“Linkin Park's decision to choose Emily Armstrong as their new co-vocalist has sparked both excitement and controversy among fans. The band's announcement of their upcoming album "From Zero" and world tour marks their return to the music scene after a seven-year hiatus following Chester Bennington's tragic passing. While Armstrong's powerful vocals have been praised, her alleged connections to the Church of Scientology have raised concerns within the Linkin Park community. Some fans have expressed unease over Armstrong's reported attendance at a Scientology event in 2013 and her alleged support for convicted felon Danny Masterson, a prominent Scientologist. This controversy has overshadowed the band's comeback for some, creating a complex situation where fans are torn between anticipation for new music and apprehension about the new singer's background.” (Perplexity)

I Don't Care about her past and her religion cause that's personal especially her beliefs in life and your opinion I don't care about it too cause for some reason I don't know you and you don't know me either
I'm a Christian and I respect other religion so I don't hold my opinion on their Beliefs cause it's theirs
For me This is a celebration of Linkin Park's return to the music industry.
And look this is Hollywood. If these is a Bad Publicity for the band image it's not cause there is a motto in Hollywood there is no such thing of a Bad Publicity cause a Bad Publicity is a Good Publicity.
As for Ms. Armstrong that's her life and she earn it for herself.

Emily is nothing but a dirty cult of Scientology member. They physically s-xually, emotionally and mentally abuse not only adults in their cult but also kids and I mean children and young teens. Plus she chose to support a convicted r-pist of several women Danny Masterson another Scientologist. She issued some kind of sorry statement that did not have his name in it nor no apology to the Jane Doe’s he r-ped. Her parents are also in the cult and work in the office of special affairs who harass and try to destroy the life of ex Scientologists who have escaped and speak out about this cult. Several lawsuits are now pending in court against this cult. RUclips has at least 100 or more channels that speak about the abuses of this cult called SPTV. WORSE things to people absolutely muddies things. And this is all a massive shame because I think Emily is a PERFECT fit for Linkin Park.

Performance wise I think Emily Armstrong makes for a good choice in carrying Linkin Park to a new era but her connections to Scientology is not to be taken lightly. If Emily is still a scientologist, that makes her inclusion a spit in the face to not only every fan who has suffered abuse in their lives but especially to Chester himself, and everyone still in Linkin Park would be a knowing enabler.
The alternative is also messy; if she's an ex-scientologist then she'd be in very credible danger since Scientologists are well known for targeting former members, especially public-facing ones. It wouldn't surprise me if she and the band want to remain silent to protect her, but this is not an issue that should be ignored.
As much as I'd love for a new Linkin Park era, I'm not comfortable supporting them until we get more details.

@@rutgerhauser2377 my concern isn't just about her associations but about her actions. It’s one thing to be born into Scientology and privately struggle with it, but it's another to actively show up in support of someone convicted of such serious crimes and participate in intimidating the victims. Her non-apology, with its ambiguous phrasing, suggests a lack of accountability, which is especially troubling given the context of her role in a band that has stood for openness about trauma and mental health.

    • @nightknght
      @nightknght 5 дней назад

@@jamie5mauser Scientology is an esoteric religion, meaning it holds many of its core beliefs in secrecy. The justification for Scientology’s secrecy is that only the truly committed are prepared to understand the "truth." However, from a more critical perspective, this secretive approach ensures that only those deeply entrenched in the system, often financially and psychologically, will accept its teachings without question.
This culture of secrecy and intimidation shields high-ranking individuals from accountability, causing further harm.
Additionally, Scientology's opposition to mental health care and its practice of disconnection-forcing members to cut ties with friends and family who don’t conform-results in profound psychological damage. Unlike mainstream religions that often support mental health treatment and community-building, Scientology isolates members, driving them deeper into the cult. The resulting emotional trauma, coupled with the financial exploitation, ensures that followers remain dependent on the organization.
While Scientology uses Christian imagery, like the cross, it is not a branch of Christianity in any meaningful way. Its teachings, structure, and actions-especially in terms of secrecy, financial exploitation, and control-are far removed from Christian doctrine. Scientology’s rigid, manipulative control over members, especially those at higher levels, more closely resembles a cult than any branch of Christianity.
The cumulative effect of these practices-abuse, financial manipulation, isolation from family, and rejection of mental health treatment-creates lasting harm for individuals involved. It’s this combination of secrecy, control, and exploitation that makes Scientology worse than most mainstream religions, especially in how it actively perpetuates harm both within and beyond its own community.

