- In this video you can learn how to make a roti making machine easily at home. This homemade roti / chapati maker is made out of wood which provide good pressing power and make round chapati.

I just have a few tips for you.
You need to set the thickness of your tortilla before installing the hinges. That is, you need to put some thin carton or something inside the press to have the final thickness and only then you can screw the hinges in place.
Another tip is, make sure your faces are flat. To achieve this you need to plane them either by hand or with a planer. But in any good project, you need to make sure your faces are as flat as possible if not perfect.
When sanding, follow the grain to avoid scratching your wood and giving it a much better finishing. You can start with a 40 and then work your way to 220, this is a nice final sanding.
And finally, you can apply boiled linseed oil or tung oil to finish and protect all your work.
Oh yeah and instead of using flour to press the tortillas, use some plastic on both surfaces to avoid the dough sticking to the press.
Good effort man. I just finished mine today and it looks really cool. People are even asking me to fabricate one for them. Hehe.

Softwoods like pine are not a good choice, as they are too soft and porous (food can get stuck, likewise, water will lead to mold when cleaning it). I also question what type of glue you used? You want to ensure it's food grade safe. I would also have performed two additional steps: plane the two primary surfaces flat, as the sanding left lots of unevenness on the surfaces. I would also have coated the finished product in mineral oil.
Para hacer las torillas se pone un plástico para que no se pegue a la madera y no se pone harina, se agarra una bolsa de plástico se corta cuadros medianos, se pone un plástico primero luego la masa y luego otro plástico y se aplasta
Cada uno con su método... si son de trigo no hace falta el plástico.
