  • Nike has dominated the shoe game since the 1980s, with their products found in almost every home. Today Nike represents 38% of the total shoe market, making it by far the most popular brand. However, recent data shows a concerning trend: Nike's sales are plummeting and their stock price has fallen by about 60% from its peak. Meanwhile, newer brands like Hoka and On Running are gaining popularity.
    This raises some important questions: Is Nike losing its position as the most popular brand? And why are their sales dropping?
    In this video, I'm going through the data to explain exactly what's happening and how things have gotten so messy and I'm going to do this in a quick and concise manner.

    Resellers destroyed the entire sneaker enthusiast’s experience. Unable to obtain a pair of sneakers and then having to pay double or triple the original retail price ruined the experience.

      They ruined the overall user experience. Resellers with the backdoor deals and bots definitely made it hard. But the video does raise some points. Nike is struggling because they lost focus and ignored their core customer which were people buying good running/walking shoes. Never mind the UAs and fakes that are produced in the same country their authentic sneakers are made in and imported all around the world and more people accept buying and wearing fakes as well for a fraction of the price or triple A fakes for a fraction of the resale price.

    I will always prefer buying shoes in-store rather than online.

      same, but im forced to buy online nowadays because no matter what retail store I walk into looking for Nikes, all of their options are terrible. I'd rather spend a few minutes on sites like Stockx and goat getting something that actually grabs my attention and would go good with my outfits. Everything Nike is releasing nowadays looks disgusting

    Nike lost focus of their core customer. They spent too much time catering to sneakerheads and resellers with Tinker designed hype sneakers and classics from over 30 years ago that they lost sight of their core customer and what made the company what it is today. Runners and their average customer who works out. That allowed Hoka and On to eat up some of Nike's market share. But their market share is big enough, and they're dominate enough as a company to where they can turn it around easily. But that also doesn't take into account of sneakers becoming too expensive for cheaper quality sneakers for the average consumer and sneaker head and saturating the market with hype sneakers that are too pricey. They saturated the market with dunks and Jordan 1's of different colorways but not the colorways that mattered like the Breds, black toes, and Chicago. The lack of innovation comes from Nike's overall loss of focus. But because of these high prices, UAs aka counterfeit aka fakes have flooded the worldwide market. They're produced in their own factory's backyard shipped out to countries all around the world. So Nike has many problems they need to address.

    Nike makes fashion shoes. Sports poser fashion. For example, ACG which is their outdoor like hiking brand makes absolutely useless hiking shoes. They look cool but i would never rely on them for a grade 5 scramble up some wet rock or canyoneering. I have serious sport shoes for that. Nike makes fashion, that is all. Fashion comes and goes, but good gear is timeless. Nike does not make gear...

      huh? they make good basketball shoes, football and running too?

    • @TheJoe89jan

      Nike ACG, Nike Sports Ware, and Nike SB make top-quality clothes. Every other Nike product line, e.g. (Nike running, baseball, soccer, Jordan, etc.) is trash.

      I disagree. They make some good quality basketball, running, and football shoes. Reason why Nike is struggling is because they lost focus of their core customer which is running shoes. That's how they gotten big in the first place before Jordan and the rise of their basketball and football divisions. You must be talking about the hype sneakers. Which are for the most part basketball sneakers.

    At least now stuff like jordans are pretty affordable unlike a year ago when everything was sold by resellers for crazy prices

    Sneakerheads grew old. Younger generation don't have money. Nike did not innovate and still believed in “Air”. Nike focused more on advertising and politics rather than improving their shoes. Overpriced and underperforming. Just a few reasons…

    Nike stopped making good shoes and just released endless colourways of the same shoes 😴😴😴😴

    Never heard of Hoka and the other one. Also not from the US so purchasing online is the best option for me

      THey're the New Kids on the Block. They focus more so on running sneakers which is Nike's core demo. Sneakers are pretty comfortable I may add as well. THey're innovative unlike Nike who's been relying on selling hype sneakers aka Jordans instead of creating something new, also people are waiting for Caitlin Clark's signature shoe. People weren't that impressed with the Book 1's. Sabrina's shoe looks alright.

    No discount or incentive points system offered to members.
    To avail for free shipping here in Oz, you got to have on your cart at least US$180 which is way too high.. other retail outlets have free shipping straight off.
    Nike being swamped by other brands when it comes to super-foam technology and construction in running (which is how they began and a big staple besides basketball, tennis, golf etc.)

      Facts, lost sight of their core customer in people just wanting running shoes. Catered to Resellers and hype sneakers for the past 4 years which allowed them to lose some of their core marketshare to Hoka and others.

    Some Nike shoe will break after 2 months this why I don't but them anymore, Adidas, Puma and Brooks simply do not. And their shoes are to narrow. Nike are cooler looking but as I get older I really do not care about that.

    • @jaycool9480
      @jaycool9480 2 месяца назад

      The younger generation doesn't really care about Nike sneakers, and they're the demo who likes to try different brands and also to spend less on sneakers as well cuz lets be honest, sneakers have gotten way too expensive for lower quality sneakers and have become somewhat of a luxury expense for the average person. This partially led to The rise of UAs and triple A reps are also becoming more accepted because of the cheaper cost.

    • @jaycool9480
      @jaycool9480 2 месяца назад

      Nah, they lost sight of their core customer instead of catering to hardcore sneakerheads and resellers. They should've focused more on producing new and innovative running shoes instead of relying on producing classics from their golden era of sneakers from 85 to about the 98. That's how Nike became Nike. They built their brand off of running shoes, runners and average people who just want a good pair of sneakers to wear.