If she were to publicly leave the church, denounce the church, etc, she risks her family cutting all contact with her for the rest of her life as its a practice in Scientology.
Being second gen born in Scientology is the equivalent of being stuck in something that is all youve ever known and the church makes you believe you are the only group of people doing good on this earth. Thats what keeps them locked in.
By now, Emily has denounced Danny and I believe what she said to be genuine. Shes a private person for a reason so she probably didnt want to rehash this. I imagine she told the band about either being in or wanting to leave and to give her time.

On the one hand, they wanted to pick up where they left off, and Armstrong has a vocal style that is similar to Chester but still entirely her own. Performance wise there aren't a lot of other names I could see doing a better job.
On the other hand, the allegations of her ties to scientology and Danny Masterson are not to be taken lightly. I've heard she distanced herself when he was officially sentenced and may just be holding back criticism of the church out of fear of retaliation, but she needs to give a little more clarity on the situation before too long, lest such an exciting comeback continues to be tainted.

    • @aaronman4772

Problem is, I don't think she can easily give clarity on the situation, because Scientology doesn't mess around when it comes to "attacking the attacker". Cedric Bixler-Zavala literally alleges that when he got out of Scientology in 2020 they retaliated by poisoning his new dog by throwing raw meat laced with rat poison into his yard. The official policy of Scientology is attacking the attacker.
It's such a hard situation to balance her being born into it and, if she is trying to distance herself, finding how to do it without putting her, her family, and now all the LP crew in danger from retaliation.

My pushback to this has nothing to do with politics or religion.
My issue with this is one which also applied to INXS and Queen: if you have the talent, start a new band.
There are WAY more cases to support a case for successful sequel bands than there are lead singer replacements (though there have been success stories).
From the breakup of Split Enz, we got Crowded House
After the tragic passing of Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl reinvented himself with Foo Fighters.
The dissolution of Misfits gave us the superior Danzig.

I don't think much has changed on her stance with the Cult ( it's not a Church it's a fing Cult! ) or her support of Danny Masterson since last year... Linkin Park should cancel the Tour ( or should've waited with that til next year to first see the public's Reaction to her being the new main vocalist ) before going on tour with her... They should get rid of her ASAP to prevent an utter PR Nightmare.

Emily Armstrong’s involvement goes beyond silence-it’s a choice. Alongside other Scientologists, she reportedly harassed Danny Masterson’s accusers, necessitating sheriff intervention. Her band, Dead Sara, has toured with Masterson’s inner circle, and as recently as Thursday, Armstrong was with Masterson’s ex-wife, who still insists on his innocence-aligning with the official position of Scientology. This isn’t just a loose affiliation; it’s a clique.
Most troubling is her non-apology, where the phrase “unimaginable things” is deliberately ambiguous. For the public, it could be taken as empathy toward the victims, but for Scientologists, it signals deniability-a carefully crafted statement that allows believers to dismiss the charges as unbelievable. Armstrong’s fame, and whatever success she achieves with Linkin Park, risks being in service of a cult that participates in the very crimes Chester Bennington fought against and ultimately succumbed to.

Or is Emily just afraid to leave because she then wouldn't be able to have contact with her family or friends in the "Church"? I truly also believe that it's likely that to a degree, the label and band members had to have known and just don't care. They've waited 7 long years since Chester's passing to maybe do something with the LP band.
I just don't understand how lopsided and poorly handled this was on everyone's part.

Your cult is filled with people committing horrific acts-raping, covering up for rapists, and enabling others to do the same. Those who defend these actions become complicit, turning into abusers themselves, perpetuating a cycle of harm. And let's not forget the exploitation of children, as if those stains could simply be 'erased' through some ritualistic, pseudo-scientific process.
The maladaptive feelings people experience aren’t just internal-they stem from the maladaptive actions of your church. Cleansing rituals may temporarily remove the guilt for you, but the damage remains, both for the victims and those who continue to live in denial of that harm.
