  • This video was shot before Covid-19 and has been cleared by PAO. All footage was captured by myself during my time as Cadre on Sand Hill. Victory Tower is truly terrifying for many of these trainees as they learn to trust themselves and their equipment.

    From A Marine: Many feel the fear when doing this, you're not alone. Completing the task by safely reaching the bottom is what makes you fearless. I was an 18 year old scared straight boy at boot camp when I did this. Many of your fellow recruits are whether they admit it or not. just encouragement for those enlisting.

    • @queloqjohnny4839
      @queloqjohnny4839 3 года назад +5

      Yea, they really did. They replaced it with the 100 yards. The 100 yards is the lamest thing...the preparation for it was trash since it’s new they might make it better. All that happens is they play some noise in the background and you carry some equipment down they yell at you a little but they yell at the group as a whole...they do a little introduction after with some guns smoke grenades some tracer bullets that was the cool part, but we didn’t get smoked badly during...it was day 1 training more like a cool introduction. Remember these drill sergeants hate some of the changes as much as you so a lot of them still might say fuck it get in your face yell and pretty much shark attack you without a shark attack... so many more rules so they try to get around it still. My company was mostly SF and ranger and 95% of them been to combat so they definitely didn’t treat us soft. No shark attack but they still got in ur face and smoked the shit out of us often. It’s still a good experience just make sure u don’t get an integrated unit I had an all male unit & go infantry. Really depends on your company/platoon ur in.

    I don't think it's a good idea to be aggressive with guys who are repelling for the first time. They can break their neck if they screw up.

      I mean “staged” isn’t necessarily the right word but yes , when I filmed they usually did tone it down, also I selected the footage and had to go through and throw out footage that was “too much”

      @@operatorblack you’re watching a video of recruits. These guys aren’t going out on special op mission, you can’t compare these guys to seasoned military personnel.
