if being small ensures that KT racing actually delivers a quality racing game, we're all for it! While the size of older games was a nice novelty, the fact is that it also demonstrated a major flaw of prioritizing size over everything else; lots of open, empty space with very little to do. Like butter spread over too much bread, the nice elements of the open world are few and far between on an overly large map. A smaller map means more concentrated fun and an easier development. Win-win!

@Fabrice level design is of paramount importance for an open world racing game, and having a large map mitigates the ability of a developer to design an engaging map (especially when it’s based on a real-world location). Our original point clearly went over your head; we weren’t saying we needed a pop-up of a new race event every 5 feet to enjoy the open world but that we need engaging roads to drive, and by having such a vast map in the first game, the fun roads were spaced out by empty, boring commutes across the map. If they can somehow manage to get a giant map to be packed with fun roadways in the year and change that they have to develop the game then great, but otherwise, a smaller, more concentrated world would be better.

You sound too professional to only have 600 subscribers! Keep the Solar Crown content up! 🙌
Edit: woah I didn’t even notice the balanced like to dislike ratio until i left a like. After being burned by Cyberpunk 77, I do truly feel like these are all things we genuinely should be worried about in an industry where more and more long-time companies are not learning from the disasters of Fallout 76 or Anthem, especially with the graphics situation.
I know the game is still far from release and absolutely nothing is certain about the outcome of TDUSC therefore we shouldn’t be accusing the game of having bad features based on CGI trailers alone... But everything he said in this video has already happened to other beloved franchises from once praised companies one too many times, even ages before the game launched.
I don’t know if Nacon has favored microtransactions in their products before, but It’s only right that we start “””preaching””” (for lack of better words) these kinds of things to the devs and let them know to take their time to make the game right for the people who are actually looking forward to it.
Only then will the game be successful, and it will gain the traction and profit a company would want… or something like that; i aint no business entrepreneur. If we don’t actively and positively remind the devs to stay in their lane no pun intended, then we’ll end up with another PROJECT CARS 3.
I’m not a hater or a fanboy, I’m just a man who likes the thrill of arcade racers, and There is no saying that KT Racing won’t fall into greed and dirty profit desperation like many other beloved game publishers have. So i think this video is onto something. (I disagree with the 1st point tho; I remember Overwatch also liked showing off their Short Film talents to attract attention while the game was still cooking.)

Surprising to see so many dislikes, you brought up many excellent points. I do sincerely hope that they don't overemphasize the "lifestyle" portion of the game, the sprinkled on elements of clothing, appearance and houses are meant to augment the experience; you rightly note that TDU 2 went too far with it. This guy gets it. The people getting hyped don't. Please don't get over hyped for this game. You WILL be disappointed. Kt racing has made racing games before, I get that. But open work racers are a completely different story. Y'all are looking at the tdu franchise with rose tinted glasses, its not gonna be as good as what you expect. Then you got dumb RUclipsrs out there hyping everyone up throwing around maps like Tenerife, and when the developers reveal something much smaller, they get underwhelmed. Who's fault is that?
You have to understand that seasoned developers like EA and Playground games even after years of making open world racers, still struggle to out out competent games out there. What makes people think that the first open world racing game made by a developer is going to be like the second coming of Jesus?
I want this game to be good. But so far, all we got is 3 CGI trailers, hyping everybody up and nothing as much as a screenshot of the actual game. We've been at this place with so many games before yet y'all never learn!
Don't worry about the dislike man, they're just overhyped at this point. We have every right to worry. Revealing the release date before we have even gotten a smidge of gameplay. While they're perfectly content with showing us gameplay of all their other games.
Don't get me wrong. I want to be proven wrong. I want this comment to age like milk. But the daunting task of making an open world racer on a 1:1 scale map, licensing super cars, making these cars fun and distinct to drive making an mmo, maintaining severs, and making the game fun, I almost definitely too much for a studio who has had no prior experience in making racing games. and need I tell u that WRC is their only successful franchise. Nacon is listening to their fans compared to these other companies. Just because they don't show any gameplay doesn't mean it is automatically bad.
Nacon is the creators of WRC 9, a game that has some great physics. They are not aiming to replace Forza and Grand Turismo. Their goal is to create a new game to add to the racing game genre. In this game, they are planning to add features such as housing, gambling, and a more realistic world. The problem back when the first 2 games were released was their marketing strategy. The game didn't really get a lot of attention, but if you look at the rating of the games they score pretty high.

