I just got back from Yosemite and did the Sentinel Dome to Taft Point loop… by far the best day hike I have personally done. Only about 5.6 miles (9 km) total but just amazing. 😎
I just returned from Yosemite for the first time. I’ve watched a lot of RUclips videos to research my itinerary and yours were definitely the most valuable! Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you Chris for this video! My family and I spent four days in Yosemite last year and hiked from Glacier Point to Sentinel dome on June 29, 2019. You are absolutely right about the jaw dropping views!
When I was there in 2018, we went the day they opened up Glacier Point Road so there was still snow on top so we took the forest/fire road shortcut to the top. And thank goodness we did because the snow really makes that climb to the top that much more tiring, especially after hiking around the whole park for the past 10 days with a heavy pack full of camera gear. Awesome video! It makes me want to get back to the park that much more!
Thank you, and yea, it's a whole different ballgame when there's snow. I've cross-country skied on Glacier Rd when it was closed, really nice to have the place to yourself. If you do go back, they have a day permit system running now, and I think Glacier Rd is closed in 2021 for repairs, just a heads up
Thank you! Sorry to hear the trip got cancelled. I know the feeling, same thing happened here with a bunch of mine. Just a heads up that I think Glacier Rd might be closed at points for repair in 2021, I think I saw that somewhere. I'd check the website to confirm. If it's closed, I have a bunch of other great Yosemite hikes on the website, check them out. It's hard to go wrong there.
Awesome video. My wife and some friends and I are comming from New Zealand to go to Yosemite. My wife and I were there in 2019 and I did the mist trail past the 2 waterfalls. But will definitely do this and taft point next year. My wife is a biggish lady, so how hard is this hike on a scale of 1 to 10?
Hello Chris. We are visiting in a few days. I've just realized that Glacier Point Road is closed for 2022... thus limiting our attempt to see Glacier Point and Sentinel Dome. *Unless we consider 4-mile Trail to Glacier Point and then on to Sentinel Dome. I've watched your 2 vides (4-Mile and Sentinel), but am curious if the 2 connect easily? Sorry if you have this posted already somewhere else. Thank you!
Excellent video. My wife and I just hiked 4 mile trail on Valentine's Day this year. The views are epic. I just bought a GoPro MAX. What software do you use to edit and 360 videos? Thanks for another awesome video!
Nice, yea, the 4 mile trail is a classic, glad you got to enjoy it. For video editing I use Final Cut Pro, but if you want to do something free, you can try Garmin VIRB Edit. You just need to convert all the files from the GoPro 360 format to an editable file using their software.
@@Hikingguy Okay thanks. So basically I need to use the GoPro software to convert the 360 file first into a workable format and then edit with my video editing software. Thanks!

@@Hikingguy you're welcome!
Great video ! Covid cancelled our trip this year. We are planning next year. This is one of the trails I have planned.

Great video. You have become my goto guy for choosing trails to hike on. Thanks.
That's awesome, thank you and if there's any trails I don't have up there that you think would be good, drop me a note.

It's a short one - I'd give it a 2. And Kia Ora!

Yes you can hit Sentinel, it's probably about 1 mile or so down the Pohono Trail and then up to Sentinel. Here ya go: caltopo.com/m/5H11J

@@hoodedhillhopper2408 Yea exactly. The Garmin VIRB program is nice because it's setup for 360 editing and has titles, etc.
@@Hikingguy very cool. Thanks
