Watched your video last year, it gave me the inspiration to sign up to the 10K this year. Glad it was the 10K as in January I fell in a pot hole and done ankle ligament damage. 10 months to the day almost I was in the GSR.
I’m now eyeing the half next year. The vibes were awesome. I have a few issues with the course, St Vincent Street is easier for me as I have tons of hills on my regular training route in Rouken Glen Park. Finneston area was okay, the Kingston was a struggle as the incline and how cool it was and the wind threw me. Scotland Street was actually a struggle too, long slight incline. Seaward Street was better, PRW was decent and down to and over the Squinty was decent too. As for Clydeside, long flat and boring. The last two kilometres were immense fun. The atmosphere was building. The last kilometre was the most fun, let out a four letter expletive next to a few women, that was the word they were looking for as well. Then another woman gave me the “let’s go” I was trying to keep to pace. Then that little gremlin in my head got told, I’m going now. I finished with that woman.
The camaraderie in the race group was brilliant and beautiful. As I have attended The Eras Tour, it was a very similar loving atmosphere. It was my first race, and won’t be my last.
The year end train down is about to begin, my plans are to do more at home gym sessions along with running now. Time to try and get stronger, and hopefully fitter for the half. I’m not as quick as you, I’m a 7 to 8 minute a kilometre slower runner.

I don't think I've ever had such a detailed race comment, you really painted the full picture and let me experience it from your eyes! Thank you for that 😀.
I must say scotland street has caught me out a few times, and I would say that it's all about those first few hills. I've went out too hard. You maybe don't think it, but sometimes you get carried away. Especially under rave atmosphere, you get excited lol.
Watch my last few GSR vlogs I've been hanging on every time.
Going into training for next years half, have a real think about taking it over easy, until you are more or less out of Pollok park. It's those hills between mile 6 and 8 that hurt the most. Especially if you go too hard on the first Mile.
Thanks for all the support mate 👍

I agree exactly what you say in the great video looking back on your wonderful achievement on the Great Scottish Run, you did so well, the crowds were fantastic both in your HM and the 10K I ran, like you I have already signed up for next year's run, again for me the 10K version.*only* 52 weeks to go

Great recap mate. Didn't race for a PB either as you know as its the most I've enjoyed a race and felt the least frustrated afterwards. Food for thought isn't it!

I think there were a lot of slower guys in your wave. I was yellow and started at 12:03 and when i was on paisley road west there were green runners coming the other way still at cessnock! They would definitely have been 2hrs 30 or more. Most of them looked like theyd hit the wall pretty hard.

Yeah mate! That makes sense. Really looked like a lot of people were crammed into the green wave for some reason . Again fantastic day out though. Thanks for the support 👍 🙏

Enjoy the videos mate! I ran on Sunday too. Same time as you. Different experience though.🫠 lessons learned for next year. I’ve followed you on strava. How do I join the WhatsApp group?

Fantastic mate! Yeah I just seen that , gave you a follow back. There should be a link in the vlog description 😀. This has honestly been such an eye-opener for me on how to approach races going forward. A bit like yourself , I've paid the price every year and never learned. Thanks for the support mate it's hugely appreciated 👏
