I think even after 5 years, many people might not have understood the point of this video So here it is... Here we have a girl who believes the world around her is nice, she is confident enough to step out of the car on an empty road with a car of 5 adult men coming near, and she even asks for help to repair her car, but things don't work out. Even after one man trying to forcibly hold her hand, she does not hesitate to ask them to drop her home in their car. She neither has any hesitation in telling them the address of her home nor giving them a hug just like one does to family members and friends because again she believes that the world around her is nice, just like family and maybe she is grownup that way or maybe she is unaware or ignorant of the harsh realities of the world. The director never aims to tell that one should be like the men who dropped the girl because the director in every way shows that their intentions were not good from the start itself, it is just that the girl believed that they would help, maybe invoked goodness in them and in a way ended up reaching home safely. It is clearly stated that this is "Impossible in the real world" The basic appeal to the audience is "can we give her the world that she believes exists", it is this world which she believes is nicer, helping and non-pervert and it is our duty to give all the girls like her a world like they believe in. PS - I felt the need to write this as I see some people in the comments pointing that "Good men exist", or "You should treat a girl like you would treat a guy", etc. while these statements are true, but they are not the points that this video is trying to convey

The video is about treating a girl just like they would treat any other guy, if not nicer. The point is not just that they didn't take advantage of her situation, the point is also that they wouldn't even start stalking her from the next day, even if they know her address. "Can we give her the world that she believes exists?"- is asking for a world where you see/respect/behave with a female, just the way you'd behave with another male in her place. @@drd.n4695 If anything, you're the one in denial. There are bad people in this world, accept it. Not 'every' man is worried about females. A lot of men themselves commit crimes and don't give a fuck about women. May God bless you, you seem pretty ignorant lol.
Recently, a Pakistani girl named Dua got kidnapped in Karachi like 8 days ago, and people are blaming and shaming her for getting kidnapped just because she was outside at night, with a male friend and people even judged her for showing her arms.
see what men have done to the women out there, instead of feeling safe we were terrorized, men have turned into monsters even more scary then monsters.
Alright so this is a TRUE STORY. In 2012, my mother got really sick around 3 am so I had to take her to the hospital, when we came back, it was around 4:15 am. I saw a lady walking down the street of our house, it was in the winter too so its freezing, anyways, a taxi driver was hitting on her & wasn't leaving her alone. I thought of my sister & said I wouldn't allow this to happen to her so I decided to intervene & I did, taxi driver drove away & I told her after my mother went upstairs to the house, that she can wait for the morning in our house so she can get a proper taxi back home, told her that it's just my sister, mother, & I live together so she can feel safe along two other females. It was hard to convince her at first but then saw my mother over the balcony so she did come upstairs, fell asleep & went home the next day. Believe or not, we're out there but might be rare I believe.
@@srishtimukherjee5570 yeah but today a girl shouldn't do what alia bhatt did. Common sense. If you want, accept a ride from strangers. But don't tell other girls to do stupid things with you. If you wanna get raped, fine. Don't convince other girls to do it though

