This is just the idea I was looking for! I was going to buy a cheap ass bulky harbor freight tongue box. But your idea is much more low profile and much more useful for my chains, binders and straps.

I like this idea. The way my 14k trailers head board is a normal tongue box would be in the way. This looks like the perfect solution for my chains and binders

For your gate lock holders you could of used clevis pins with the r clip. It would of been easier than drilling the round stock.

I have not tried a spare in there yet, I plann to mount a spare on the side of the tongue later, if it will fit good. Thanks

Thanks for the vid. Have you found the box collecting water over the time you've had it? I want to do this to my trailer, but was told to put some sort of grate down as a floor, so water would just drain out.

Yes it collected water one day so I drilled small drain holes in the corners
