I been listening to ditta for couple of months, it was the Bach violin partita 3 that fascinates the sht out of me. The same cello with 5 gut string, baroque style with baroque bow it just wonderful.
I have only been playing cello for 5 months and when I hear this I now understand how hard it is to sound this amazing, true mastery of your craft Ditta, absolutely beautiful sound and flawless perfection in how you played these pieces, wonderful!
Ditta giving yet another masterclass on cello piccolo playing, on cello playing itself, on historically accurate interpretation and above all, on musicality, expression, and virtuosity. My favourite cellist of today 🧡 Can't believe I'm watching this 6 months late!!! Please if you haven't yet heard her album 'J.S. Bach: Sonatas and Partitas' (it's on Spotify) where she plays the Violin Partita in E Major and the Flute Partita in A Minor do yourself a favour and put your best headphones on for it.
Thank you for the recommendation. I'm adding Ditta Rohmann to my list of favorite Bach interpreters. After watching this performance, I just needed to listen to listen the rest of the cello suites played by Ditta. I am glad I can.
@dittacello omg it's such an honour to receive your reply!! i'm a cellist too and you're one of my biggest inspirations 🥹 not just for baroque, like your Kodály and Ligeti are between the best renditions ever. thank you so so much for blessing us with your music and pleeeease continue 🙌 would love to see what you're currently working on 🧡
The top that you are wearing looks very good for performing the violincello. Comfortable, with room to move about. Yet not imposing. The instrument is the tool, and you are the star. Molto bene.
The bell bottom pants are the bomb! This video could have been made in the year 1968. Great performance. You've thought of everything. Woodstock. Ben fatto.
Beautiful playing on the instrument intended! We modern cellists always have the difficult choice: play it in D major, as a virtuoso piece, shifting between low and high thumb positions or playing it in G major as violists generally do. Bravo!
Wonderful! A rare example of a historically-oriented performance that is also musicality spell-binding! Why? Because Ditto pays at least as much attention to flow, continuity, and overall shape as she does to "stylistically correct" small-unit phrasing and articulation.
@@dittacelloWhy? You are using a five-string cello piccolo?! It is not a historical accurate interpretation, thumb position wasn’t known at that time and it isn’t really necessary on a five-string-cello for this piece. Furthermore I guess from the sound, that you used thumb position on the bars 21 / 22 of the prelude too and therefore missed the flageolet on the E-string, but the video doesn't show your left-hand fingerings, so I cannot be sure...
Please do try, even if you’re not a musician: balancing the bow differently creates a different kind of sound and articulation which suites my interpretation better
Plug her in , turn the switch on and she plays......However I like her 5 string baroque cello and her sound in spite of the fact she does not use vibrato.
After years of practicing, owning 4 and 5 string cellos I will give up the playing and continue to listen to you ❤
Beautiful! This music follows me for days after listening to it! Love it! Thank you Ditta!

I just listened to her performance of the 3d Partita yesterday. It was absolutely delightful to listen to, and stunning to watch.

Thank you, Ms. Rohmann, very fine performance!! My fingers get tired just watching! Greetings, from Canada.
One can play this music differently, but not better.
Glorious video!
Thank you ❤

@@gatozarin❤❤ too kind! Thank you! Come visit my class in Budapest!
Or Switzerland
En plus, le son de son instrument est magnifique !
Très très bien.
Wonderful. Sounds so much better with 5 strings too.
Sehr schön gespielt!
Fantastic performance! Possibly the finest performance of this I've ever heard.
I am amazed at how the music of J S Bach transcends time.
What a gift! I love her playing - thank you for sharing this video.
Gratulálok!
최고 입니다.. Bella!! Bellissimo!! très bien!!!
Beautiful, played with so much passion. That cello and the sound you bring out is amazing!
Magical playing!

You’re reading my mind!
@dittacello so when will we enjoy it? 😍
In a year I hope!
@dittacello I have the patience to wait for it. I wish you all the best and a lot of success

Sul finale mi sembra che gli ha dato un tono di esecuzione Celtica

Thumb position on a five string cello?
Why not?

No problem with this because you play so impeccably but why do you hold your bow so high up?
in baroque era it was a common practice to hold a bow this far from the frog
Please do try, even if you’re not a musician: balancing the bow differently creates a different kind of sound and articulation which suites my interpretation better
Maybe because of her 5 strings cello...

In my opinion, it's refreshing to hear a performance that is not cluttered up with endless vibrato.