The fact that my immediate response was a feeling of fear for her instead of "oh look some people agreed to help.. thats nice of them" and at the end a feeling of complete relief instead of viewing it as a social norm highlights how some people (not the world) have changed the way of living for women. how as a community we have actually gone backwards instead of forwards when approaching the concept of women "roaming freely". But what also is upsetting is how most comments have just accepted this to be impossible... when as a species we have the intellectual ability to learn and change
I think She have an equal role to play. Here by *She* I mean, girls, ladies, and women who, in a way or the other, are friend, girlfriend, sister, mother, grandma, partner, or parent of any other male out there. *We all, only when united, can bring this change together if we want.*
The point is, do you want to see the world from "Vogue's eyes", or the "real world", because in reality there are many men who would come out to help. A while a ago in Mumbai itself a woman was travelling to her home and it was past-midnight and there were at least 3-4 by-passers ready to help her. And this isn't even a rarity, my mother was helped by an auto-rickshaw driver to get to the railway-station and because she was in a hurry he didn't even bother getting paid, cause my mother was just short of few rupees and this was during peak hours(mid-night hours).
@@devansh7514 do you know that this is the minimum they cold do an this is not the reality of the world we live in? even u saying this is not so rare, still an exception consedering all the world. do u want a trophy to give them for that?
Isn't it ironic that Vikas Bahl has directed this movie given the recent allegations labelled against him? "Can we" question at the end should change to "Can you"? #VogueEmpower
The director of this film is himself accused of sexual harassment of one of his employees. Vogue should delist this video because it's a huge slap on the #metoo victims. #TimesUp
I m sorry but the Sanskari Bapuji is also accused for sexual harrassment. Your work (TBH scripted and on-screen work)) don't show what you really are. These are just made for some money and nothing else. Movies shows the character of the character not the actor! I guess you got it now?
This has happened to me. A very sweet Pakistani guy and his friend gave me lift or else I would have been in big trouble as I was in completely new place and I didn't know where to go. I was really scared but he was really friendly and alot into politics and kept on talking about it haha that was a great experience for me
Victim blaming and shaming is a bigger problem. The Asian society always blames and shames the victim which is really sad. Recently, a Pakistani girl named Dua got kidnapped in Karachi like 8 days ago, and people are blaming and shaming her for getting kidnapped just because she was outside at night, with a male friend and people even judged her for showing her arms.
this world doesn't exist. Its actually impossible. Here there was a group of men, forget group, a man in a car would stop and drive as I walk (me wearing decent outfit). Men on bike would do the same. it feels so disrespectful. once I felt very insecure in an auto so left it half way & started walking, I really wished I could ask for lift but men are men. I didn't and walked my way home. I'm single and don't know when I'll marry but my son will not be like how men are now! he'll set an example of real men.
I'm from a third world country and I once hitchhiked in another town, and a very nice guy helped me out and didn't even ask for my number in return. World CAN be a nice place if people just let it,
Simran Maqsood damn stupid woman.... It's not kanguana it's another women claiming really horrifying incident n anurag also came in support which he had to be silent for production reputation but he thinks he could solve it more mature way.... kanguana jus support her... n still got clean check after so many people came n support that woman.... such a damn person....
I don't understand why people are complaining about this video. Aren't the same people complaining the same people who CONSTANTLY WARN WOMEN NOT TO 1.) Go out at night 2.)Go out alone at night 3.) Be in a strange place by yourself at night 4.) Talk to random men you don't know, alone, at night 5.) Get in cars with men you don't know? It can't be both ways. Are women safe or are they not? If women are safe what is the need for all the above rules? If women aren't safe then why is if offensive if the video says women aren't safe?
TheRahkul If its commonsense then this video shouldn't offend anyone. IF women are in constant danger of men lurking in the night, then there shouldn't be any thing offensive about this video. That is the point. The people complaining are contradicting themselves.
TheRahkul Constant crimes against women is a reality, hence the reason for this ad. You can't tell someone to expect to be assaulted, and then complain about this video stating that it is impossible for a woman to be safe in this world. You're contradicting yourself.
TheRahkul Yes there are crimes against men. However the crimes men suffer from aren't a result of their gender and the social stigma placed on them because of their gender. Different issues existing, doesn't warrant the dismissal of something else because you deem it less significant. And it isn't impossible for "anyone" to be protected from violent crime. There are social and economic issues which lead to one person being more susceptible to violence than another. Reason why awareness is brought to issues of violence in the first place, because it is preventable. However people like you don't see the significance in the resolution of the issue or in the issue itself.
