10 fastest Festival of Speed qualifying runs 2024
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 июл 2024
- All the talking is over. Just the Timed Shootout remains for those cars going head-to-head at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. Qualifying today was dominated by one vehicle: Ford's amazing Supervan 4.2. But behind Romain Dumas, the competition was fierce. Subarus led the way, with ex-F1 driver Scott Speed hurling the new Subaru Project Midnight up the Hill into second. Travis Pastrana's Huckster is not far behind. Old school brute force remains in play though, with an F5000 car right in the mix.
Here are the top 10 fastest qualifiers ahead of the 2024 Goodwood Timed Shootout.

Who is going to win?
Me
McMurtry Speirling PURE won it already.
I want Jake Hill and Ric wood to win with the Calsonic R32. just need to find a few seconds!
The fact a WRX can keep up with a 2000HP EV is insane
I think more super cars should enter. Straight line speed and top speed is fine but track times are more telling of all around performance.
That 31-year-old Nissan GTR is ALWAYS a top 10 car! Such a beast.
Yes, no aero and 1 sec slower than a Ferrari 296 Challenge with lots of aero, kudos to that GTR!!
I can see heaps of aero.
Literally a beast, as it has 1000 hp
Just imagine how it was in its hay day 🤯🤯
I think it was #1 few yrs back
“I could do that time in a van” Sabine Schmitz 2004
@@L.F.P well said
Sabine would have been faster. RIP
she could...yep...but with a diesel engine.....
That Calsonic Skyline has become a true icon of motorsport.
@@trob1173 always was
Winning every race of its debut season will do that to a race car 😅
And to think the gibson and winfield ones raced here in Australia are faster then it shows you how quick the platform was
@@Lucason2772While the Gibson R32 comfortably makes more than the original Calsonic GTR.
This is a Calsonic GTR Replica made by Ric Wood Motorsports, it's pushing 1000ps on 2bar of boost which is a touch higher than The Gibson Motorsport which pushes 650-750hp wheel in race/qualifying trim (30 years ago)
@@tnle3171 yes the engineering was dare i say f1 level for its time
I love how committed Subaru and Vermont SportsCar are to building cool cars. Never disappoint.
@@patmcassey6465 Subaru have had their ups and downs over the past 10 years, but I couldn't agree more this is definitely a step in the right direction for subaru
@@patmcassey6465 Subaru is committed to building cool *race* cars. Cars that the general public have no hope but buying.
Be nice if they didn't blow up Everytime you touch the gas
@@Konformation07 you can technically buy official works race cars once they're decommissioned. Unless they're a very iconic car, usually buying a race car will be much cheaper in the used market than buying a used road car of the same model. But of course, you can't legally use the car on the road unless you do a major conversion work, but probably will still be cheaper than buying the road car version anyway. One example that comes to mind: check the prices of used Renault Clio V6's vs Renault Clio V6 Cup Cars.
@@PlatinumNathThis is true in a lot of cases, but we’re talking subaru here, they made one of these things, maybe two as a backup, it’s not like it’s a customer racing program. And the only production/ road going version is barely more expensive than an economy car, not really the same as cross shopping a road going 911 gt3 with a cup car of the same generation.
considering that subaru has an internal combustion engine and is many times less powerful, it is still admirable how little difference they had against each other.😮
It also weighs just under 900kg less
The problem is indeed, the ford ev....it's literal crap.
We are 5 years after the vw id.r and it's exemplary results , beating records by a substantial margin
Is like they are intentionally regressing ev tech, because they are shooting themselves in the legs by proving the EV tech is far superior.
The reason why VW stopped after the initial run, when their crporate ferengi realized the implications.
In 2024, the times should've been several seconds faster as there should've been sufficient r&d to develop even better tech.
But in their greed, they want to kill the EV just like they did 30 years ago.
@@Evo009 gotta consider that the subaru is basically half the weight of the supervan at the minimum lmao
Couldn't agree more 👏
And it can probably still act as a normalish car. You can't really call the Ford a van anymore 😂
PLEASE take that Project Midnight Subaru to a World Time Attack event, that thing is a BEAST
The Calsonic GTR still fighting to this day
Strictly speaking it's an exact replica built by Ric Wood, not the actual JTCC car.
@@SmallBlogV8 exact replica huh
@@SmallBlogV8 its still incredibly badass
It’s also 1100bhp
@@augustortiz LONG LIVE GODZILLA 🐲
Huckster looks like it's literally giving the finger with the active aero, what a machine
laughed out loud how bonkers quick that was despite all the drifting.
It's pretty crazy that the r32 put down the same time as an F1 car
and people somehow still say the R34 is better
@@JJJackson777Fr, I prefer the R32 and R33 GTR LM. Anyone else reading this, fight me.
@@JJJackson777 lol
@@joshuaquinones9760 The Nismo 400r is also a beautiful machine
Take into consideration that the F1 car is 20 years older than it.
