The ford Vulcan 3.0 v6 was a good engine. I had one in a 03 Taurus but the rest of the car rusted out so bad that i it was too dangerous to drive anymore i had to scrap it. The gas tank rusted out the subframe started to go.
Fiat, Mitsubishi, Audi, VW, Mercedes, Ford, BMW, etc. Each of these manufacturers have been around for over 100 years. It's a joke that they didn't learn anything about engineering and assembly in all that time. Other makes, like Nissan and Suzuki have always been unreliable cars, even though Suzuki has made some outstanding motorbikes.
I got a 2004 ford focus wagon. 298 000 km and still runs good. Did a oil change on her last fall and just added half ltr of oil and drove 29 000 km in that year. Might do a oil change soon. But ya old car uses less oil then new
I bought a Hyundai kona 2022. I thought they were past the engine issues. No, the car had heat control module failure in 20,000. Then had a radiator failure at 30,000. The dealer service liked to argue that they may not cover it under mfg warranty. We traded it in at 40,000 after the starter would get stuck in the flywheel, the auto start feature a pain. No point having the dealer look at it, they would just ignore it. I previously owned older Hyundai Accent that ran 200,000 easily trouble free. A second Kia Rio 2008 my son bought has 200,000 runs great with typical Hyundai minor issues. We bought a Lexus, basically a Rav 4 on steroids with comfort features standard. Cheap cars are just that> Cheap. We have had Nissan never again, then a Subaru Forrester which had the head gasket failure under warranty. They didn't replace it, put sealant in the radiator to get it to the end of the warranty. So, no more Subaru for me. They treat you like a criminal, not a customer.

It's funny, I own a 2009 Chevy Aveo and it's been my most reliable car to date. Simple, basic motoring with nothing to go wrong. Mine has covered just shy of 277,000 kilometres and it runs great. I've only replaced the clutch once, besides regular servicing and wear & tear parts the car is still original, engine has never been opened and only front control arms have been replaced.
The car on the video preview I got to 280k miles before I sold it for something else. Never touched anything besides regular maintenance. 2013 Ford Taurus. One of my favorite vehicles
I owned a 2017 FIat 124 Spider convertible. Assembled by Mazda, I had no problems up to 70k miles when I traded it in for a 2023 Honda RIdgeline. So, not all FIats are junk, just the majority of them!
@paultomaszewski1964 not completely true, Paul. The FIat 124 had a Mazda transmission but a FIat 1.4L Turbo, iron block with aluminum heads. Ran very well through to the time it was sold. Mazda upped their non-turbo 4 in the Miata in 2018 to 185 horses (v 160 horses in the Fiat 124).
To say a Subarus cooling system is reliable is like saying Biden isn’t old. Those H-block pieces of sh*t are notorious for head gasket failure aka the biggest failure anyone could have within the cooling system 😂😂😂.
If you leave them stock, especially the turbo models, then the demerit comes into the realm of being reasonable. Non-turbo models literally just leak oil externally from the head gasket. I have yet to see a 'stock'(trust me, checked the CAL ID and VN) with a 'blown'/leaking head gasket. The term 'blown' is thrown around waaaayyy too loosely. I've seen non-turbo(ej251-253 back to EA engines) 'blown' head gaskets go another 100k miles(I serviced them personally) and as long as the owner knows how a dipstick operates and the lack of funds to replace said 'blown' head gaskets...no reliability/driveablity issues. I'm the youngest SMT one of the largest dealership networks(over 60 stores and various brands) has seen, setting a record in the company back in 2018, at their Subaru store. To say I know the brand well, especially on the technical side, is an understatement 😂😂
@ I work on them nearly everyday, they’re a junk car. Nothing you can say can convince me otherwise. From the trash cvt thats notorious for failure to external coolant and oil leaks from the head. I’ve seen it on both n/a and turbo models. And yes the cars I’m working on are all daily drivers/stock vehicles. Being 100% honest with you if you’re such a big Subaru enthusiast you should know Subaru has had these problems sense the 90’s (outside of the cvt issues, thats relatively new). Two main issues, the power plants themselves have always been faulty and in conjunction with negligence on the maintenance it’s only a matter of time before it’s being towed to a shop.
