    What a great car ! No rust , must have been a southern car or never seen a winter .

      Thank you much.
      I love you video.
      You have so much insight into what you do.
      I guess my question is better asked what years MGB engine are most reliable from the bearing design and least complicated with regard to pollution controls. The size should not matter as I currently have a MGA block and trans installed but I have a issue with the water jacket
      Thanks again
      Ted

    i had a 79, painted it as a black (only color) like 80 Limited w stripes, put on duel SU's and arched the rear springs. Great cars also to pull the EM brake whip around in other lane and take off again all in one action! Loved that that car! _ tires are fine. Get the ZENITH carb off of the thing! I burns cars!

    Very similar in color to my 77, which also has no rust. Tires were 20+ years old when I bought it 7 years ago and still looked new. Very good sign that its been garaged. I gotta admit I don't like those Rostyle wheels, but to each their own. Great car to let your hair down. Enjoy!

    Outstanding overview. I suggest that a fuel filter be installed to reduce the fine sediment form getting to the carburetor.

      Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. Yes, I did add a fuel filter 👍🏻

    I'd be wondering if the seat covers weren't from when the car was blue. It would explain why it had them that way.

    Love my 1980 rubber bumper MGB - what a shame they painted red over the Tahiti blue, such a great original colour!

      Shame they painted it every day red 😧

    Curious if you were installing an MGb engine with overdrive in an MGTD WHAT YEAR MOTR AND TRANS WOULD YOU CHOOSE

    • @mgbgtguy
      @mgbgtguy  7 месяцев назад

      I really don’t know, as I never really thought about putting a b-series in a TD. I would think a ‘67 and earlier engine would be a little easier as they use a smaller flywheel and wouldn’t take up quite as much space In the interior to clear the transmission.

    The blue color looks more like Teal Blue.

    How relevant is this to the 1980 mg mgb does the info crossover well?

    • @mgbgtguy
      @mgbgtguy  7 месяцев назад

      There’s lots of detail differences, such as a repositioned radiator, updated interior, added sway bars, a little more complicated emissions and wiring, but they are still the same car so it’s very relevant

    Wow. I live in the UK and many if not most of cars over here (of that age) are long rusted away. Road salt in winter & lots of rain otherwise. Nice purchase 👍

      Where I live in the States we get similar weather to England, so rust is very common in older cars around here. There are areas of the country where rust is not a problem, so there are a lot of good solid cars over here. This one came from another part of the country

    Seems to have a differential oil leak that needs looking at ? 😯

    • @mgbgtguy
      @mgbgtguy  8 месяцев назад

      They pretty much all have that leak 😂
      I usually top them off unless the owner has real concerns about it and wants the seal replaced

    Agree with his position on the interior seat covers... they look totally lame. Paint job is obviously inferior. But overall this car is not in bad shape.

    They are great cars till they are not.
