Great and well balanced review. The tyres are probably what 90% of softroaders should be using, i reckon. I Use Roadians (by Maxxis), and have found them to also be an excellent tyre. Thanks for sharing mate!
I chucked a set of the Westlake's on my Grand Cherokee, they served me very well over the last 30k's. I found the on road grip really good, offroad they are just OK, they have copped some serious abuse on some tough tracks, rocks, loose stuff, mud, and were fine up the Oodnadatta Tk and across the Simmo. I only ever had 1 puncture with them, that was on the Birdsville Tk in between wet closures and the track was a mess, lucky for the TPMS I noticed it going down slowly, plugged her up and she was good to go. Problem is they make a hell of a lot of road noise, more than the Muddies I had on my old Hilux and they're hard!
What a great review on your budget tyres. They look good for 40000 klms. You have taken the X-Trail on many different surfaces and they are holding up well. My Bridgestone A/Ts 697 are now 5000 klms old and as expected they are still in excellent condition. As you mentioned better to go and spend a little more and get a strong tyre for overlanding... but your goodrides are holding up well.
Bought set goodride tyres for my Mrs. 2002 mazda 323 astina. First & last time. They were dangerous in wet weather conditions. Car would slipe/slide, skid applying brakes. Dry conditions, no problems. Would I recommend based on our experience, unfortunately no. Cannot comment on any of there other tyres.
@@jamtin3977I can confirm your experience with Goodride all season elite z-401 which unfortunately came fitted on my used Ford Focus mk4. Very dangerous tyre on the wet road, no grip at all. My previous Ford Focus mk3.5 with Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 (a proper winter tyre) was like on rails, just loads of grip in the wet. The Bridgestones however made a weird humming noise at around 90 kmh, but otherwise awesome tyre
When I got my Patrol in November it had these, had to go up to Queensland to get it, I think they don't sell these in NSW. 15,000km and I see some faults but I'm driving around with about 800-1,200kg payload all the time so its a bit hard to tell. I've skidded out a couple times in rain trying to brake hard, got bogged at a dam and they have have me fishtailing pretty wild on the haul road on the jobsite when its wet and muddy. Hard to say if that's the tyres' fault, because of that weight I'm not eager to air down too far, and I don't air down much for site since I'll be back and forth on the asphalt.. I will add that I got a flat, 4 plugs later and it keeps 37psi at most, again, that's probably more due to lifestyle and conditions. But they're not noisy and seem to have a decent bounce/softness, good load rating, I think your review is pretty well spot on. They're a fairly mild A/T tyre that performs better than the price tag would suggest... I'll know better when I've tried a few other sets.
Awesome review, thanks for your help, I've been struggling to find a lighweight AT 215/75 r15 for my little Suzuki Jimny, especially with the current disruptions. It's a proper little 4x4 nugget but doesn't have much power and lot of the 215/75 r15 are LT spec and can weigh 15-16kg each, I'm hoping to find something more in the 12-13 kg area that is still rugged enough for the Jimmy's low GVM.
Great review mate, thanks! Any comment on road noise? I do a lot of 100-110km/h driving, so wondering how these compare to similar designed tyres from Kuhmo/Yokohama etc
Cheers. They are louder than you more expensive branded tyres but not that bad. I have experienced other budget tyres that were just loud. I must say that when I swapped to 205 80 16 (same model tyre) they were louder than the 235s
Great review! I’m looking tyres for my Peugeot 4007. I would like to have opportunity riding out of road, to water with my boat for example or in the forest. So, lite off-road. Does it fit for me?
Im done subscribe too your channel, im planning too bought this car for 2nd hand/used. But here in Malaysia this car are under rated, never heard a major complain about this car, but hard too in youtube, especially in my region, perhaps your video will help me/us from Malaysia. Thanks mate.
I am a tyre fitter and A Plus are a very, very thin walled tyre prone to sidewall roll on corners, and coming off the bead at low pressures, and sidewall tearing, they are paper thin.
@@ianparsons8894I unfortunately got (almost new) Goodride all season elite z-401 on my "new" used Ford Focus and they are an absolute shit tyre. If budget is an issue, just buy a used Michelin/Continental/Bridgestone tyre and you will be much, MUCH safer on the road. You can easily google a proper review, for example my Goodride tyre has about 60 meters in wet breaking, while test winner Bridgestone Turanza all season stops at only 45 meters. Not so budget friendly anymore when you have a crash that could be easily avoided with proper tyres.
dont worry about the low range for rocks, you dont even have a 4x4. the wheel spin is cos yr using an AWD gear-train not designed for off-road use. hell, i cant even see any evidence of an ABS system preventing wheelspin.. dont tell me you turned off traction/stability control for rocks?
Settle down - blokes out there having a play, of course it’s not a $100k big dick 4x4 and I’m pretty sure he knows that. Good little cheap light soft off-roader with all terrain tyres can get you a lot of places - so STFU!
Tires.... Good video, I appreciate the time and update of a product that actually has been use especially the wide range you used them in.
Great review…no waffle, just excellent and well communicated feedback.
Perfect review. Video covered exactly what I wanted to see.

Cheers mate. I have Bridgestones 697s on my 71' Series 2a Land Rover 109. They are still brand new though 😀
Excellent review! Good to know there is a budget AT option that performs well in a variety of conditions.
Thanks for the review - I'm looking for some AT to fit to some spare wheels for occasional/fun off roading, so I think I'll give these a try.
I recently got a set of Apollo Apterra AT2 for my Everest but i still kinda like the Westlake SL369. They look nice and tough.
I recently reviewed the same tyres on my Battle Prius! Great video, thanks for sharing.
Appreciate your effort. Video turned out awesome.
Cheers mate
Another great, informative and helpful video thanks :)

Great Stuff ! love your work.
Gran video, me sirvió mucho. Un saludo desde Colombia
Для PRIUS 30 идеальная шина для путешествий. Действительно хорошая резина. Не ожил что так хорошо держит и гравийное и асфальтовое покрытие.
great for bulldozing or clearing snow

Love the jimnys and the old school samurais 👍 Looks like Goodride AT come in that size. Would be a good budget tyre option.

What is that roof tray you have?
I bought from Aldi. There is a video in my Unbiased Reviews playlist
what year and type is your Nissan X trail?
2007 T30
How does it fit 235/70 R16 do you need to do some changes on the Xtrail?
Any sort of lift will be good. It will also rub on full steering lock so a little negative offset rims will fix it.
Subbed. 👍🏽
What is your Tyre size?
237 70 r16. I have a vid in my mods playlist.
thanks u just saved me money lol
can u make a video on how to make your x trail louder
