. Golden days, one doesn't get to experience the crowd running on to the field anymore. Pure Unadulterated excitement and passion.
Underrated team. Selfless, coordination and fearless approach led India to clinch the first ever title under the captaincy of great K. Dev
Indian bowling was Kapil, Sandhu, Madan Lal, Binny, Amarnath, Kirti Azad. It's amazing how much better the quality of Indian bowling is now.
The players were less agile, but they kept the spirit of the game at the highest level
Thin bats, time and placement meant how you skimmed your boundaries out of the bowler.
One can see the pride of representing their own country in the world stage.
And players are cricket players, not a running billboard with names of thousands of companies all over their body..
We the viewing public are largely responsible for today’s state of affairs of the game. The moment we turned the sport into entertainment, the leeches that companies are, followed
back then crickt was really sport... no sledging no abuses.. they only played for the sake of entertainment... pure class
👀 bhai bhai bhai 😂...
Seer phor dete the unn dino ...
That One Short from Sir Yashpal Sharma to Bob Willies...Pure Class... 👌
SANDIP PATIL made 51 runs of from 32 balls. Extraordinary strike rate for 1983 standards and great even by today standards. But not shown in the video.
@BATMAN DESTROYS
I recall , sandeep patil did hit 6 fours in an over to oblige bob willis too
@BATMAN DESTROYS
YES SIR IT WAS THE 1982 TEST MATCH AT MANCHESTER , WHERE OUR OLD LIL SANDEEP PATIL GAVE THAT HOMAGE TO DEAR BOB , AND MADE HIM FAMOUS
Spoken in hindhi
A BATMAN DESTROYS
Syed kirmani excellent good keeping in that tournament
Who can forget YashPaaji's gutsy 61 before being caught at deep third men ...the highest scorer in semis
Yashpal Sharma was a hero , he deserved much appreciation 👏
He is run out
@@vivinjulius4381 but he contributed well to the match
R Binny, Amarnath fabulous bowling!
I never knew about Yashpal Sharma !
Great innings of '83 world cup!
Yashpal Sharma was a very good & attacking middle order batsman and a great fielder too
यशपाल शर्मा was unsung hero of Indian cricket team, his contribution was great to Indian victory 1983 WC as well in Indian cricket.
He was a very good batsman, but failed to maintain his position after wc 83. He should have contued till 90s looking at his class.
Hello! it's 2023 and having just watched it brought back my University memories when we were waiting at Delhi railway station for a Jammu Tawi train that night.
Real hero Sandip Patil who scored 51 runs of 32 balls not out when asking rate was climbing fast.
In 42 overs I still couldn't imagine
S
Sandeep Patil Did it for India
the fact is almost all players played their part in all matches
Even in the final
Very true patil played like t20
😂
Video quality is too good 😍 it's 1983
When ever Srikanth scored 20+ India WON in this WC
Srikanth scored 19 here
Pop
When Sunil gavaskar played India won here
@@pathikritbasu7813 Srikanth scored 30 or 40 + in this final & top scorer...???!!
Great video! Thank you matey...happy to see traditional cricket attire and red ball...of those glory days.
Love for Yashpal Sharma, what a player he was, over all Indian batting dominate
He was real saviour and man of crisis. He played many saving znd winning innings.
They didn’t have to. The ball raced to the boundary and the players raced to the pavilion.
1qp hm TV ip5
Ok
They were in a hurry to safely reach the pavvelion
Matches, fortune is clearly in favor of the Indians, Bob allowed patil to score 50
Days when people n players used to run in the ground at the end same time😂😂
I still have a vivid memory of watching it live on TV......exhilarating feeling. Almost 60% of the shops in market, at Andheri in Mumbai had downed their shutters ro watch this epic match live on TV..😊

+Arty writer My pleasure. Thanks for watching .

Must appreciate the sportsman spirit of England in this game...Bob Willis was a true gentleman who led with example...respect from India...and that umpire with the stump in his hand...hahaha full gangsta.
I love bobb the ville
Beginning of an unique journey of Team India from 1983 to 2024 & will continue ❤❤❤
How many people are watching this video after watching the movie 83?
So many Indian fast bowlers have come and gone. But none are as good as Kapil.
lol zero fast bowlers came, India didn't have fast bowlers then, only medium pace trundlers
Proud and golden moment for India thanks for uploading new video
after so many years, all of us who saw the finals, remember clearly where we were
That last ball field placement and both teams running towards dressing room...🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yashpal sir's match winning 61👍
RIP Sir 🙏😭
Wow how natural the cricket was 😍😍😍😎
1983 word Cup win was greatest achievement in in Indian cricket history. All playars played in difficult condition against stronger teams. Salute to all players from my heart.
I can see the importance of Amarnath and Binny being the instrumental figure in this match.
I watched this Semifinal match world Cup after watching 83 movie each and every part of the match beautifully presented in movie.. Loved itt #83
