    • @dkortman6496
      @dkortman6496 Год назад +391

      @@chirags7265 expanding on the previous reply, when you brake, your body want to stay in motion like they said. This is because your weight is separate from the car. A body remains in the state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless and until an external force acts on it. Putting Newton's 1st law of motion in simple words, a body will not start moving until and unless an external force acts on it.
      Basically, once you start braking, the car will start to slow down, but your body will want to keep moving at the same speed. Because you’re wearing a harness, your upper body will be held in place, but that force is still pushing your legs forward since they’re not strapped down.
      Since your legs will want to keep moving forward, and the stiffness of the brake is really high, it is much easier to reach a higher brake pressure. Because of the g forces, your legs will weigh much much more, allowing you to overcome the stiffness of the brakes.

    The g-forces the driver is placed under when breaking actually help to apply more pressure than the driver can exert themselves on the brakes. Kinda like a positive feedback between breaking and the added Gs

    IIRC, they have the brakes like that because it’s hard to rest your foot while zipping around a racetrack without slightly riding the brakes which was a problem in older cars.

    If they made the pedal soft then they'd lock them the moment they go into the first braking zone. It's a dual purpose for being so hard to press

    Because they are basically horizontal when they apply the brakes the driver is forced forward multiplying the force on the brake pedal.
    Momentum is a unbelievably strong force

    When braking at 7-8 G your foot(and leg) is also 7-8 times heavier on the pedal so braking will be much easier than standing still.

  • @robertpage2023
    @robertpage2023 Год назад

    As far as "braking" is concerned, your foot is actually pushing on the front axle of the car. That's why you have to put so much force into it.
    Look at the bottom of your shoe when you get out of the car and you'll see the impression of the axle on the sole.
    It's like a Flintstone car.
    There is a button to push that shoots CO2 when your boot sole gets too hot and bursts into flame.

    This is just 1 of many reasons why winning a the WDC is not just because the driver has the quickest/fastest/best car. Sure, it goes some way to helping, but as the tagline goes; “Power is nothing without control.”

    The thing that is not taken into consideration here is that when you actually drive 200 kph+ and hit the brakes, the momentum also helps to put the brake force in the pedals

  • @keorodriguez

    50% breakpressure becomes 100% breakpressure, when 2G comes in action, and so on, thats why its easy to over-break and lock you breaks.