This movie gave me goosebumps simply. Like a very strong message is told in a very simple way. Boys plz learn to be good with girls. And girls please be confident, learn self defense (just in case).
This video actually brought tears to my eyes. I am a young woman and I felt real fear when the men pulled up to her car. I would have been frozen in terror if the same happened to me. My faith in humanity has been damaged. Although I can still imagine a world where men could be gentleman and hero's instead of rapists. Where kindness shone in their eyes instead of predatory lust. I can imagine men protecting women as if she were his own sister, daughter, or mother. This video is beautiful in its dream of a kinder, sweeter world.
That's the point.... They had bad intentions and were trying to kidnap her but were kind of surprised by her trust I guess.... she believed that they were nice people..... That's why it said 'can we give her the world she believes exists'
We do like or lust a beautiful girl, but we still behave like gentlemen. Don't we? Our feelings are natural, but our behavior is defined by what we are.
An amazing film with a potent message and its suspense will give you chills. It is Utopia i.e. an imagined place in which everything is perfect As much as I know the video is Utopian, I would like it to become a reality.
How can you call this Utopia??!! Do guys still leer at girls in utopian societies, as those in this short film were obviously doing? So, is it an utopian society if guys do not molest you, but have every intention of doing so, given a chance!! This movie makes no sense!! The intentions of those guys were not pure, its just that they could not muster up any courage to do anything! Utopian!!! Really!! Absolutely ridiculous dude!! If everyone settles for this kind of society and thinks this is Utopian, then I absolutely fear for the future of our society!!
apocalypsehere4u Perhaps you didn't grasp the video's intent. It is Utopia from the perspective of the girl played by Alia in which state of things is according to her.
Naman Mukesh Chaudhary well according to facts 99% of the times things will go exactly as in video...group of men will help woman...so we are pretty close to utopia.....its a nice initiative but please start solving real problem....gang rape or rape by stranger is not even a real issue in india...
***** well 1st thing..read my comment very carefully...I never said rape is not a real issue I said "gang rape or rape by stranger" is not a real issue Fact(link is connected) : 24,923 rape cases were reported across India in 2012.Out of these, 24,470 were committed by RELATIVE OR NEIGHBOR...in other words, the victim knew the alleged rapist in 98 per cent of the cases link : ncrb.nic.in/CD-CII2012/Statistics2012.pdf my 2nd point: rate of rape per 100,000 people is quite low in India its 2 according to same report...this rate is 8.1 for Europe, 14.7 for latin america 40.2 for south africa 28.6 for USA...so yeah compared to other countries it is not a real issue but we need to work on it coz i don't wont any one to get raped correct me if I am wrong...I took most of the data from wikipedia and versified it using the pdf file.. and number of pending cases is not 1.5m pretty sure about it so my whole point was dis video is completely useless if motto behind it is to make india better place for woman PS be creative while cursing
I don't think the world can give us a place where we can roam freely. I went to a mall past 5 days... I was fully covered with my shawl and my hijab yet this group of 4-5 boys followed me and their eyes showed how bad those people were 😣they could molest any girl with their eyes
Mumbai railway station are the worst place to be, you will definately be touched by someone every single day even when you are fully covered , I used to carry a steel ruler in my hand and I used to hit the person hard with it everytime I was touched.. it taught then I lesson I hope..
well that may be true, but months back my friends, who were tagged as most 'tharki' guys and even girls hate them helped a girl in delhi. her scooty was broken down and we went for nightout, and dont know why we helped her. i didnt mean to tell u girls and neither we are ideal boys but yes, not all guys are the same....
Rewatching this at this time when a chilling and brutal incident in hyd hangs in the air and refuses to leave our minds. I don't know what to think of this video. She just wanted to go home and to clinic the next day...
This video isn't trashing men, so I don't understand the hate. It simply states a fact because how much ever we try to argue, we can't change the fact that it is still dangerous for a woman to probably get a lift in the middle of the night from a group of men (who possibly look intoxicated too). Forget at night, it wouldn't even be advocated to do so during day. To all the men who wouldn't assault a woman, great, no one is attacking you. This only serves a message to all those men who would do so. There's no point seeing this as sexist - not all men are rapists, but 97% of rapists are men. Learn the difference.
