    How can you not love this man? If only because, in every interview, he makes you laugh!

    I am 56 and not being from Great Britain only just found Quentin Crisp, and must say he is the most honest, brave person I’ve seen in a long time. Around here we have a saying it’s “real recognize real” style drips from his fingertips,ask,am I a fan? You bet!

      I've been a fan for decades and I'm not from Great Britain, either. I think his whole message was pretty universal: Be exactly who you are, no matter what!

    Such a great interview. Thank you for making this available. Quentin Crisp was amazing. It's crazy that such reasoned arguments might be seen as militant.

      I think anything that threatens the status quo is considered militant whether it's based in reason or not.

    Quentin was very perceptive about human nature..But he was also shaped by his experiences. He mocked romantic love because he Never had it. He often represented himself as Poor But he was worth a few million when he died. Lastly, he was mocked & abused in society But he admitted he was "addicted" to being outrageously flamboyant and enjoyed the consequential daily ATTENTION. He was a unique character and a very amusing one at that.

    QC was also a very fine writer. He writes the way he speaks. His pacing is like meditation.

    On being asked about the layers of dust and dirt in his apartment:
    _'Unkind friends say that I have the dust sent in from Fortnum & Masons, but that's not true, I merely don't clean the place. and I have a message of hope to offer to the housewives of England, It's this: Don't lose your nerve, because after the first 4 years the dirt won't get any worse. I haven't cleaned this place since I came here and that's nearly 30 long dark years ago. And as you see, it merely doesn't look clean, that's all'_
    - One of the many brilliant quotes by Quentin

    "Once the public gets bored of homosexuality then freedom will be here" - well, no, Mr Crisp, the past decades have shown that it just doesn't work like that. The public won't be allowed to be bored, on the contrary, there'll be more and more homosexuality everywhere, not less. And, at the same time, less and less freedom, not more.

    • @brad1368
      @brad1368 Год назад +1

      I think many people just aren't bored yet. There has been a great deal of progress made, depending, of course, on your definition of progress and freedom.
