fun fact: the story writers of the movie said that they created this whole story from this thought " a newborn baby thrown in a garbage dump raises its hand , what will be its backstory". Mersal and baahubali share the same story writer K.V. Vijayendra prasad. In baahubali you can see a similar shot where the grandma is holding the baby above the river and we find its backstory.
