Racism dying would gravely damage the left. This is one of the best examples of why the 2 party system needs to go, and team based politics in general.
Our entire system is based on promising to slay the boogeyman, failing, blaming the other guy for the failure and then promising if you vote just one more time, the boogeyman will be defeated.
Success would mean that you need to have new untested promises, its best to keep the boogeyman everyone knows alive and well.

Thomas is 92 years old. He rarely gives interviews. That's why he mostly interviews with the Hoover Institute. If you're really interested in him, he has a ton of videos on his channel and elsewhere. He's a student of Milton Friedman, Free to Choose, an economist that's fantastic to watch, he's now deceased. In fact, his Free to Choose channel runs his multi-part documentary from the 80s, I think it's 13 parts, and a very young Thomas Sowell showcases in several episodes. Milton is long gone, but that show, filmed in the 80s is not only amazing, but sad, because everything that Friedman discusses then STILL happens today. Mean ZERO progress has been made all these years. I'd tell you to watch the 13 episode serious off-channel because it's really amazing to hear.

But if he really wants to blow his mind, he should watch Free to Choose in his free time to see that what Thomas and Milton were talking about in the 80's still exists today and has NEVER been fixed. Politicians have been running the same Ponzi schemes for decades without fixing problems. All they do is keep creating problems to keep them in office. Why solve a problem? It means you're no longer needed. In fact, if you watch Ronald Reagan's '64 A Time for Choosing speech, it will REALLY piss you off. This has been going on forever. Same problems today in 1964. We just need compassion and understanding, respectfully disagreeing where needed, and not trying to push hate or unrealistic expectations on others. We can put aside our differences (except perhaps psychopaths) and live in harmony. And videos like this should help bring that about. 🙏🏼😊

Thomas Sowell is a National Treasure! I have long admired him. I highly recommend every single one of his books. The knowledge and wisdom they contain about so many subjects are far more valuable than a college education, these days, anyway.
Reading Sowell is a mind-blowing experience. It's like seeing the world as it really is for the first time. You'll find yourself thinking, "That's so obvious, why didn't I think of that before?" Or, you'll be thinking, "Wow, I never knew that, or why was I never taught this in school?"
    Here are a few examples.
“If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 60 years ago, a liberal 30 years ago and a racist today.”
    Thomas Sowell
“Have we reached the ultimate stage of absurdity where some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, while other people are not held responsible for what they themselves are doing today?”
    Thomas Sowell
“Racism does not have a good track record. It's been tried out for a long time and you'd think by now we'd want to put an end to it instead of putting it under new management.”
    ― Thomas Sowell

He’s paid by the Hoover Institute to promote the idea that African-Americans are solely to blame for their situation, and nothing, not Jim Crow laws, not Segregation, not redlining, none of the overtly (and in some cases, admittedly) racist policies have any bearing whatsoever on the situation. Research “The Southern Strategy”, which was literally an openly stated policy by the Republican Party to flip the South from being Democrat to Republican, by playing to racist white Southerners, and convincing them that black people were a bigger threat than poverty. It worked incredibly well, obviously. But it was so egregious, The Republican Party actually formally apologized for this to the NAACP. But if you listen to Thomas Sowell, none of it happened, and even if it did, it made no difference, because American black people deserved it.

I find your thoughtfulness to be refreshing in this day and age. I grew up during the 60's and my parents actually bought a school bus and hired a driver to send their kids (8 of them) along with white kids from some other families to an all black Catholic school in the "inner city". There were about 300 kids in that school and about 15 were white. It gave me a different perspective on things. The kids at the school were just the same as the kids at my previous, all white, school; some were cool, some were bullies, some were smart, and some were not smart. I learned that there really isn't any difference between whites and blacks. Jerks are jerks regardless of race.
I would say that Thomas Sowell is one of the best economists out there. He is known for his well researched and evidence-based conclusions. He was a Marxist when he started university, but shed that label after studying under Milton Friedman. The one thing he does that is very rare, is that he will change his mind on things if the evidence does not bear out his beliefs. I would strongly suggest studying Sowell by reading his books or watching some of the numerous video's on RUclips. The best thing to learn from Sowell - even if you don't agree with his conclusions - is that you should draw conclusions from the evidence, not find evidence to support your conclusions. This holds for any topic and prepares one to be confident in their beliefs.

