Great video! Oddly enough it's the window decals on the saucer that are the correct size and the ones for the secondary hull are too big, I've always used an aftermarket set on my Excelsior class builds. I think it was me you were talking about with the gun mettle grey and then the black wash. You are correct about the base of the neck being silver and I do paint mine that way but not for the neck itself.
Hmmm, I don't know. Wouldn't it be better if someone designed a whole new top and bottom saucer with all of those improvements for you to print? That would save you from all of that cutting, puttying, blending, scribing, and general heartache, right?
If I could commission an Excelcior Class ship, I would name it the USS Nuevo Leon, NCC-2139B. It would be a deep space survey cruiser that is assigned to the Delta Quadrant. Its sister ships that would provide back up would be a squadron (6) of modified Runabouts; USS Red River NCC-2245 USS Mississippi Queen NCC-2215 USS Colorado River NCC-2220 USS Rio Bravo NCC-2216 USS Rio Brazos NCC-2301-B USS Sabine River NCC-2349 Apart from those, Nuevo Leon would have a complement of 6 work bees, and 5 Type III Shuttlecraft: Orion #1 Cassiopeia #2 Ares #3 Socrates #4 Apollo #5. Each auxiliary craft would be adorned with historic WW2 era nose art.
I'm working on designing the alterations needed to kitbash the 1/1000 Enterprise-B & Excelsior together, and your build log is helping me immensely. When might we get an update?
Love the Excelsior, probably my favourite trek kit (especially the 1701-B version). Amazing attention to detail as well with those windows. Gotta say, creating a whole new saucer top seems like something the community would love. Have you decided on lighting the nacelles or not? Don't remember you stating one way or another, remember the lit nacelles only showed up in Voyager episode Flashback when they made the digital version that was used in later DS9 episodes as well. Great stuff as always, keep at it!

Would be, but I'm working with what I have.

I'm focused on the Reliant right now but hopefully I'll have an update on the Excelsior and Enterprise A soon!

A totally new saucer would be best, I'm not at that level of CAD to be able to do that. I will indeed light the warp engines!
They altered the exelsior model between "seasch for spock" and "undiscovered country"?
Yes the bridge is different, impulse deck is two crystals on the NCC, and the rear shuttlebay is different.
Another great build series, this time of my favorite ship! Thanks so much!
