yea i imagine eggman dies in the chase you get the metal sonic solo route. and they consider eggman and metal sonic's route a duo route and make it so its possible for eggman to escape like a secret exit that you need a bomb for to escape and get the solo.
In my opinion, they put Eggman solo because he is the only victim who survived. Sonic exe does not have the pleasure to destroy Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic's only role is to protect Eggman. Sonic exe really just wants to destroy metal Sonic because him is the best robot eggman had and to (if he gets destroyed) help with Sonic's career to get more souls.

I never thought that Metal Sonic would play tremendous roles in this game along with Eggman, I would consider him to be the best character of all. He sacrificed himself, fought despite having a hard time and always stood up to defend Eggman, no matter what the cost. Simply the best version of Sonic that could have been created.

I love how over time Sonic.EXE has slowly focused more on actully overcoming and defeating EXE instead of just the gore and horror. Unlike other old Creepypastas (And even modern horror) it's natural to want to see the monster get destroyed in the end. I feel like that why people route for Metal so much, not only because he's cool as hell, but because he's the perfect person to take down EXE (or die trying). There's just something special about seeing all of the horrors up until this point, and to see someone finally standing up against EXE is just amazing. Whether Metal loses or wins in the end doesnt matter, he makes EXE's life worse. He feels no fear, there is nothing for him to mock or anything to say to get under his skin since he has none. And Metal is one of the few people capable of beating EXE's overwhelming power with actual skill combined with strength. It's the same reason people like seeing Homelander fail, because under all that power is weakness, because only someone so weak can be capable of such horrible acts. After all, EXE is nothing but a copy of a copy.... at the end of the day.... *There is Only ONE Sonic*
The main issue I have with metal sonic in this game is the fact that his motive to destroy sonic is completely gone, even if eggman died metal would still try to kill sonic, he even betrayed eggman to do it in sonic heroes.

This was the one time I actually felt bad seeing Metal Sonic being taken out. Like sure, it was his programming to protect Eggman, but the fact he is able to go toe to toe with both Sonic.EXE, Tails.EXE and Knuckles.EXE, blocking each one of their strikes until he got surrounded, this time the loss kinda hurt.
