  • The iconic R32's of the New York City Subway are finally being retired after serving New York City for 58 years on both the IND/BMT lines. Three farewell trips were made on the D line between 2nd Avenue - Lower East Side and Harlem - 145th Street prior to the final run along the Q line between Brighton Beach and 96th Street-2nd Avenue making express stops. The R32's first debuted in 1964 on the Q line, so I thought this was a very fitting sendoff. What caught my attention was the old signage and the blue doors on the northernmost pair 3360-3361 and the Wabco AA-2 horn mounted on the southernmost pair 3894-3895, usually heard on the NJT Arrow III's and the PATH Trains.
Captured from Sheepshead Bay, Neck Road and Brighton Beach on the BMT Brighton Line, 57th Street-7th Avenue on the BMT Broadway, 72nd Street and 86th Street on the Second Avenue Subway.
    Enjoy!

Nice coverage of the R32's farewell, I really dig the original blue livery and the banner the MTA applied to the set; it's a fitting send off for the sets.
