They sounded awesome! The big cats also liked a tin of Motul or two on a pit stop!

Probably the most tame v12 I have heard to be honest.

Pretty sure this car got destroyed in Pukekohe this year. I’m sure they’ll fix it. I couldn’t believe they were driving it! Should be in a museum at Bathurst

Cosworth high lift valves from F1 technology ensured reliability of the engine and an extra 40 to 50hp.

Fantastic. What a sound. On first view I thought Tom held a slide all the way through Griffins but the steering is left hand down. What sort of HP was the V12 putting out ? 450 to 500 ??

when they announced they would be coming to Australia the media reported they had between 420 and 450HP the previous year and everyone assumed the engine spec would be similar because there were no new parts, no development and no new concessions for the Jaguars since they last raced in 1984. When asked how much horsepower they had when they got to Bathurst Tom Walkinshaw replied with "enough". One ex TWR employee claimed they had about 430 at Bathurst, and most races in Europe 410 but at Spa 390, whereas another ex TWR employee claimed they had 460 at Bathurst and 430 in Europe, so who knows what the real figures were.

TWR admitted to getting around 450 out of the V12 for Bathurst in 1985, which given the level of opposition power was more than enough.
