  • On Friday April 12, 2024, actor and writer Mark Farrelly will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of raconteur, writer, and actor Quentin Crisp with the 200th performance of the one-man show Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope at Newport’s Riverfront Theatre.
From a conventional upbringing to global notoriety via 'The Naked Civil Servant,' (a title that lent itself to a film starring John Hurt) Quentin Crisp remains one of the most memorable figures of the twentieth century. Openly gay as early as the 1930s (an era when homosexuality was illegal), Quentin courageously endured decades of persecution on London’s streets for refusing to compromise his authenticity. His remarkable life and philosophy continue to inspire many into the 21st century.
