  • Review of Rohrer & Klingner SketchINK Frieda fountain pen ink using a Pilot Penmanship EF nib.
NOTE: This ink was a bit difficult to clean from the pen. It required some soaking and time in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Great review! I am so happy that you don't do this useless swatches. Rohrer and Klingner is a very good company, btw it's still a general store in Germany, producing cheap and high quality ink, but also serve the needs of the local community.

:) Thanks, Hans! Yeah, swatches are good for quickly selecting a color family, but not for telling you how the ink will appear in your pen. I had no idea R&K was also a general store. That's fabulous. They make great inks and at a great price. Thanks for letting us know more!

Another interesting review - I really like the color and the shading, not to mention the waterproofness. I might try a sample! But only for my easy to clean pens. :)

Thanks for your comment! Yes, I recommend at least starting with an easy-to-clean pen until you see how it responds to your usual cleaning routine. I'm being a bit obsessive for these reviews, and my pen is entirely clear, so it's easy to see every little "ink ring".

This matches my experience with another ink from the sketchINK lineup. Love it because dries fast and doesn't budge, but it's a nightmare to clean from a clear pen. Thea, the one I use, even stains. Nothing that doesn't go away with diluted ammonia and some scrubbing, but definitely a bother. That's why I try to avoid inking a clear pen with it anymore. But I don't dismiss getting a bottle of Frieda, it looks like a nice colour and just the kind of waterproofness I need. Also love the shading!
