- A total of 15 Amtrak AEM-7's were brought out of storage from the Bear, DE Maintenance Facility to be moved to Quonset Point in North Kingstown, RI for further storage. Although, rumors suggest that they may be used by Keolis for MBTA's electrification project that was just recently approved, but nothing is 100% for sure. I happened to chase this train from when it was first pulled out of the shops in Delaware to New York Penn Station on different segments of the run.
- Bear, DE to Wilmington Shops
- Wilmington to Hudson Yard in Harrison, NJ
- Hudson Yard to New Haven
- New Haven to Quonset Point in Rhode Island
Due to restrictions on Metro-North of having only 12 locomotives for a single consist, the engines were split from the original 15 into half. The first eight went the night before the remaining seven went.

Goodbye old toasters you will be missed :(
Great video it so sad the old locomotives
Great video and chase CSXTrainBoy815 totally awesome.
Nice video. Vert neat at 1:32. Also, do you know what the sign on the rear AEM-7 says during that moment?
Cool video
The AEM-7s were also used on many of the NJ Transit lines including the Morristown (Midtown Direct), Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Gladstone Branch.
Those were the ALP-44 units, not AEM-7s. They look similar, but not exactly the same.
Anyone know what horn 723 has? It's peculiar for Amtrak.
Are they being scrapped or recommitioned
Who knows. If the Kelios rumor is real, they will live again.
hopefully recommissioned supposedly MBTA will be using them, from what I was told.
WARNING!
ONLY AEM-7 LOCOS ALLOWED TO OPERATE AT THIS AREA