Highlights for me were the Huckster Wagon (just because it's so ridiculous, kitschy and retro-futuristic), that BEAUTIFUL beast of a GTR, the Subaru Project Midnight which I'll have to read up on because that was super impressive, and of course that absurd Ford Supervan setting the pace for everyone else!
7:04 when it's almost midnight and you order same day delivery
LMAO
TRUE
The top 10 cars could all do a sub 50 tomorrow. That’s crazy
if its not raining yeah
That Subaru is a spaceship!!
That subaru wrx and wagon 👏 ❤
I haven't ever been to Goodwood. I'd love to attend next year. Enjoy it tomorrow!
@@thatcarladmatt did you already bought the ticket? If not it's already sold out.
That GTR is absolutely gorgeous, love the stance and obvious power in that thing
The crazy part is that the McMurtry Fan car beat this by 5 seconds last year. Crazy.
Loving that 30 year old Nissan GTR
The 296 is so beautiful!
It's that blend of pretty and aggressive/functional.
I love how from 10-2 they were all legendary race cars and specially tuned track cars and number one was just "what if we put a shedload of horsepower into a van"
And the Ford lightning ev 1,500hp race truck he just won pikes peak with this year is even quicker than that supervan! 👍🏻😎
It might be quick but that electric van sounds like a demented drill going along.
It's not going to get many fans thats for sure.
Sounds cooler than any of the other cars tbh
It sounds very cool what u on
that thing sounds like a fighter jet
Says some one who doessnt know what fight jet sounds like
that gurney eagle is just unbelievable
One of the best sounding V8's I've ever heard and I love that shade of blue it's painted it.
@@JigglyBlubber classical American analog race car
Man I just love that Huckster. That is mental visually and performance wise !
Jake Hill is a serious driver… the way he puts that Skyline to its limits is nothing short of a spectacle.
The minimal commentary is blissful
Its mental that the old skyline and Subaru wagon can hang with these monsters. As far as I know both were ordinary road cars, the skyline is a replica and subaru is just crazy altogether.
group a r32 is pure jdm classic
R32’s legacy still lives on!
that A110 is insane
That Subaru Project Midnight looks absolutely awesome!! I want one!
Gotta love Subaru for being in the top 10 so far!
Also, Scott Speed equaled Petter Solberg's best run on the hill
Awesome. Thanks for sharing this.
How did we not get a full run of that gurney eagle
The commentary is full of spoilers when it's not played in chronological order 😂
Love those F5000 the fat back tires are so tuff

That subaru 👍🏻
I'm confused how the Nissan GTR is only 1 second slower than that F1 car. Mental.
I’m pretty sure every car that went up in this video had less than 675 horsepower except the supervan that has the equivalent of 2000 horsepower. And it was 9 hundredth’s faster than a suped up Subaru.
@@patrickwhite4449 Dude, that Subaru has certainly more than 675 horses
@@tobi90 🤣😂
The Van probably weighs the same as 3 x Subarus. Wait until batteries double the density again.
@@tobi90 the specs on the Subaru are 670 bhp
Horsepower isn't everything, plenty of racecars have less horsepower than their road car counterparts yet they're faster around racetracks and hillclimbs
Thoroughly enjoyed 10th to 2nd. Then fell asleep as the ev junk came on. That gt3 cup run was incredible
The EV junk smoked everything bro.
Literally, pikes peak, time attack, open wheel all got nailed by a battery powered van.
The future is bright, my mate. Embrace it.
@TJ8716-wk2sy just not interested my man it's still heavy boring junk to me. No sound = no experience, there's no soul to any of it. Give me a na v10 with half the power all day long. Batteries aren't the future either terrible for the environment
@@MrLeeson660 I prefer combustion engine anyday but like i dont understand why EVs have become the gingers of Cars for no reason. And just like combustion engine EVs are going to improve eventually so that Battery aren't the future statement is just non sense because i pretty sure someone said the same for the first automotives
Forget all the modern stuff, to my mind, Michael Lyons in the fifty year-old 1974 Eagle-Chevrolet 73A F5000 is easily the most exciting car/driver combination in the top ten on the hill at Goodwood ❤💯
Subaru project Midnight is the beast
The huckster's aero made me snort my coffee.
The super van is crazy. Wonder how fast EVs are going to get in the future when they're already leaving gas cars in the dust after a couple years of development
I much as I prefer gas cars I just hope the future of EVs bring out car lots people will actually like
travis is an amazing driver
Now I want to see the Mustang GTD do this course.
Subaru GL Wagon 🥺 What a car! I love old cars that original looks bleak and boring, but with some adjustments, not even many, becomes absolute beauties!
mcmurty is in what category?
it's own.
That Super Van is like the head of the Shinkansen without towing anything in the back 😂
and about as exciting.....
@@stratman9449pretty exciting seeing it crush all these bespoke race cars
@@Tommmmmmmmmmmm but, that is also a bespoke racecar...
