    While I love the Layton series, praising it for integreating the puzzles in the story flow perfectly while giving "Zero Escape" as a negative example is complete bullshit. In the "Zero Escape" series, every puzzle is tied directly into the story by ebign excactly what the main characters have to solve, while in the Layton series, most puzzles are simply thrown in, while others are obviously not the puzzles the characters have to solve inside the story,

  • @OmegaVitaminC
    @OmegaVitaminC 8 лет назад +7

    I hate the Layton series, and strongly disagree with the claim that it "melds puzzles and story perfectly". The puzzles rarely have any basis in the story's context and, as a result, just cause the story to have poor pacing. I'm actually shocked to see someone try to compare it with Zero Escape, since as you said, Layton gives priority to puzzle solving while giving story a backseat, while Zero Escape does the opposite. Due to Layton gameplay's sloggy pace, I couldn't even stand to finish the Ace Attorney crossover.

    • @cyncynshop
      @cyncynshop 8 лет назад +27

      +OmegaVitaminC He did say Professor feature puzzles over story. However the story in Professor Layton is always pretty good, not as intense as Zero Escape but it has depth nontheless. Puzzles don't come out of no where, and you can skip many puzzles and do it later, if you think it slogs down the pacing. You can explore and find new puzzles, or don't. There is no penalty. I don't know about how the Ace Attorney crossover play like. But I played all the other games, I can tell you the game isn't sloggy at all. Some puzzles also hint at something deeper.
      That was just my opinion of the game though, and I understand Professor Layton's puzzle isn't perfect for people who aren't interested in this kind of puzzle. Just that you and I look at this game differently.