@ what does it matter if the coolant leak is external or internal? the head gasket failed (normal operation for a Subaru😭😂), meaning the head(s) needs to be pulled off. The term “blown” is used to give a one word description pertaining to the underlying fault at hand, no one needs a multiple sentence explanation on the coolant leak being external or internal because the end result is the same (unless you’re typing a story for warranty, which I know you do a lot😭😭😭).
Been driving cars since 1966. Most all-American cars made in the 70's were junk which is when Japan took over the market and by the mid 80's had established the world's highest quality standards. My 2011 Highlander with 165k drives like it just came off the assembly line. Sorry to say that in the five years it looks like even foreign manufacturers are slipping in quality.

idk why you choose the 2010-2019 taurus in the thumbnail, its such a good car, only problems were withe the SHO V8 edition which had a turbo valve leaking problem that makes you think it needs rebuild, but it just needs a new turbo
My brother had Opel Astra for almost 17 years, in all that time he change only batteries couple of time and disc brakes, engine and electronics worked like a Swiss watch..
Wtf.. my 2001 pt cruiser never failed me once!! Over 350,000 miles on it, and it ran flawlessly! I miss that car almost every day.. almost as much as I miss my aztek!
My late grandma had a PT Cruiser when new and after 1st year, it became a lemon. I remember driving it and noticed the gas pedal sensor was failing while i was driving it (i was still a student driver at that time). I had to floor the pedal 7 times before it would work again.
Not surprising you didn't include the worst ever failed foreign automobile manufacturers who once sold cars here in the US. The ones that just stop selling here in the US once their poor reputation became more than obvious. Notable examples are Peugeot, Renault, Saab, Isuzu, Daewoo, Daihatsu to name just a few.
Notice it wasn't on this list, because it was a decent car that Ford and their wisdom stopped making for more profit margin SUV/CUV's that have been less reliable.
Hence why I love my Mazdas, with the lone exception of that dreaded RX-8 model. But over the course of nearly a decade and a half, I've sworn by Mazdas, owning a 2010 Mazda 6, a 2013 Mazda 3, a 2014 CX-5(totalled, but kept me unscathed), and a 2013 CX-5 that I still have as we speak, and I have yet to have one leave me or my loved ones high and dry. 💯🙋🏼♀️☺️
USA has low octane and high percentage of ethanol in their fuels. For example in Europe 95 octans is minimum, while is the US 93 is premium gasoline. Also, USA has 10%-15% ethanol in fuel (not including high ethanol fuels for apecial vehicles), while Europe has up to 5% of ethanol in their fuel.
You left out the 2004-2007 Mazda 6 S sedan & Sport Wagon with the Ford Duratech 3.0l engine. My 2005 S Wagon 143k miles won't stop springing coolant leaks as we speak[= Hoses, warped plastic T-fittings, water pump & belt and >now the radiator have to be replaced. It got so bad that I actually purchased every hose & plastic hose fitting under the hood as backup along with the drive belt, tensioner & idler pulley (it chirps at startup). [=
Over engineering plus cheap manufacturing on new vehicles is a recipe for disaster. My 83 Thunderbird 5.0L with 85,000 miles still fires up and runs like a dream. And all electronics still work including power windows and locks, cruise control, digital dash, and all interior and exterior lights.
You have seriously mistaken in number 18.Vw Beetle. 1.8 turbo is the best engine in Vw history, but wasn't installed in Vw Beetle. I think catastrophic TSI 1,2, 1.4, 2,0 series was on your mind.