All of these are valid concerns substantiated by the history of the game industry as a whole. Pre-rendered trailers are often used to hide a bad game. Open world games do have unique challenges that are difficult for inexperienced developers to surmount. What i personally expect? Given it targets the Switch, a last-gen-ish low-budget-ish game, which is more similar to TDU2 in production value than to Forza Horizon 3/4, and likely below The Crew 2. TDU has shown that it's not that impossible to represent a dense urban environment in a very simplified form on a limited budget; Buildings can be barely more detailed than boxes, most streets will be hinted at but completely blocked off, it'll still be 1:1 geographically, and it can be perfectly fine like that. It doesn't matter much how tall a box is regarding its cost, a box is a box. It's certainly not a game with insane ambitions of CP2077 or AC U, nor a game built on known broken and shaky foundation unlike F76. I think this is just about the best case, obviously things can go wrong in a number of ways. I do think the CG trailers overhype the target they're aiming for by a LOT, but i also feel they're getting their money's worth for these, as they'll probably be in the game's attract mode or intro to set the mood, and they don't have to be an accurate representation of the game for that, pure hype in cutscenes is perfectly fine.

No matter how you try to convince yourself... The map is too small. Forza Horizon is relevant because they provide DLC and huge support after launch. I doubt this gets any of that sort. It's an open world racing game. It is meant to be filled with races. You don't need to fill every nook and cranny when big map in it self is something that brings content to a game like this. You can't have enough variety in small map. This just feels like a cash grab with old IP name tagged onto it. I was hoping for this to be a remaster with Ibiza, Oahu and additional island.

      @dankswank9088  3 года назад +2

While we can agree that this does feel like a cash-grab on the part of Nacon, we still don't know if the map will be limited to Hong Kong island or if it will extend to parts of the mainland. It may not be as small as we think, but even if it is still smaller than prior TDU games, given the density of driving terrain on the island, it's hard for us to feel like the game won't benefit from a more concentrated open world.

Assuming that KT racing follows in the footsteps of the earlier games, we would guess that the island represents a center point for the world and the various bridges would connect to other parts of the map, but we cannot know until gameplay is actually revealed.

Hong Kong may sound impossible but knowing the next-gen platform's capabilities enough and modern satellite imagery/city research to learn years before, I can see how it works being part of nowadays modern next-gen game.
Also wrong, game has been developed years before first teaser ever came out (2016), trusted heavily by Nacon with 10 million euros/dollars whilst being an AA publisher (not AAA smh) and wrong again while GTA Online's microtransactions is just shark cards, TDU2 casino/GTAO's casino update/hotel doesn't, they are just in game currency that can be transfared as chips, that's all. GTAO got blocked by China and some other Asian/European countries on this because those countries just want to be self-aware, not because of so-called unheard in game real money so yeah TDUSC will have casinos with no microtransactions in mind whatsover plus it has been requested a lot by real TDU fans including myself for its rich lifestyle theme & a challenging/riskier alternative to grind money.
Anyways dude, I do appreciate your time on the editing and honest thoughts about it but yeah I'd say do research much better next time and believe me, Nacon/KT is really passionate about this. Well, at least that was slightly more respectful than the Mio Honda video. We do want to mention that our worries with the map aren’t regarding its construction but it’s ability to run well while looking good across multiple consoles and console generations (minimal texture and object pop-in, stable framerate, etc). There have been varying and wildly different reports on the game’s total development time, which we plan on addressing in a future video. We never said that Nacon was a AAA publisher, and we never said that TDU2 used microtransactions. The casino in GTA relies upon the player spending credits, and those credits can be bought with real money in the shark card microtransactions, so yes, though obfuscated by non-fungible ingame currency, players can and do spend real money playing the casino.

Anyway, Shark Cards are just a very optional microtransactions for lazy scrubs, the very-very rich people who just bamgin' (KSI term for buying stuff without seeing how much it costs because too rich) their way in-game without a doubt, or some (famous) RUclipsrs like Lazerbeam, making it a content in order to own their dream cars, properties, pricy clothes very early in game. Yeah sure the full game is 50$ yet people still feel the urged to buy those shark cards when they could have just try to enjoy the game a bit longer, get used to the grindy rags to riches progression and just search for money guides on RUclips (ie. The Professional, TGG, Tylarious, or Pyrrealm). I'd say it's their money and if they don't even regret buying SCs, then so be it. On the positive note, it can be the reason why their live updates is getting better and better compare to other games and could be a really good time killer while waiting for maybe awaited GTAVI on 2024 with a quite much higher budget from these sales.
