I want to take the time to thank you for all your 3-4 videos. I just bough one in good condition. I had a great deal and it's also in a small sailing club so no need to carry it. They will put the mast and trampoline for me in the next few days so I should be sailing soon. By the way I had one 30 YA :-) So it should bring back some good memories.

Awesome to see someone finally posting Prindle info!!! I have been wanting to do this for years. Just took my P-16 out yesterday in lake Erie it off Cleveland. Great sailing here in the summer. Was able to trap out most the day. My jib/forestay setup is quite different from yours. I have the ring and hook system with a zipper on the jib to the forestay. I actually tension my forestay using a barrel tensioner to control rig tension along with the side stays. Also have a jib traveller. For trapping i installed hi-lo trap kit which works great. I can send some pics of you want. I plan on doing some videos also when i get time. Good sailing to you.

Definitely sounds like you have a newer boat! I only know about the newer rigging from what I've read, never put hands on it.

This is the hobie 16 set up with a wire inside the luff that becomes the forestay for tension I like that system better you can control the tightness of the rig from it I actually put a wire inside the luff of my Prindle 16 to imitate the hobie 16

right - the older Prindle jibs were configured the same way as the Hobie 16. This boat is a 1978. I now have a 1979 as well, and it has the zippered jib.

One time I forgot to connect my mast step-hinge while taking the mast down. Luckily my wife had asked a lady that was sitting behind the boat to move as a just in case. It's the only time I've ever forgot to connect it. Once I started to drop the mast the base naturally rose up where it should have been connected and the top came crashing down behind me. If my wife hadn't asked her to move, the mast would have come down right on her head and seriously injured or killed her. Total bonehead move, hopefully others learn from my mistake.

This is a really good thing to be aware of - it's so easy to miss something small like this, which can turn out to be huge and impactful. Thanks for sharing.