to be honest i think its gender neutral.i wouldn't take a lift from a group of shady looking women too at midnight.it's idiotic to ask for a lift at midnight from anyone.a man shouldn't do that either.but they will not show that view point as it doesn't sell.there will never come a point where it will be okay to hitch a hike with strangers at midnight.and frankly...nobody owes her that utopian state.i would want a utopian state where i can carry a bundle of cash at night, but it wont happen, and that's fine.
my aunt and my cousin were driving and their tire got puncture and no one like no one there was a person or shop its was very getting dark they were alone suddenly two guys in a bike came, my aunt got worried about but actually they helped them change the tire and help them to reach home. so not all men are like not all people are like that
sexually insulting is happening at homes let alone street, some young girls cant feel protected at their own home how sad is that and they are scared to tell anyone
I read many comments and most of guys were saying it didn't exists in real life seems they don't trust themselves.. it happened with me during winter.. as my car get stopped.. phone is already dead it was around 2 30 am while I was returning back from my work and was all alone saw few guys in Scorpio and they were willing to help and even gave their IDs just to make me feel confident I believe in my guts and asked them to drop me home and now we are good friends GOOD PEOPLE EXISTS✌roam isn't built in a day its us who can bring change when we feel that girl is also a daughter or sister of someone just like their...
I remember being so scared the first time I watched this video. Every time it seemed like something bad was gonna happen I would start biting my nails and praying that nothing would happen to her.
i believe these short videos by vogue are targeting the wrong demographic of Indian men. you also need to be making short movies in hindi and regional languages that they should show in single screen theaters and between innings breaks of cricket matches. not in english and on youtube or social media. you dont reach out to all the medieval minded men like this...
You know what's impossible? A guy stranded in the middle of the night and meeting five hot women who bring him home. Video ends: "Can we give him the world he believes exists?" :-)
They wouldn't pick him up because men can't be trusted in India. You're asking for the same thing the video is asking for - A world wear women don't fear men.
I think they are living in lala land, this wud never happen in real world. But it's a good message that every guy shud treat a girl like his sister and mother. If me and a group of friends saw a girl stranded like that i wud surely help and drop her safely to her house and that one day it will be a reality.
To all the people who are saying, "Not all men are like this." "Why has he said that it's impossible?" Let me ask you one question, if you are a man would you recommend you sister/ girlfriend/ mother/ daughter to take this step in a situation like this? Take a lift from a group of men who are smoking and loitering around late in the night? And if you are a woman would you do this? One answer- YOU WOULDN'T.
I think the message is that even though they can easily overpower her and take advantage of her, still they don't. And that's utopia. The girl can easily ask for help in the video but in real life its quiet the opposite. Moreover, she's comfortable with getting into a car with 5 men and telling them her address without worrying about them following her. Can we really have such a world?
Is it? Do you mean to say that Nirbaya wasn't powerful? Just imagine how much she must have fought that these sluts drilled her with an iron rod? An Alia Bhat (for doing this ad) or a Katrina Kaif (for gyrating her body to numb you men) will not be gang-raped but me and countless other women will be ... gang rape is no longer a news thing for me, it happened last year right behind my street ... so, stop being naive and make an effort to talk to women.
Even a not so popular song or a repulsive so called prank video has more views than this video which is giving such an important and positive message....this itself shows how deep the problem is..... people now have access to so much because of the internet but still only a small percentage has the mental ability to absorb and deal with the information...
The sad truth is that this video really is just a utopia. In real life, she had so much chance being raped the only possible way that she could have been completely safe is if she would have call parents, friends or the police. I know I would have lock my car, find someting i can defend myself with like keys and called someone with my phone if i saw this car coming next to me. It really is that sad that women just can't feel safe when we are alone especially at night. I don't even live in a dangerous place but it happened to me to hide when i was alone going out of a party and saw guys coming in my direction.
JoanieTiVi have to agree with you. cause like one in a billion have the upbringing and constraint to prevent themselves from turning into a rapist when being presented with a chance or scope :(
JoanieTiVi Yup and in real life any indian man who would actually want to help her. wouldn't because he would end up jailed for rape accusations, and would probably suicide knowing his life is over...
***** I get your point completely ..in this situation I would feel similarly vulnerable.. but can't blame the film about being pushing some agenda given the situation in India..
I think even after 5 years, many people might not have understood the point of this video

