These particular ones are made from an alloy very similar to the "B8" cymbal alloy and are around 1/8 inch thick. For lower notes you have to go thicker. I also make them in Aluminium, Brass and Steel. Each have their own sound character.
Hi Adolf. In terms of actual harmonics, these rectangular plates only have the funamental and its octave which are specifically tuned. There's also an undertone which is a flat sub-octave and a bunch of inharmonic overtones. The fundamental and octave are enough for your ear to get a pitch perception and the inharmonic overtones give you that bell-like dissonance on top.
+Andrea Dobetti The higher plates here go to a fair volume, the lower ones start to get a little wobbly. For higher volumes you need to go to a thicker, and hence larger plate - like the ones you saw in my other video with the comparison against Aluminium plates. The timbre changes a little. As always, there is a balancing act to be done.
I absolutely love your videos.
Cool! It really sounds like church bells! what is the alloy of the bell plates? how thick are they?

What is the harmonic spectrum of these like?

Congratulations. Very interesting. Bronze is better. And at a higher volume? can I hear the sound of your hand cymbals too? thanks.

How big can you make them, and how much would it cost?

Are the usual plate bells not tuned? How are they different?
relike868p Usually, they are tuned, but not always. Some are indefinite pitch. So I thought I'd make the distinction.
how zize is the small?
Just a little smaller than an 'A4' piece of paper
thanks matt ;)