The Buick Rendezvous is the same platform as the Pontiac Aztek-- identical engine from the Chevy Venture and equivalents... They should have the same ranking, not be on opposite ends. I'm also surprised that Land/Range Rovers didn't make it to this list, but otherwise there aren't many surprises in this one.
I bought an 06 Sentra new , it now has 200k miles on it, and it runs like a top .The only thing that broke before it's time was a window regulator. WTF has Nissan done to one of the best cars out there?
Fiat 500L only had problems with its automatic transmission. The 1.4 fiat engine like all modern fiat engines are bulletproof. The regular Fiat 500 is very reliable. Never heard it wasnt. The Mini would have been great if BMW didnt steal it from Rover. The 2.8 engine in the chimaron was a very reliable unit.
If I'm not mistaken or maybe I am, but the lancer uses 4B11 engine right? So, that means the engine is not so reliable? Apart from the transmission, we know CVT is not so reliable and its very sensitive *edit : or 4B10 engine is not reliable?
You know I hate to be the one but we a Pinto when I was a kid and it never broke down and the Yugo..if the people would have followed the maintenance they were pretty reliable
The 5th and 6th gen Taurus used the 3.5L Duratec. Any Duratec besides the 2.5L and the 3.0 were junk. Porsche designed the Duratec 2.5 and 3.0. Ford started making rheir own changes to the 3.5 and 3.7. Absolute junk.
My 2023 VW Atlas had gave out on me at 55000 miles and i paid 50000 cash for it brand new with a 50000 mile warranty. Aint that a bitch now i have a 2025 chevy tahoe
Knew someone who had a 91 Passat GL and it made it to over 400 k recently and they live in Northern MN. Must’ve been a fluke. Used to have a 90 Jetta that I sold in 1993 with barely 30k on the odometer, and everything electrical, was a problem. Sometimes it would not start at all. Luckily it was under warranty at the time.
That was when they couldn't tell them V-Dub manufacturers NOTHING. 😊 And THEN...corporate big wigs got their hands in that cookie jar and I think everyone knows where I'm going with this...
as soon as they said chrysler 200 I was like yep they clearly never owned any of these cars we had 2 Chrysler 200s they was great cars we never had a problem with them. Many of them now have over 100k miles and still on the road. I was looking at a dodge stratus in 2013 and my dad said you don't want it unless they can show you that the oil was changed every 3000 miles. He's been a mechanic for 30 years he tells me something about cars I listen.
Fiat 500L 1,4 engine has no timing chain but timing belt and yes it has to be replaced every 50K miles or every 5 years whatever comes first, but it is not a big job and it doesn't cost a lot. Certainly if maintained correctly they dont fail. Where are these data coming from?

I bought a new Buick rendezvous and it was the worst crap I ever bought. I will never buy g m again.
Nissan went downhill in quality after Renault bought are large part of Nissan.
Gm 3100 and 3400 wasn't bad as long as you changed the intake gasket before it caused damage
As I observed a corvair passing by, the engine dropped to the pavement producing a shower of sparks. Pretty impressive display.
Thumb nail looks like a Ford Taurus, I got a 09 still running like a champ . Luck of the draw maybe 🤔
Mines is also, 2013 Taurus. The only thing I hate is the water pump issue.
Ive got a 2012 fusion its very similar car . 280k with no issues
Notice it wasn't on this list, because it was a decent car that Ford and their wisdom stopped making for more profit margin SUV/CUV's that have been less reliable.
@@zoomanx9661did you have the pump replaced yet? How many kms?
