First saw this game at a friend's house. He smartly had his game audio pumped through his stereo and the asteroid sequence literally filled the room. I bought the game the next day and just about played non-stop through it over a weekend. It wasn't just the great music, it was the sound and mood the game created. I found it easy to imagine the rest of the world the story took place in. The ending stayed with me for a long time. One of my favorite game experiences. Thanks for the memories, LA.

that transition into 03:19 sends chills through me every time.
03:53 - 05:47 dialogue section in the music is otherworldly in sound and feeling of space
at 06:36 the build-up to the tubular bell is very powerful with the feeling of a brilliant majestic kingdom
the choir at the end fills up the expanse of space and time.

Yeah, I agree! The first time I played this game, I thought, "Why is this not a movie?" Having said that, I think Hollywood would fuck up this great idea and it would not meet our expectations. All we can do is appreciate the original for what it was. What it is. So immersive, so original, so deep.

What is gobsmacking about this game is its stratospheric concept. Bearing in mind these are the same dudes that made Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle, this is a game about three people thrown against their will into an old, abandoned world populated by a race of beings who severed their corporeal connection with reality in a misguided attempt to achieve godhood. Beautiful, desolate, immortal. I am privileged to have been alive at the point in history when Cocytus was given to us to explore.

i agree on the soundtrack; considering it is ENTIRELY synthesizer, Michael Land did an AMAZING job with it! I'd love to hear someone like Jeremy Soule or James Horner get ahold of the music and redo it with a live orchestra and choir. Hell, someone could even try their hand at a reboot of the game too! I'd definitely by it!
