while this guy was talking the puppy was having a TIME with that leash lol
Thought i was the only one who notice... it was adorable
That was all I saw loooool
Puppy got itself into a mind jam & got itself out of it without help. It was a good learning experience in problem solving.
🤣🤣🤣

Wow i rarely see any protection tutorials! Great work
Protection training is dangerous because most people only teach the dog to bite and not to let go
Brandon Schroeder
That and a lot of people don’t properly socialize the dog, owner trainers often make their dog think everything is a threat.
He's using the rag as in form of someone's arm
protection for you not for your dog.
Lol

pup having an absolute crisis behind the guy casually talking 😂 funniest thing I’ve seen in a while
Funniest thing in the world 😂🤣
i trained blue tick hounds for 3 decades, I've now retired and have moved on to GSD's for home and family protection. You Sir, are an invaluable asset for everything i wish to do. thank you...
I’m a mil handler and trainer and I loved his technique. Bite precision and force are muscles that have as much to do with their mind as with their mouth. 6 more years until I retire and I’m going to start a school and hopefully train hunters. Can’t wait!
5 years and 360 days to go.
How can I teach my dog to be aggressive
The Blue Tick Hound is the mascot of the University I graduated from
I don’t have dogs, but listening to you talk about training makes me want one. Your very calm in the way you explain. Very good
Dogs are super easy to work with they handle calm training better than yelling etc. Mine has drive for both prey and guarding but will not really hurt any animal that he doesn't seem a threat or person approaching calmly.
And any dog can be that good I had a pitbull that recused kittens loved other dogs and all people but if you came to my house you had to say hello first to be able to stay around because he had to know you weren't a threat.

Please keep this series going bro. Im looking to get a german shepherd and would love to teach it myself. I find it hard to find someone to train a dog in the UK that won't cost a arm and a leg. Great content you gained a sub 👏 👌
I’m the same man. I enquires at some of the costs of a protection dog here and was amazed. I intended to buy a working line dog and do it myself or hopefully find someone local for sessions?
This was great, thanks, been searching for "german training words german shepherd" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Renogan Zonucas Theorem - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my m8 got excellent results with it.
Many thanks, I have been researching "personal protection training german shepherd" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Renogan Zonucas Theorem - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my co-worker got excellent success with it.

I have trained 1740+ dogs and one mini horse in obedience, S&R, lead, mercury, and cancer detection but, I know absolutely nothing about protection training. You are spot on with the philosophical components of dog psychology as far as what I have watched. There are literally 1000's of nuance to training a dog and very few trainers have them; kudo's to you my brother in training.
I love her bark
Their a lot of good dog training podcasters, but I think this gentleman is the best. Thank you sir for teaching me.

Amazing how selective breeding works, these puppies are perfect example of that. Good stuff
I had an accidental litter of Doberman/Boxer pups and they are so smart and so strong and so eager to learn, it’s absolutely amazing. We have given most the puppies away to family and friends but kept 3 and their progress is really incredible over 7 months. Selective breeding is great but sometimes, you just get lucky.
We have a puppy bout 4 months been training her a bit but I’m starting to watch some of your videos nd tbh they’ve been helping little by little thanks so much very informative nd calm explained very well
Look at this beautiful baby girl!!! She’s precious!!!
Awesome video! I had a high drive working Shepherd in Japan a number of years ago that I trained via a mentor. I just got a new DDR pup and am excited to start training him, but have forgotten so much over the last 11 years. Your video is inspiring! Thanks!
Got any tips man?
When I’m in a bad mood I watch you transform a sweet boi into a gooood boy
Love how u said "cause shes a little baby"
When doing this type of training, ALWAYS back tie with a HARNESS, not a collar.
You can use what you want .
@@jacash9919 no a collar will hurt him badly u can google what happens when a dog pulls on a leash/collar but a harness doesnt hurt the dog
Blah blah blah.

Best breed ever!!
I love this channel and content soooo much.
Thank you SHIELDK9!!!!!! This is awesome!!!
A well trained dog can exponentially multiply your power in a defense situation, couple this with even a moderate level of firearm training and you will survive 95% of defensive combat.
Your puppy is so cute!!!
Another great video, very informative. And as I've said before very generous of you, thank you!

Great video, I’ve noticed my Carpathian Shepherd puppy has a natural guardian instinct more than other dogs I’ve had. Will try and see how he does with this introduction.
Carpathian shepherds are literally a guardian breed, that's why lol
Good puppy ❤️
Puppy thinking : Oye human stop talking and help me take this paw out
I have a Shep Rot. And this dog, I'll tell ya. Guards with her life. The do not's, walk up from behind, go near the car with us in it, come to the front door, walk in are house or property period, there is a slew of thing's. My wife and I trained her. But, she is so Loving and caring and funny. She just turned 2 this past May. We have had her since she was about.......3 months or so. She is 78pounds and all muscle. Extremely, extremely, fast!
I just got my first gs puppy,, he’s a solid black seven weeks old,, the first couple nights have been rough on him

How far can I do bite work training as the handler and at what point do I need a decoy/helper as to not damage my relationship with my dog?

