Feedback: brilliant !! Keep doing the vids mate. You’ve helped me so much. I resonate with it all. First had puff at 14, then been drinking, packet etc etc 1-2 (sometimes 3) times a week since. I’m 49 this year. But now clean for 6 months 3 days. Doing gym 3 times a week now and loving it. I feel like I’ve got a mate doing it with me watching your videos. Cheers mate !!! No pressure 😂🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Great podcast mate. Thanks. Just done over 2 months sober myself and as you say, sobriety gives you everything that alcohol promised but failed to deliver. My mental health has improved vastly. I'm actually happy. Also, I'm going to meetings and that has helped me beyond words. Good luck to everyone who decides to make this change.

Deciding to go sober after having way too much the weekend. I obviously got way too excited and did not want the party to end. But then I embarrassed myself and have been cringing for days.
So now, I’m finally deciding to knock it on the head as it isn’t serving me anymore. Gonna take it one day at a time and keep reminding myself of the reasons why I’m quitting.
Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s really helpful!!!

Dopamine Nation by Dr Annie Lembke is highly recommended. I also read “The subtle art of not giving a f*ck” which surprisingly helped me a lot when trying to knock the packet on the head.

I've been sober for 7 months now. I started listening to your pod on week 1 of being sober. I could relate so much to you and your guest and just listening to the different stories of Sobriety helped me to get to where I am today. Honestly, it's changed my life - I'm not depressed anymore, I have the get-up-and-go, and I want to spend more time with my family. I still go out to the pub and the lads I go football with still get on it around me, but I'm in a place where people respect and support my choice of being sober. I got to say Non-alcoholic beer has allowed me to still socialise in a pub and feel like I'm still a part of the group. Once you're in it, it's easy to keep going. Keep it up guys!

"This is not a dress rehearsal "
Your seriously making my decision to follow you in sobriety, ive always felt i needed the packet and beer to fit in and be the main entertainment which i was good at and it felt good, yes it was always mental and a good laugh, but theres a very strange way over here in England,im irish and living here over 12 years and ive found that being 30,40,50 even 60 over here everyone feels and acts young like there in there 20s...back home if your 30 your expected to have your own house, car, wife and kids
But here in london i landed to a serious mash up boyyyyyyy i knew a man of 50yrs of age waiting for his mum to pay his phone bill so he can call it on....
Chazza will vow for that, hes a boy Chaz and hes thriving now fair fucking play, how you control yourself is amazing.think of your wife and kids,im trying but its hard..

Hi Dan, been listening to the podcast on Spotify, i have been able to relate to many of the guests and yourself. Once you get through the looking glass of our British drink and drug culture it seems crazy, I look back on me drinking heavily since 16 in pubs, getting hammered and stumbling home barely able to walk from the club, cringe worthy really, then later the drugs come in (which got pretty bad...), chatting nonsense all night, being a dick, becoming weirder each time, mental health getting really bad, seems crazy I only just stopped all this stuff at 35!? Just curious, do you read any fiction or just read non fiction about health, mental health and sobriety etc?? Thanks again, Charles

Mate it’s hard I’m struggling with going out socially without drinking. Not so much because I can’t do it but because drunk people are so boring. I end up getting irritated by them and end up not wanting to be there which makes you seem miserable.
It’s so true that alcohol is the only substance that people think you’re weird for not doing. Similarly to Dan, for me alcohol isn’t necessarily the problem, it’s the calling the packet on when you’re 2 pints in that’s the issue. I had to make the decision to quit drinking as it was the biggest trigger.
