    I miss diving in the West Palm area. I lived in Jupiter and Jensen Beach for 16 years (79-95). I liked diving the Blue Heroin Blvd. Bridge before it became so famous. Many times I would take my Open Water Students there for dives 1 and 2. I also liked the Jupiter Island bridge to catch fish for my aquarium.

      Hello Jeff Conley, the bridge is still a great place to dive. Due to it's popularity, it can get crowed at times. It does makes it convenient for filler dives when we take charters out of West Palm Beach and the charter gets cancelled.

    I'm so jealous. I was there end of last June, around 10 in the morning with all my scuba gear and ready to go....couldn't find a place to park closer than half a mile. Get there EARLY!! Ended up going out with Pura Vida Divers the next day, so I still had a good trip

      It was extremely crowded each day we dove the bridge dpd0710, so I completely understand the struggle.

      Unfortunately that has happened with becoming so widely know. In my day (1979-1995) it was much easier to find a good spot. I could usually find a spot by the beach.

    For shark diving I always go with SaltyDivers charters in Jupiter fla. Or you can just snorkel with shark and I must warn you swimming with sharks is extremely ADDICTIVE !

    Love diving that area of Florida. Blue heron is still on my list. Big fan of the park in Jupiter, though!
    The backfinning when you accidentally woke up the nurse shark was impressive

    • @LakeHickoryScuba
      @LakeHickoryScuba  Год назад

      Hello souswes, typically on fun dives like these, my camera is mounted on a stick or arm that extends a few feet out from me. So those up close shots are not really that up close for me. The back finning does come in handy though.

    I was down there this week as well. Did a 3-tank with Ocean Quest on Sunday 2/19 and BHB that night. Glad to see you all had better conditions. We moved south the rest of the week and had great dives, 16 over the course of the week.

      Hello tedlin4962, the bridge had some poor conditions when we were there, that's why we haven't uploaded any videos from it. Diving with Ocean Quest was a 1000 times better.

    You need to come back in September/October for Goliath Grouper season! It is one of only three known giant grouper aggregations known to still exist worldwide and the largest of them. It is possible to see 20-50+ giant 200-600 pound fish in one dive! It amazes me how many divers that I have met, some of whom live here full or part time, that have never dived here and have no idea about the diversity of wildlife in this area.

      I will be there in July and possibly October michaelchristenbury552. I will be bringing my family down in July, for a week long family vacation, and October I have several friends that are wanting me to guide them while we are there. If you have any more information, please send it to bryan@lakehickoryscuba.com. I am definitely interested in coming down then and diving with the Groupers.

      Hello @marcopereira8631, this is a great relaxing drift dive for even a newly certified diver. I would suggest taking some type of drifting diving specialty course though, as all of these dives are drift dives.

    • @LakeHickoryScuba
      @LakeHickoryScuba  Год назад

      Hello johnstepp9597, we spent a few days diving at the Blue Heron Bridge and several days diving with Ocean Quest. They took us up and down the beach line to some amazing spots. Every dive we made had sharks, turtles, eels, and squid. No matter what reef system you dive at West Palm Beach, you are going to see a ton of underwater life. I don't recall the actual reef systems we dove on, but several we simply drifted across. The current was as strong as reported, so we had some nice leisurely dives. Most were 60 feet and less, and average around 40 feet. We made several hour long dives, and a few hour and half dives. The Bridge was very shallow, and we spent most of the time there training our Open Water and Rescue students.