When she got stuck with her paw at the start haha.
Hi, can you show various approach patterns like offering side view or back to train a more defensive puppy not to trigger defense drive please. It will be useful.
Huh?
I don't know but why found this funny 🤣😂😂
Very interesting! I know zero about doggos. I like your method.👏🏻
Keep up the good work I got a gsd and trained it and it worked
Very adorable dog
How old is the puppy? WHen is the best age to start training him.?
the best time to train your puppy is like when your puppy is use to you and then you can start in my opinion with all my GSD experience
*salutes to Shield K9 Dog Training*
Wow simple way of reaching, Nice
Thank you for the video. Very useful 🤗😊
Can I do this training my self or do I need a helper or decoy? I’ve been told I can’t do this type of work as the handler as it could damage my relationship with my dog. Is that true?
This isn’t true because the dog thinks of it as a game or like tug of war, there’s no aggression :)
It ought my dog how to guard with my own methods (using cows) so let the dog bark at something then reward then after a few times add the command “guard”
@@nieskakelly766 What do you mean cows?
It’s better to find someone the dog never meet and let them aggravate it and make it aggressive then if you use someone the dog knows and recognizes the secnt then that dogs most likely goin hate them idk wth he’s doing it looks more of playing don’t trust this video

Thanks for the knowledge, subbed
Put a screen door spring on the back tie and a mouse in a white bucket for the tease, if you want a super mouser.
I see the title has German Shepard in it, Is the process different for other breeds, like bandogs or Apbt’s? 🧐
I got attacked while walking my dog and my dog walked away with the dude who beat me up
Wat?
Ya "dog" set u up
Omgg I'm here because my 1yr old German Shepard will probably let me get beat up to😫. He let a random person walk up and tried to open my car door. Even after he herd me yell at the man he proceeded to take a nap smh..lol
Is this a joke? If not, did you get your dog back?
@@cindygutierrez5401 How old is he? You may be too late for protection training.
German Shepherds are very smart, but also stubborn. Once they are set in their ways, you will need a professional trainer. And even then, most owners give up because it takes so long. Or you are some God among dogs and don't know it yet. Good luck nonetheless.
Good job
Can you do a tutorial on how to teach your dog/puppy release
Is that a homemade rope/leather tool? Or can I buy it somewhere? Great video. Thanks.
Great question
You think you could make a video of all the videos for this training up till today?
Hi, my question is regarding to future: I have small dog Cavalier King Charles and I am thinking about getting also a German Shepherd it’s bc 1) I always wanted one 2) A dog that can protect the house and my dog as well, let me be clear I don’t just use the dog as security guard ofc I would like to take care German shepherd and doing necessary things such as exercise and care but, I also make sure the two of the dog(King Charles and German Shepherd) get along as well like brothers
For someone that keeps harping on "don't go in on her", you go in on her quite a bit. Nice pivot though, after realizing the contridiction, with the "she's confident, so we can go in on her. However, nothing bad should happen here" lesson. Never missed a beat, more importantly fooled the rest of us that "don't know the process". Bravo.
What I DO know is, you shouldn't have to teach a dog, especially that one, "how to bite". If there's one thing a dog knows how to do, and early on at that, is bite. The stupidest, uneducated dogs of any breed will rip your face off, and not think twice about it when put in that situation. It's what they do. Also, if the dog wants it bad enough, she won't let go of a brick. Your only task at this stage is to encourage that enthusiasm, channel the natural instinct to bite toward only what you tell her to bite, and make her believe she can't live without it. Win-win for both. No chance of broken or ripped out teeth, and you get to move on, or "skip" if you will, onto release command training.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, just went and rambled on a bunch of nonsense for no reason whatsoever lol.
@@Jonathan-cz4ky yeah, ok. I was training USM- EOD Shepherds and Mallies when you were still in diapers. Your whole schtick is a joke, you should delete your channel before you ruin any more pups' minds for a buck.

Very Nice and Informative Sir

that helped me so much thank you
Well explained good job!
Thanks!
perfect and no pitch collar , nice to see 👍
Do you think protection training is appropriate for my situation: I want a companion but also a dog that can sense when I am in danger or I can communicate I feel unsafe. I do happen to be a woman living in a big city and I would like my dog to be friendly and approachable in the neighborhood and at dog parks but who can also protect me if I am in danger. I do NOT want my dog to perceive everything as a threat though if that makes sense
That dogs still teething lol 😂😂 it's still a baby 🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼
I may have been taught wrong years ago. I thought (was taught) the dog should be allowed to eventually win with toy released given to dog? Then restart training exercise. Was I taught wrong?
This guy has made up all his own systems of stuff that is actually done and things he is making himself. That’s why he shows everything on RUclips for free. NO ONE else does this because it’s irresponsible to show random ass people who have dogs to teach them this shit for free. Any Joe shmo who boys a pit bull and goes oh look cool I can make it aggressive and bite 🤦🏼♂️
@Chris Cullison hows it going now
Shes gorgeous
How long do you typically work on the bit grip or how long does it usually take for the pup to get the firm bite before you move on?
The bite grip depends on the breed and age of the dog, as a puppy they're still getting the hang of it. It may be due to you not making it interesting enough for the dog to want to engage, hints not very good grip bites, and lack of interest (if there is any). If thats the problem try a different toy, or make the activity seem fun. It shouldn't take long for a 'good bite' to come in. Puppies have strong (and sharp) yet weak teeth, so till theyre more mature i guess you wont exactly get a great bite out of them lol. Honestly depends on the breed and if they enjoy working or not. A year late but thought id still comment incase anyone else needs an answer.🤷♂️
You do this type of exercise until the puppy is consistent. It could take a few days to a few weeks. But once they are getting strong consistent bites, it’s time to move on.
Exactly what I do with my cats, I think I have good practice as I do want a dog next! Except cats don’t need a leash!
Puppy still have fun just because they’re getting trained and disciplined doesn’t mean they’re not gonna have fun puppies like fighting
Thanks for sharing super!
