You're telling me. Been listening to prog metal since 2005 when my friend who started playing guitar burned me a CD of numerous power/prog bands. Just found this band 2 years ago, saw them live last spring. Incredible live performance, entering my top 3 ever (and I've seen all the major players in prog).

Oh man, you're in for a treat friend. All of their albums have their own unique flavor and the band is always growing toward something. Plus I'm a straigt-up fanboy for Einar, he's such a vulnerable singer, it makes singing along feel extremely intimate and personal. Which isn't to say I don't love the backdrop and journey the band weaves together!

    Piercing, piercing eyes.
    Scars you're counting.
Counting, counting profound places you don't want to be.
Climbing a mountain, crossing a sea.
    Behind, the struggle has ended.
    damaged mind, already descended.
    Behind, struggle has ended,
acting out, striving to make me secure.
The gutter, parts us from the rain.
    Up on the hill,
    tough and alone.
    perfectly feeling, his desolate throne.
    Behind, the struggle has ended.
    damaged mind, already descended.
    Behind, struggle has ended,
damaged mind, acting out, securing me ________ betrayal.

powergamer6 I suppose it gets interesting considering they fall under this supposed "metal" name. Just imagine what a die hard Slayer-only fan would say about the artsy vocals, the strange chord progressions, tiny amounts of distortion, and the lack of a solo/breakdown/whatever you want to call it.
      No hate against Slayer though.

Baard Kolstad is Brian Blade level. Neither of them ever fake anything, heart and soul in every hit, sound-conscious tight-pocketed band uniters both. It's so inspiring, as is Leprous' music overall. Gets you going every time. And they are still young, god knows what's still to be expected from them.

Diego Sheish Rewind is one of the stronger on the album, amongst many weaker songs. I'm a Bilateral guy, these new offerings aren't doing much for me. I do love The Price though.

    • @AlexLococo
      @AlexLococo 9 лет назад +3

Alex Kulp I accept your opinion, but I disagree. Sort of. I insist that the album is beautiful all the way through, including Rewind, so we can both agree on that.

I dunno, dude, the live version of And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope has some pretty well placed synchronized headbanging. Or maybe it was Of Petrichor Weaves Black Noise...
      I don't remember, it's been a minute.

that percussive synth-roll theme in the verse is a great touch. intertextually speaking, it ties this tune to Forced Entry, which is practically one of the best Leprous-songs ever written.

    saw this band yesterday
    along with TesseracT
    and the mightily talented
    Devin Townsend at Bristol
    on 12thMarch2017
Very impressed by the quality of sound by all three bands.
Devin delivered an excellent set, a brilliantly enjoyable evening
    ;~)
... saw Devin 24 years ago sing for Steve Vai's band ...
    .... twice

    POSTSCRIPT 12months later....
    .... really got into Leprous!

    Piercing, piercing his eyes
    Scars you can't see
    Cutting, cutting profound
Places you don't want to be
    Climbing a mountain
    Crossing a sea
    Behind
    The struggle has ended
    Damaged mind
    Already descended
    Behind
    The struggle has ended
    Damaged mind
    Acting out
    Striving to make me secure
The gutter parts us from the rain
Up on the hill, tough and alone
    Perfectly filling his desolate throne
    Behind
    The struggle has ended
    Damaged mind
    Already descended
    Behind
    The struggle has ended
    Damaged mind
    Already descended
    Behind
    The struggle has ended
    Damaged mind
    Acting out
    Securing me
    Friendly betrayal
    Somber delight
    Treating his tumor
    Without a fight