I especially love when I meet new people of different ethnicities especially from a similar age group as I am. I always straight out ask them what their experiences in their life are as I would like to understand. I have had many people jump on me for asking so directly but never the people I am asking. It is usually white people in the vicinity. I have come to the conclusion and after sharing my own experiences many people agree that I had an extremely similar life. There was such a huge movement towards people coming together. And then people started pushing all these narratives adding new life to the racial tensions. It's an unfair world and there are evil people who want to watch this world burn.

I’m someone in recovery from addiction. Directness can be a matter of life and death for us. Especially when we are talking about resentments and ways we have been wronged. Victims do not recover. We do not shame or blame victims, but we will, to save another’s life, go so far as asking people who have suffered terrible abuses to consider what their role in it all was and what they could do differently. The goal is unapologetically to change their point of view on the matter to one that benefits them instead of holding them back. I have sponsored men who aren’t my ethnicity and I have seen them lose to a cultural resentment that has been drilled into them by seemingly well meaning individuals their entire lives. It is tragic every single time. I’ve passed men I really loved and enjoyed working with off to someone else who could get through the color barrier better than me because of it. The real world has no bleeding heart and rarely offers consolation for such things. The only reason I even want to hear about another man’s problems is to get to what he is going to do about them. Ultimately that’s what matters. It’s never an easy thing but it is doable with the right mindset and a little help. More people would be direct as you call it if they understood the damage they do when they aren’t. You carry on my brother. The world needs directness.

Agree totally and it's so important we've now got so many decentralized (and UNCENSORED) means of social media and communication so more and more people can be exposed to his work and ideas and incredible wisdom. He addresses racial issues that the media, politicians, and their overlords have now spent centuries using to stoke and encourage and build emotional reactions to on both "sides". Even the terms "black" and "white" are built in to imply inherent total opposition. But he somehow cuts straight through ALL of that programming and reaches listeners with the way he communicates so they can hear him present facts and ideas that resonate with the vast majority of people regardless of their skin color or politics or lack thereof (which I think means he is speaking truth, or as close as we can ever possibly get to it). Sorry for the tangent, didn't intend to write that much when I started this comment, just got me thinking!!!

Love your reaction videos Jamel. Thomas Sowell (pronounced like "soul") is a brilliant scholar & economist who blended economic analysis with his study of just about any topic in history that generated unique insights few others are capable of producing. When it comes to topics of race and economics, there is no one better qualified to produce the most reliable sources of information and analysis than this brilliant mind. His prolific output has been largely shunned by the African-American community because he debunked socialist & liberal ideology in favor of uncomfortable truths. He had no patience for arrogant but inferior minds, or those afflicted with pet ideologies that fit their own bigoted views or special brand of ignorance. I first encountered his unique writings back in the 80's, but his book "Conflict of Visions" and "Vision of the Anointed" helps in understanding how he views the left vs. right phenomena. He doesn't appreciate political labels, as they don't capture the realities he is famous for revealing. So, if you want to learn more about the wisdom this brilliant scholar has to offer, I suggest staying on RUclips and start with one of his most significant contributions to the field of slavery: The End Of Slavery Explained - Full Compilation: ruclips.net/video/mVyM47hOdLE/видео.html. Good luck!

    I have 10 of his books. He’s a legend.
    I’d recommend “Discrimination & Disparities”, it’s a very enlightening & concise 180 page read.
I’d also highly recommend “Basic Economics”. A very lengthy book or audiobook, but if you read/listen to that then you’ll understand economics better than 95-98% of Americans. (Even some economists, since many are taught flawed Keynesian or Marxist-style economic theories.)
That book, & it’s knowledge, will help you debunk a multitude of false & destructive leftist economic ideas.
I’d also recommend most of all his other books too, hard to go wrong.

    • @seanprice6535
      @seanprice6535 Год назад

It is difficult to say this is the "truth" because we all experience our "truth" differently. Thomas Sowell is not rejected by liberals because of his theory of "Black Rednecks" as folks in the South (both black and white) have been voting against their own best interests for generations. Liberals take issue with Sowell et al, because he endorses the people and the institutions that work and spend unGodly amounts of money and energy convincing people of the South to continue to vote against their own best interests and use racism to help sell that message. You see, that is a truth that is easy to research. Now, I'm not saying that liberals don't use the human condition and spend Ungodly amounts of money and energy to convince folks to vote for the outcome they want. My point is that the truth is not always black and white...things rarely are. I try not to get caught up in the right and wrong of everything, I work diligently to reside in the realm of reality.