But poeple does not want to change.

Victim blaming and shaming is a bigger problem. The Asian society always blames and shames the victim which is really sad. I am a Pakistani Muslim and not all Pakistanis and Muslims are trustworthy. There I said it. Now, hate me!
this world doesn't exist.

Hope one girl can trust every boy in this world.
Hope one day boys understand..
It I'll happen one day very soon.
Still deep inside every girl, there would be some sort of paranoia
They understand.
I don't understand why people are complaining about this video. Aren't the same people complaining the same people who CONSTANTLY WARN WOMEN NOT TO
1.) Go out at night
2.)Go out alone at night
3.) Be in a strange place by yourself at night
4.) Talk to random men you don't know, alone, at night
5.) Get in cars with men you don't know?
It can't be both ways. Are women safe or are they not? If women are safe what is the need for all the above rules? If women aren't safe then why is if offensive if the video says women aren't safe?
dont worry, this generation is filled with bitches(includes men too) they just cant live without bitching over something
You're contradicting yourself.
if we want to make the change i believe it begins with us.....

An amazing film with a potent message and its suspense will give you chills. It is Utopia i.e. an imagined place in which everything is perfect
As much as I know the video is Utopian, I would like it to become a reality.
***** well 1st thing..read my comment very carefully...I never said rape is not a real issue I said "gang rape or rape by stranger" is not a real issue
Fact(link is connected) : 24,923 rape cases were reported across India in 2012.Out of these, 24,470 were committed by RELATIVE OR NEIGHBOR...in other words, the victim knew the alleged rapist in 98 per cent of the cases
link : ncrb.nic.in/CD-CII2012/Statistics2012.pdf
my 2nd point: rate of rape per 100,000 people is quite low in India its 2 according to same report...this rate is 8.1 for Europe, 14.7 for latin america 40.2 for south africa 28.6 for USA...so yeah compared to other countries it is not a real issue but we need to work on it coz i don't wont any one to get raped
correct me if I am wrong...I took most of the data from wikipedia and versified it using the pdf file..
and number of pending cases is not 1.5m pretty sure about it
so my whole point was dis video is completely useless if motto behind it is to make india better place for woman
PS be creative while cursing

I know the feeling

that usually happens and that touch is extremely disgusting... I wish we could show them how it feels to in our place 😑

I hope, I would have died of getting scared in such a situation
this play says come out of your fear that ll change the opponents mindset too!! so live your lfe without fear miss✌
But the remaining 3% are women. :3
***** And your point is...?
43% pedophiles are women...God...lol....says who? Please mention your source here.
to be honest i think its gender neutral.i wouldn't take a lift from a group of shady looking women too at midnight.it's idiotic to ask for a lift at midnight from anyone.a man shouldn't do that either.but they will not show that view point as it doesn't sell.there will never come a point where it will be okay to hitch a hike with strangers at midnight.and frankly...nobody owes her that utopian state.i would want a utopian state where i can carry a bundle of cash at night, but it wont happen, and that's fine.

Really a touching short movie .. Hats off to Alia:)
Optimistic...Can Happen..Few Men Exist this way....
Nice sweet message, difficult, but not impossible. ..
Such a powerful short film with a beautiful social message!💯
Exactly... This is impossible in the real world
I think the message is that even though they can easily overpower her and take advantage of her, still they don't. And that's utopia. The girl can easily ask for help in the video but in real life its quiet the opposite. Moreover, she's comfortable with getting into a car with 5 men and telling them her address without worrying about them following her. Can we really have such a world?
That is the power of a girl! To conquer evil by her goodness!
So you mean all those who were raped were good enough?
Throughout the whole film i was wondering 'Why so happy?' but at the end, the last line was my answer. Beautiful ❤️
All of us wish to live in a world like this.. Hope one day we will.. Lovely concept.. Lovely video. Keep up the good work Alia
One of the most beautiful video I have ever seen. Impossible in real life.
how innocent..so cute.. love u alia.
Even a not so popular song or a repulsive so called prank video has more views than this video which is giving such an important and positive message....this itself shows how deep the problem is..... people now have access to so much because of the internet but still only a small percentage has the mental ability to absorb and deal with the information...
Alia you really realistic and genuine actor
that hit HARD.
needs to be seen by more .
Great idea and fantastic execution. kudos team

JoanieTiVi Yup and in real life any indian man who would actually want to help her. wouldn't because he would end up jailed for rape accusations, and would probably suicide knowing his life is over...
