I found out about the loop tie hack instead of traditional ribbons and have been sewing my Russian Pointe Rubins like that with stretch elastic ribbon for the past year or so now. I love it! I would recommend cutting your stretch ribbons about in half from what you showed in this video, it just makes it that much faster and prettier. I find that you only have to loop it around your shoe twice with the shorter length, which is functional and supportive while being super low maintenance and you can literally put your shoes on in ten seconds. We used to have to be able to start barefoot and get both shoes on, padding and all within one minute (in preparation for costume changes as I studied in multiple forms) …30 seconds was better though, and that was with traditional ribbon. I’ve been en pointe for about a decade now and I find that I have eliminated the problems with tying the ribbons too tight or having them come loose, which is excellent. Most mainstream brands make stretch/elastic ribbon in the same shade as their shoes now so it’s even easier to coordinate! Love your videos and tips, by the way! With love from California💙🌻
Just went on pointe beginning this year and they put me in gaynor mindens supple shank. I love your videos, much love ❤️
I would never recommend gaynor minded as a first pair as you can build strength in them
It might be a lot easier to sew one side of elastic ribbon on, then wind it as normal and have someone pin it in place the other side, then trim it and sew it. For a completely smooth look there must be a twist in the elastic ribbon loop. I actually need non stretch ribbons on my pointe shoes, but have loop elastic ribbons on my demipointe shoes. It also takes a bit of practice to get them on quickly and smoothly.

Do you have any tips for a second pointe shoe fitting? I’m getting new shoes soon and I don’t know what to look for since my other ones didn’t work well for my feet. (And they are pretty much dead)❤️💕
What I did is I went somewhere else until I found someone who was educated enough to know what shoes would last and had a bigger range of brands to try. And also bring your old shoes so they can see where they died and wore the most. And remember what you didn't like and remember to tell them.

I only use the loop when doing my ribbons and only use dental floss because it holds up longer and it's stronger than thread.
I've done this with the elastics - but it's easiler if you don't loop it over your foot. Just slip out of it, keep it organized, and you can slip right back in again.
The stretchy ribbon only needs to wrap around twice so make sure you measure it before sewing 😅
New ribbon style and twisting style is so different than the traditional ones that hat I am used too. ❤️ 🎶 I just realize it’s not traditional 🩰 🎶 😊
