That's about the vibe I got from this, too - somewhat like the joint out of "From Dusk Till Dawn", but less 'Mexican desert' and more 'Louisiana swamp', with all the necessary accouterments 😁👍...
When that 100 riffs video first came out i was kind of sad because they would never be first of october songs, and i am so glad that they're actually getting the use they deserve somewhere
Andrew, I just finished your book. Great read, man. I've been writing and publishing original material for a decade now, but your tips on getting into a creative headspace has been really helpful and inspiring. You helped me overcome some serious writers block, and now I'm writing something that I really like! Keep up the good work my man
@@ItsDylanBruh oh man, I'm standing tall haha. I was working on this small weekly show and it was customary to take a shot before we went live and one time someone brought Malort and gave me almost no warning. I felt my soul leave my body that day 🤣
I was actually getting some slight Pink Floyd vibes during the guitar solo sections! Andrew's solos actually reminded me a bit of David Gilmour, and the lead guitar parts in the second verse definitely contributed to it feeling a bit like Pink Floyd. Great job on this one, both of you! Edit: Look Mom I'm popular! (Okay, jokes aside-- seriously, thanks for the positive responses to this comment! I don't usually have anyone respond to my comments so it was really cool seeing that!)
One thing I absolutely love about seeing you two doing things together is the pure joy you guys obviously experience. The smiles almost never stop. This is such a key component of being in the music industry and you guys do it so well! Keep rocking
There's something to be said for the near constant communication between Andrew and Rob. Obviously all the talent helps. But the communication really makes something like this not only feasible, but fun and also awesome.
Probably my favorite of all the Sonic Boom tracks thus far. Super happy you held back and kept it simple and let the riff speak for itself. Also as a Canadian: 10/10 Loon
watching them cook like this is so nice to see. this video feels like a more chill version of a FoO album video. i've been working on music with a friend for years but we get super easily distracted and we don't play live instruments (at least in the music we make together) but we're incredibly inefficient. We've been working on a specific song for literally 7 years next month. Although, to disgress, we started working on it when we were fourteen and we're both neurodivergent so our distractible brains kinda reverberate off of each other and we make little progress when we work lol
Very random man, but i grew up watching your videos on RUclips, still tune in to this day! You inspired me to start making music, been making music since 2020. Love you guys man!
I've just re-watched the entire Sonic Boom playlist and I'd never noticed that they put a little bit at the end of theme song that's linked to the video in. Great touch. This tunes definitely my favourite. I wonder how long this banger took to make compared to their other hour challenges?
YEAH! DAMN, Andrew Huang, you've done it again! BEAUTIFUL, Man. Absolutely beautiful. And, thanks for sharing your process. I loved every choice that you guys made for this song. The bass and vocals were my absolute favorites, along with the lone loon sound at the end -and the improvised vo (lol).
bro rob and andrew are like the game grumps of music production, they have amazing chemistry on camera, also i think there could be an amazing arrangement of the song with a more stripped back version with like just guitar bass and drums like what Jack White did on SNL.
At first I wasn't feeling the lyrics during the recording process, I started to get the sense that this would be a song that was purely instrumental and thrown out into the world for other people to sing over top of (which could still work, because I also get the sense that a female vocalist would sound really good with these instrumentals), but when it all came together in the end, it really worked.
The vibe of this reminds me of Last Orders by the aristocrats. That’s the universal sound of a saloon or pub at night! Love watching your creative process, thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed them. But part of me wishes that this was just the first half of like a Stairway, One, or Freebird-style track where it built into a huge 2nd half.
I've been listening to a lot of Drive-By Truckers and these instrumentals definitely hit vibe give for me. Very dark, bluesy, and mysterious like a bunch of possessed cowboys. I love it
The only thing I would've added to this is some subtle background saloon noises like people talking and clinking glasses or something maybe that would've been a cool texture
Damn! Andrew's guitar chops are really getting good! The slower solo's you can really hear his tone! I love shredy shredy but damn that's some sweet hang time between notes! Rob's djent needed a break anyway!
It's so funny it's just a challange song but as an artist it was enough to motivate me to now draw a bunch of cowboys. thanks guys ur inspiring ppl here lmao
There is something about this that feels like it would be the soundtrack over a thiller movie scene where you see the guy walk into a bar and hooks up with someone he meets in the bar and you see them go back to a motel.
Yknow, I was totally on board with this being an insutrumental as well. Andrew's vocal sound didn't quite fit the vibe they were going for. But turned out pretty cool anyway

you gotta get an instrumental out. i need to do a vocal cover!!
I though the word the was our! thank god....
Something very funny about Rob thoughtfully mentioning that a banjo might sound good and then the very next cut to him he's equipped the banjo

I feel that when you’re a music person it’s really fun to slip into a genre that you haven’t done as much and get out of your comfort zone
@@romanallgeier4661so much fun!! Good vibes all day
I can't help but feel less western saloon and more some kind of funky bayou blues sung in a foggy downtown New Orleans bar. Amazing regardless.
First thing I thought, and I don't even listen to these genres of music! It just sounded funky and stanky, ha-ha. Sounds great regardless!

Yes, somewhere between the Wish You Were Here and Animals albums.
Same guitar and tuning, thats why ;)
somewhere in the middle of Echos at Pompeii for me

Always impressed by how versatile, fast and creative you are.
Humbling and very inspiring!

I want to hug that telecaster solo tone and never let go
I'm here wondering how a Tele with humbuckers and a Floyd still sounds like a Tele.
Andrew is by far the most versatile music producer on RUclips that I have ever come across.
Very random man, but i grew up watching your videos on RUclips, still tune in to this day! You inspired me to start making music, been making music since 2020. Love you guys man!
that is simply amazing. everything about that song is perfect.
This feels like a Raconteurs or Black Keys song from certain eras. Drips with atmosphere though. Good work!
Don't ever stop, this is an S tier collab, you guys and your team are great
I think this is the best song you guys have done so far on this show! Really incredible stuff.
This is really music.... Sounds like a Tarantino Soundtrack. Awesome Guys.
Wow, you even got Shohreh Aghdashloo to do a voice line at the end! 18:56

Adding it to my Deadlands RPG playlist immediately
If anyone plays Rimworld, this is exactly what the music sounds like, and I'm in love.
Exactly what I thought of! Especially the guitar fills between chords 🔥🔥
Guitar tone gives me Silent Hill 2 Theme of Laura vibes
Andrew has finally accepted his destiny with Rob of outdoing the Monster Mash

Two for two so far for these riff into full song that has gone straight into my main playlist 👍
Stylistically this is a wonderful example of how much you two can flex - you really committed to theme and it sounds awesome!

One of your best songs so far, well done :) also, i feel the quality of the songs is better when you don't have a time constraint
Andrew, these are some of your best vocals I've heard yet. Holy shit.
Good work! The song turned out really well!
The moooood! This is one of the best, it went straight to the playlist! Love the slow vibes

4:44 Major Silent Hill 1 and 2 Main Theme vibes! Put the violin and a tighter rhythm and that's spot on!
So this was the most sincere I've ever heard you both. Andrew had so much soul in his singing!