Hence why I love my Mazdas, with the lone exception of that dreaded RX-8 model. But over the course of nearly a decade and a half, I've sworn by Mazdas, owning a 2010 Mazda 6, a 2013 Mazda 3, a 2014 CX-5(totalled, but kept me unscathed), and a 2013 CX-5 that I still have as we speak, and I have yet to have one leave me or my loved ones high and dry. 💯🙋🏼♀️☺️
What you talking about yugo is best calr ever in Yugoslavia , you still can see them in Serbia 😊😊😊😊
I drive around 7k km (around 4.4k miles) a year. 60k miles is more than 13 years for me. I do not see a problem :)
How about we just say it like this:
If you can’t afford it new, you can’t afford to fix or maintain it
USA has low octane and high percentage of ethanol in their fuels. For example in Europe 95 octans is minimum, while is the US 93 is premium gasoline. Also, USA has 10%-15% ethanol in fuel (not including high ethanol fuels for apecial vehicles), while Europe has up to 5% of ethanol in their fuel.
Interesting point. I wonder how much it matters for longevity.
@filippocorti6760 more octanes is better for engine.
26 had the same system as the Chevy traverse, gmc Acadia, and at the time the Saturn outlook
Every second vehicle is a Chrysler haha
Over engineering plus cheap manufacturing on new vehicles is a recipe for disaster. My 83 Thunderbird 5.0L with 85,000 miles still fires up and runs like a dream. And all electronics still work including power windows and locks, cruise control, digital dash, and all interior and exterior lights.
You have seriously mistaken in number 18.Vw Beetle. 1.8 turbo is the best engine in Vw history, but wasn't installed in Vw Beetle. I think catastrophic TSI 1,2, 1.4, 2,0 series was on your mind.
Well you've convinced me. I won't buy a 1985 Yugo GV now. Thanks!
Rendezvous with the dealership lol
How about the F250 with the 6.0 diesel engines
If I'm not mistaken or maybe I am, but the lancer uses 4B11 engine right? So, that means the engine is not so reliable? Apart from the transmission, we know CVT is not so reliable and its very sensitive
*edit : or 4B10 engine is not reliable?
great video
I've always liked the Gremlin 🤪
The fiat 500 1.4L has a timing belt not chain😂
There are some or many Yugos in the former Yugoslavia that have gone over 200,000 miles.
The yugo was in good luck Charlie movie lol
Every car you show is already past 60k miles and over 5 years old.
You know I hate to be the one but we a Pinto when I was a kid and it never broke down and the Yugo..if the people would have followed the maintenance they were pretty reliable
96 volvo 850 455k miles runs great
The Tauras is a tank.
A good video, but I can’t hear the ai voice without hearing… the creature
Few, if any of these OLD cars are still on the road. This video is 10 or more years old.
What a crock.
And then lemons back then were quite few and far in between in comparison to today...
as soon as they said chrysler 200 I was like yep they clearly never owned any of these cars we had 2 Chrysler 200s they was great cars we never had a problem with them. Many of them now have over 100k miles and still on the road. I was looking at a dodge stratus in 2013 and my dad said you don't want it unless they can show you that the oil was changed every 3000 miles. He's been a mechanic for 30 years he tells me something about cars I listen.
Now I know buying a Honda was a wise thing to do: Honda always!
He said straight 6 in amc as showed a v8. Does this guy know engines?
Like I said before don’t trust any vehicle 🚗 with a turbo or just pay the price to dealership to replace
my ex wife had a Yugo she said it was a flawless ride up until about 85,000 miles. so i am guessing she was VERY lucky. she loved that ugly car.
Why are you talking about SEDANS on a channel called SUV ZONE??!! WHY???
Should be cars from 1990s on ward
I had a 2011 Ford Taurus that had 119K miles when I traded it off. Never had any issues with it.
Fiat 500L 1,4 engine has no timing chain but timing belt and yes it has to be replaced every 50K miles or every 5 years whatever comes first, but it is not a big job and it doesn't cost a lot. Certainly if maintained correctly they dont fail. Where are these data coming from?
I had my hart set on a Gremlin!
Got an explorer 2004 400k miles original everything
thanks
The top 10 should have been for new cars, not all the way back to the 60s and 80s.Really a yugo a russian pos.
May God bless everyone 🙏
Russian? Try Yugoslavia, with help from Fix It Again Tony, duh ya burnt out light bulb.
