i been there that was my favorite lfs when I lived in Tampa Fl where I grew up 30 years i miss it awesome fish store cool to see all the neat little things that come from the live rock thanks for sharing this cool experiment
The invert you thought was an Abalone was actually a Limpet. Still cool though. and the Alien looking one you were pointing at the moves around is a fleshy limpet.
Yeah, that mantis shrimp is an example of why people don't like to use live rock. They are notoriously hard to get out of a tank. They call them thumb splitter shrimp because they can do serious damage to a hand. They eat fish. They tuck into little holes and you can't dig them out. Supposedly they can snap their claws so hard that they can break glass, but I have never actually heard of one destroying an aquarium.