Super Van!!!!!!
Calsonic GTR is such an awesome car 👌🏽🔥🔥
Just shows how progress has gone. A 5 door subaru saloon faster than a f1 car. Problem with super van is it now needs an 8 hour charge to get back down the hill 😂
That gurney eagle was moving boy!
wow that formula 5000 sounded incredible
Just some info bars away from one of our Videos 😏
Who was driving the Puma WRC ?
oh my dat guerney-eagle f5000!
wheres the mcmurtry??
I think anybody can go faster than Romain Dümas if the top time is just 45 seconds. No disrespect for the 2 time winner of the Goodwood FOS
This thing definitely has more to give.
One day they have to let a current WEC hyper car or a modern f1 car have a run. Even if its behind closed doors just to see how fast it can be done
The current wec hyper cars are slower than previous years
Didnt they already have wec cars from the previous generation which had been the quickest generation?
That supervan whoah.
I know the McMurthy wasn't part of the shootout competition, but what is its official time score this year?
You know Dumas and the team are out there having a bit of a giggle.💥
The BMW from GeorgPlasa do the run in 46.3 sec with only 550Hp.. Thats destroy the half run in this video
Kudos to Jake Hill's R32, despite not being the actual Calsonic one, it still faithfully setting it up into an actual Group A touring car from its 1,260kg racing weight, regardless of having an engine output of 1,000hp as opposed to 550-700hp on the actual one.
Felt like the Porsche should be DQ for too many grassy moments
What 😮 a Van..
The calsonic is a classic
I love how the captions read as [Music] on every roaring engine sounds 💯🎶
The track needs a vacuum and clean, put the actual fastest car on.
Where is the Evija X? :3
Got stuffed into the barriers, or maybe that was last year 🤔
crashed on the start straight on its first run
Crashed the second it got off the line 😢
Oh, really? I heard it did a sub 10 time :3
The speed and size of the electric Ford Supervan, if that goes off I think it'll go over the hay bales and into the crowd and then it's the end of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
its not an airshow mate!
Can you imagine the weight of it too? The electric vans all seem to be over 2.5 tonnes. That is a lot of energy if travelling at 80 MPH. As you say, if that left the track, the consequences could be very serious. FOS is the only place I know where you can get close to the action. I really do not want anything to spoil that.
Travis is a mad man he will always be top 5, give the guy a grocery kart he’ll send it.
Godzilla opening the video, thats all i needed to see.... the rest is all fluff. I love that car!!!
That Ford WRC sounds insane off throttle
0:29 - The Calsonic Skyline. Every GT2 player knows this car.
Gee, that's some going. Nice.
The Eagle Formula 5000 is a 50 year old car. 🏁
would love for the Bolide to win.
It was not fair because of rain !!
Cracks me up everytime people don't think evs are the future.
are they...?? wow......how boring....
@@78matt yep pillaging finite resources to make short lifespan batteries are defo the way to go 🫢
@@stratman9449 just hope it get better because the supervan did show something promising, considering it performance
What about the Mcmurtry? It is pretty fast.
People really doubted that vb wrx really goes to show how far Subaru has come !
They made the ultimate VB and paired it with legendary EJ engine, perfect match and doing great here! Convincing new VB with oldschool EJ, it's great! That EJ20 built by Vermont Sportscar gave pause to the doubters.
Anyone has a picture of a sign the put at The Turn?
(should say something like "No donuts")
Nice of them to invite Super GT to drive the Subaru
If only subaru could use what they learned from Project Midnight and bring back the WRX STI…
They did the opposite, Subaru and Vermont Sportscar put all their years of knowledge and racing with old EJ engine and built a great EJ20 to put in to this VB race car, worked out great.
Bespoke or “FOS Spec” cars like the subaru and the van should be prohibited. The hillclimb is more fun as a historic motoring showcase.
Tell em 199
Can anyone explain what’s different from the 992 gt3 cup to the 992 lmgt3? The lmgt3s are so quiet, is that one of the regs to be quieter?
@@SmakerJAK Well the Cup car is for the Porsche Supercup / regional series so less aero and no ABS compared to the GT3. The GT3 also has a bit more power.
why can't modern F1 cars do this?
Deemed too dangerous on account of the necessary tyre prep being impossible.
After seeing the top comments i wanted to type this 😌
"Its pretty crazy how a van beat all of those supercars" 🔥
5:00 🤩🤩🤩
RAPTOR!!!!
el vehículo Ford que hizo 49.8 pararon el tiempo antes de llegar a la meta
Why was there so many less cars this year…
Probably because many teams are busy. WEC is in Interlagos, IMSA in Canada, plenty of junior formulas going on so many drivers / teams simply don't have time to do Goodwood this year.
R32 Godzilla Fighting
I knew the Van was super fast, it is one of favs in games
always jarring how the F1 cars are never truly gunned to go for a record.
